Writing has many components, the most important are vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar. I will teach you how to write in academic format and how to create well design topic sentence.

About Ilona
For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make the learning interesting and fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as a learning opportunities.

I have a Master's Degree (2012) in teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as degree in violin performance from Poland.
I studied piano in Poland for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program.

I
teach music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am a fan of the Essential Elements 2000 for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards.
For teaching music theory I mostly used Master Theory.

I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions.
I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs.
I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary.
All my lessons include: technique: I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both.
music theory: I use Master Theory or other books such as Hal Leonard's Piano Note spellers & Piano Music Theory books for younger ages, music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.

Besides Essential Elements 2000 for strings I also use String Tunes and Fiddle Runners to add more fun to the lessons. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I always bring violin with me to be able to show what I teach.

*** Travel Equipment ***
The students needs to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place to be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.

*** Specialties ***
I tutor most K-12 subjects and prepare students to take ACT, SAT, GRE tests.
Music genres: Classical, traditional, Suzuki, Popular, Celtic, fiddle, Blues

I provide College, High School, Middle School, Elementary School assistance and tutoring in writing with specialized expertise in the A.P.A. writing style.

In addition, I assist with business writing—proposals and presentations to reports and policy content.

About Blake
Hi, my name is Blake C. I teach guitar, singing, piano, drums, and bass online and at my Lowell, Indiana studio.

I also teach business, grammar, math (elementary, basic, pre-algebra) writing to include essay and professional business writing.

As a doctoral student at the University of New England, I am currently studying educational leadership with an emphasis on transformative leadership. In addition, I hold a Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership from the University of Mary located in Bismarck, North Dakota and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from WGU Indiana in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I have more than 26 years of experience as an executive and senior leader in the supply chain/logistics industry. Furthermore, I have nearly six years of experience consulting in business management, quality control, con
tinuous improvement, education, and training.

During the same 26 years of my business career, I have been a professional musician - session musician and teacher. I was formally trained at the American Conservatory of Music and the Chicago Musical College, both located in Chicago. I won the Presidential Scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance at the American Conservatory of Music and another full-ride scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance to attend the Chicago Musical College.

My primary Classical Guitar Instructor at both institutions was Paul Henry. I also studied Rock Guitar with Dave Uhrich while attending both institutions and privately studied Jazz Guitar with Scott Reed. I studied voice with Audrey Evans at the American Conservatory of Music and Robert Long at the Chicago Musical College.

I have participated in Classical Guitar Master Classes with:
• Hubert Kappel
• Dale Kavanagh
• Eleftheria Kotzia
• Bruce Holzman
• Stephen Aron
• Raphaella Smits
• Richard Provost
• Nicholas Goluses
• William Buonocore.

*** Lesson Details ***

I design lessons individually according to the needs and "wants" of each student. I specialize in developing and correcting technique in technique to improve the student's overall skill. Students that dedicate the time and effort each week to practicing see rapid and sustained results.

However, if you have a busy life and merely want to learn guitar for personal enjoyment, I will design your lessons to develop your skill at a pace that works for you, which can fluctuate according to your schedule.

***Young & Special Needs Students***

I teach children as young as 13 years old and adults to the age of 70 years old. When teaching younger children and individuals with special needs, it is significantly beneficial for parents to attend each lesson - I have parent seating available. When parent(s) attend lessons, the parent can assist the younger student while practicing during the week at home.

In my experience, the overall musical development and progress of younger students improve considerably when parents are involved.

***Thoughts on Musical Talent***

Musical talent is a wonderful gift, but correct technique is not easily acquired without proper instruction. Your skill level eventually plateaus and your ability to learn and perform more complicated music is inhibited, unless you have a solid foundation in music theory as it applies to your instrument(s) as well as proper technique.

I can help you build this solid foundation and will guide you through the development of musical skills; correcting flaws in technique is my specialty.

Actually, I teach adults well beyond college. I am a writer and editor, specializing in helping the willing student penetrate not only the world of good grammar and usage, but also style, genre and rhetoric. Being a better writer is not just for college kids! Being a better writer -- and read -- can change your life, and help you in your career and your sense of personal fulfillment. Classes can be online or at my Durham office,

About Dorothy
Hello potential student! Let me introduce myself: I am a university-level Spanish and writing coach with 23 years of teaching experience. I earned a BA in Language and Literature at Yale University, and I have taught at Yeshiva University, Columbia University, and the New York College of Medicine. I am currently earning an MFA in creative writing at The University of the South.

I wrote my own book on beginning Spanish grammar for medical students at Einstein College of Medicine, and for many years I was a Spanish language curriculum developer and top teacher at Manhattan's Latin American Workshop language school. I have taught at a number of corporations, including General Motors, Brooklyn Legal Services, IBM and Trinity Investments.

But don't get the idea that I'm too lofty to teach basic Spanish or help the struggling young write
r! I enjoy introducing beginner students to my subjects, and I enliven my classes with music, poetry and art. I teach a lot of adults, but I also tutor high school students.

In addition to helping you with your Spanish or Writing skills, I also coach my students in how to practice on their own so that skills get sharper outside of class time as well.

Finally, I am sensitive to the fact that different people have different learning styles, so I adapt my approach for each student.

Have questions? Don't hesitate to write to me. I am also on the Take Lessons app, so if you're in a pickle we can connect that way, too.

Writing is a process and everyone works differently. I work well with everything from planning work to editing and restructuring. My years of lit-based education have enabled me to encounter many different styles of writing and therefore I have a great deal of respect for the process of putting pen to paper. Tutoring college students with all different backgrounds taught me how to hone in on both strong and weak aspects of writing.

Having worked as an assistant to the head of pedagogy at Purchase College, I have had experience with hands-on assignment building and was often instrumental in assisting students with very challenging materials.

About Hannah
I have been tutoring for over 5 years now and have worked on everything from personal creative writing projects to senior theses to college writing assignments. I graduated with a BA in Literature from Purchase College in 2014 to start my publishing career. I am an avid reader as my background suggests - I love reading in every capacity and share my enthusiasm with all of my students. My favorite genres are classic American literature, metafiction, and popular science though I read everything in between as well. Past students have been known to call me vibrant, imaginative, and ambitious. One of my greatest joys as a tutor is to help see students all the way through challenging projects. I pay very close attention to the needs of my students and feel it is highly important to facilitate a comfortable but structured working environment for
each student's particular challenges.

I highly recommend, the best teacher I’ve had. Responsible! Caring!

I took TOEFL perpetration classes with Henry. He is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. Because of his experience in journalism he has amazing knowledge in writing, reading, speaking, He worked on my general English skills first because I thought I had enough proficiency in English while I didn't, and after some classes he started TOEFL, he definitely knows what area of English I was weak in so, step by step, he lead me in the right direction. He's very responsible and carrying. I got a higher score than I was expecting.

I hired Henry to teach English for my little daughter. The reason i have chose him was he was the only one on the list who accept half hour lessons. I wanted to see şf he is good. I was gonna rşse to one hour if i like. And his hourly rate was reasonable too. We met and he was perfect. After my daughter we have studied with him. He has provided fastest improvement on my special purpose of need. It is really not common to see this passionate teachers around. His academic approach to your need and support with newest material in the maket was excellent. I think he is ahead of others because of his major. A senior jounalist, a TV person... he helped me a lot for my journalism career too... So i definitely can call him An excellent career coach. While i was trying to be on time with my project in Los Angeles, i was the lucky one to meet him through takelessons.com. He gave me what i need only at three weeks. We together focused on my certain project's needs and after i was ready to move alone almost. He is great to teach on bussiness emails, phone conversations, expressing your basic work situation etc.
He is great on accent reduction too. While i wrote this review my concerns is he will see and will find anything to correct... But he also has taught me to be courage enough too... Thank you Henry for everything you have done. I am a freelance foreign journalist in LA. He did his best for me both as a teacher and colleague. And such a good heart... Even if you don't share same opinions on any affair he respect you and try to give his best and more than what you have paid. He is patient too.

As a former Journalism student, writing has been the number one way I learned to communicate both academically and professionally. It's important to be able to distill highly technical information into language anyone can read, and not only can read, but enjoys reading. I had three mentors in the past who helped hone my writing skills, and I love applying what I learned from them with my own students today.

About Jackie
Hi! My name is Jackie, and I have 15+ years of experience in teaching, tutoring, and training. Currently, I am enjoying managing two small businesses while teaching students part time.

All of my students, meaning a perfect 100%, have improved their grades by at least one letter grade, if not more, and passed every one of their tests and exams. I help ALL my clients reach their goals!

A couple years ago, I returned to San Diego after living in Peru for several years where I taught English as a second language. My students ranged from adult business people and academicians to primary and secondary school students. I really needed to utilize different teaching methods depending on each student’s needs. Some students wanted more business-related conversation, so I had to be able to teach business principles in marketing, communication,
logistics, interviewing, and so much more. Critical thinking was an area that I pushed my business students to improve. Other students needed to work on the basics of grammar, reading, and writing, and we had a lot of fun in class, whether going through the interactive lesson or improvising by playing fun games to emphasize thinking on their feet in another language.

The feedback I often received from my Peruvian students, as well as my students in Mexico and the U.S., was that I made learning an enjoyable experience—they wanted to work harder to advance quickly in their classes. All of my students agree that I have a lot of patience and turn even the most challenging lessons into ones of positivity and encouragement. I provide critical feedback in the most constructive of ways that help the students reach conclusions on their own. I enjoy being there to support and guide their experience!

Before I left for Peru, I worked at St Vincent de Paul Village (part of Father Joe's Villages) in downtown San Diego. There I focused on Health Education. I built the Villages' first Health Education department and helped start its innovative Health & Wellness program. As part of these two programs, I taught homeless and low-income adults with and without learning disabilities, as well as children from preschoolers to high school students. Teaching such a wide variety of students how to improve their health while living in sometimes precarious situations without much income or stability pushed me to think creatively and come up with memorable ways to engage the students and help them apply what they had learned in their daily routine.

In high school, I took all AP and college prep classes. I went to a liberal arts college in Virginia where I focused on social studies and biology. I spent a few years training business people in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, InDesign, as well as presentation techniques. In grad school, I specialized in applied anthropology and public health. During that time, I tutored students in web design. In between, I've worked in Communications and Training in international health and development, so I have a lot of experience to bring to teaching.

Basically, I love teaching. I'm enthusiastic yet patient, and I absolutely adore helping kids and adults alike learn. It's such a sense of accomplishment when my students show off their terrific grades. I see the same look in my students’ eyes regardless of age—that pride that shines from within, that exuberant smile, like they can conquer anything. I want my students to keep that pride for a long, long time.

Right now, I'm writing two textbooks to be used in my Spanish classes. I've also written several academic articles published online. I love traveling, cats, and learning!

About stan
I'm an entrepreneur with an interest in real estate, commercial specifically. I've been tutoring since my undergraduate days in NYC. I enjoy the process of helping those students reach their goals. I had tutors while in college, so, I know the difference a good tutor can make in helpings students grasps concepts.

Nonetheless, I enjoy being outdoors and most sports, but, mostly a real estate nerd. Being an east coast transplant and former military, I certainly enjoy this California weather. Skating walks with the dog, all are a part of my days as I prepare to finish my graduate studies.

I've come to appreciate the learning curve that we all have, I have found that I actually enjoy learning, that wasn't the case in my earlier life. I've used my skill sets since formerly employed at the Boeing Company and the department of finance in Seat
tle Wa, where I was discharged from the military.

Military life notwithstanding, as a civilian I've also worked as a volunteer tutor teaching adult literacy. This, as I see it, is one the ways I'm giving back to the community. It brings me great pleasure in helping others, and I look forward to helping you reach your objectives.
