I will work with you to strengthen your knowledge foundation and teach you techniques to improve your test-taking performance.
I view teaching/education as my calling, by that I mean it is a profession that deserves life-time effort and dedication. I ascribe who I am and what I have accomplished to my parents and all my teachers. They instilled knowledge, the skill to learn, and the moral compass in me, which transformed me into an independent and contributing citizen who knows how to and when to make the right decision. I feel that to do the same as my teachers did to me is my responsibility to younger generations.
I hold a Ph.D. in chemistry. With a strong academic background in science and math, I have successfully helped many students improve their academic performance in math and science through tutoring.
In recent years, I have also tutored students in standardized exams. My expertise is MCAT chemistry and physics, SAT, GRE, and GMAT.
I can hel
p you achieve the score you need to enter your dream school.

I enjoy having Fiona as a tutor for both chemistry and geometry. She is kind and makes the material easier to understand. Also, she is patient and takes her time in explaining the concepts to me, step by step. I love how she types some parts of the problems in the chat box. ~Genesis C.
Master in all GRE Math concepts. Can identify student shortfalls and address them through the subject fundamentals approach and by tying in real world applications for easier grasp of material.
I'm a graduate of UCLA School of Engineering with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I have a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 10 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success!
Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subjects can be attribute
d to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up with the pace and workload that advanced courses demand or haven't figured out the best way to study for themselves. I am able to assess a student's shortcomings and formulate a plan for higher achievement.

I've been teaching GRE preparation for 6 years and my students have increased the Quantitative and Analytic sections of their GRE scores over 30 points from their initial scores.
I create a personalized daily syllabus that caters to each student's individual strengths and weakness, and check in with my students daily to make sure that they are completing their homework assignments and have no questions.
My program is rigorous and demanding, but leads to significantly higher scores very quickly. I do not give my students a chance to slack off or to stop doing their homework assignments because students are required to enter when they have completed their homework assignments, their scores, and their vocabulary words daily through a virtual tracking system that I have created.
I provide a book list including The Educational Testing Service and Kaplan books, though can work with whatever books students already have. I incorporate technology to keep students engaged.
Leona K. is available for in-home, in-studio, and online lessons worldwide! Leona has been tutoring students of all ages in academic subjects, test preparation, and violin instruction for over 14 years, since 2001. One of Leona's elementary school students who started lessons with poor grades was nominated Student of the District within three months of lessons with Leona. Leona teaches students of all ages and experience levels. Leona is a practicing attorney and is also currently pursuing her MBA. She attended NYU for her Bachelor's Degree, Washington and Lee for her JD, and is now an MBA student at NYU Stern. She has received As and superior scores in all of the academic courses and exams for which she tutors, and has won awards and soloed with orchestras on the violin. Her skills, personal experience, and schooling will bring all
students to the next level in their studies. Leona is a very patient instructor and works with students at their own pace to achieve great results!
Leona has been my life coach for several sessions now and I could not more highly recommend her. Depending on what information she is given beforehand, she will research the situation of the particular student (what career field they are considering for example) and bring what she has learned to the session. She then will listen intently to the student to find out what they want and what is most important to them. After that she will make excellent recommendations designed to maximize the chance that the student will succeed. After having several sessions with her, I can confidently say that every piece of advice she gives leads to a positive outcome if followed. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly recommend her.

Excellent teacher who developed a personally focused lesson plan that fit my needs. The constant and prompt feedback was what I needed to pass the TOEFL. I highly recommend Leona.
The GRE Math Section has presented the greatest challenge to graduate students allowing me to develop a structured practice schedule that involves revisiting the basics of college algebra and elements of calculus to rebuild confidence in problem solving. Also we have worked with some UCLA graduate students creating a vocabulary log that mirrors the typical GRE verbal section requirements. In the verbal sections also We have worked on comprehension strategies that center on analytical reading that leads to comprehension of passages.

I graduated in 2016 from Yeshiva University with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and decided to take the GRE before starting work full time as an investment banker at Credit Suisse in New York CIty. I took the test and scored better than I could've expected, and since then I've been hooked on trying to help other students feel that same feeling that I felt after taking the test.
I've spent my free time in the last 2.5 years working one-on-on with students to improve their comprehension and test scores, first focusing on the GRE and then expanding to include AP Calculus and Statistics. I focus on helping students to prepare and hone the specific skills that the question makers are targeting with their questions. Every standardized test is geared to test a certain set of skills that can be trained to any student with the right preparatio
n - my goal is to make sure that every one of my students feel that they have been prepped properly.
After some time I decided to take the GMAT in order to be able to attend business school in the future. After spending a few months studying and taking the test, I wanted to apply my knowledge regarding the test, and how to study for it, to help students achieve their business school dreams.
Nowadays, I spend most of my time working in a healthcare and real estate development and investment firm in Chicago, but still devote my free time to helping students plan and prepare for success in the GRE and GMAT.
My short lessons cover all of the subjects on which you'll be tested, from reading and writing skills to equations and graphing. Along with each lesson, I include a quiz so you can be sure you're ready to move on. Each subject unit will end with a test, and a comprehensive exam at the end of the course will help you identify any areas that you need to study further before exam day.

"Daniel tutored me for about 8 weeks, 2-3 times a week for the GRE. He was friendly, knew his stuff, and definitely helped me to remember my high school ma
th from over 5 years ago. Great tutoring experience!"
"Daniel helped me with GRE math. We worked on problem solving, numeric entry and quantitative comparisons, all areas I really struggled with. I needed to r
aise my score by a few points, and I'm confident that Daniel's sessions will allow me to achieve that when I take my test next. Sessions were extremely useful and efficient. He used an online whiteboard, along with Skype, so that I had an easy to see breakdown of all of the problems. Not only did he help with problems, but he also gave me multiple resources to use in the future when studying for the GRE (e.g. great websites, formulas, etc.) I recommend him to everyone who needs help in math!"
"He was super great with the Math portion of the GRE material! Super helpful!"
"I️ was connected to Rod through a tutoring agency. I️ contacted the agency because I️ recently graduated college and wanted to get into grad school but ha
d not taken a math class since the 10th grade. The school I️ was applying to needed a minimum math score for the GRE, which I️ knew would be a enormous stretch for me. Additionally, I️ always had trouble with math and knew I️ would need a tutor to re-teach me everything I️ needed to know to get the score I️ wanted. Initially, the agency connected me to 3 different tutors who were all absolutely terrible! Sometimes they didn’t even know how to answer sample questions in the workbooks! Finally, I was connected to Rod. After our first meeting I️ knew he would be the one who would help me improve. After a month of intense work with him my GRE math scores actually improved a full 12 points! Beyond that, he literally taught me math in a way in which I️ actually understood it. Before I️ just thought I couldn’t learn, but now I’m confident that I️ actually retained everything and it even made sense! I’m so grateful to have met Rod because before him I️ truly felt hopeless. I️ would definitely recommend Rod to anyone who is looking to drastically improve their math skills. If you’re like me and hate math, can’t grasp it, and even feel like you just can’t learn it, then definitely contact Rod now! You won’t be sorry!"
"Bill is superb at asking leading questions to discover my own weaknesses and mistakes so we can fix them together and get to the correct answer.
ng someone to bounce various approaches to a problem really helped me understand how to solve the exercises as opposed to just memorizing the solutions"
"Gerardo is a very smart and patient person. He demonstrated in depth knowledge and proficiency on the GRE quantitative section. Likewise, his passion for
math made the subject easily accessible. Our lessons were worth every dollar spent."
"I had a great experience with Joanne. She was extremely organized and prepared, and I look forward to working with her over the next few weeks leading up
to the exam!"
"Preparing for the GRE test was a little stressful. I did not know what topics I should focus on in the little time I had, but Bill was able to break all t
he content into manageable sections. We managed to cover almost all the topics and my test went really well!"
"My first class with Leona went well and was very productive"
