I have been teaching and coaching students for over 17 years. My teaching philosophy is that every student is uniquely gifted with strengths and abilities and that learning should be fun. I seek to facilitate an enjoyable and enriching learning experience through pinpointing how the student learns and relating the material to real life situations. I strive to help my students to laugh as they learn so they can learn more quickly. Let's laugh and learn together!

The ESL lessons I teach are unique and successful. First, my teaching style is different. I consider the needs of my students. Second, I have an understanding of the various learning styles of my students and I meet them where they are at with this basic need. In addition, I have a system that contains the following curriculum: Module I 1.) Pronunciation 2.) Vocabulary 3.) Grammar 4.) Practice through conversation. Module II Test Prep: TOEIC, IETS, TOEFL Module III Conversation Starters: Business, World News, Travel, Entertainment & Life Style, Science & Technology, Sports, Language & Culture.

Every student is different, so pacing of the lessons will vary. We will work closely at all details required to comprehend the lessons. I am a very patient individual that understands the roadblocks of learning new materials.

I have a teaching experience of ESL of more than 24 years in Cuba. I have taught in colleges, for students with different academic interests, and for graduates who wanted to improve their proficiency in this language. I have also trained teachers of ESL at the language school where I worked.

In my teaching I use a communicative approach with meaningful exchanges but with a solid foundation of the formal aspects of the language too, so that students can move forward safely. I pay attention to individual differences so that each student can progress at his/her own pace with ease.

At intermediate and advanced levels I always favor the use of meaningful discussions and debate about updated issues, so that students learn how to express their opinions and ideas properly in different contexts.

I believe in creating a friendly atmosphere with meaningful human exchanges throughout my lessons.

I am the son of Brazilians who immigrated to Toronto, Canada, where I lived and studied until I was 23 years old. After returning to Brazil, I pursued a career as an ESL Instructor. Throughout these 27 years in ESL, I have assisted people from all walks of life. I have prepared business people to conduct meetings, presentations, lectures, developed students for international courses through certification exams such as TOEFL, IELTS. I believe it is of the utmost importance to adapt to each student's needs to maximize learning. Customizing the method applied in class is critical to a more effective and cost-effective learning process.

I am a UC Berkeley graduate and TEFL certified. I completed my TEFL in Thailand last year and have been teaching English online full-time for almost one year. I have a combined total of 5 years experience teaching, tutoring, and coaching English speaking and writing. I love to teach and make a difference in the world.

My lessons are fun and easy-going. There are two main strategies I use to teach Enlish:

1) General Conversation. In my "general conversation" lessons, we simply chat for the duration of our time together. During the talk, I will update corrections to the chat box in real time. Then we can discuss or you can review later at your convenience. Totally up to you!

2) Formal Lesson. In "formal lessons," I will instruct a lesson based upon your agreed skill or comfortability level. We can make this decision together. The lesson will either be based upon visual aids that I provide, online materials, or both!
