When I start a lesson in algebra, I seek to get to know how to best approach the concept in a way that works best for the student. I look for ways to improve the quality of my lessons for ways that make the most sense to students. If a student is taking a full algebra course, then we can work to make sure that the student gets the grade that they hope to achieve. I help the student by ordering their textbook if necessary and I also make videos of concepts that the student is working on to better assist them. Overall, I want my lessons to be a positive experience.

About Jamarius

I am a graduate of Alabama State University and have a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics. I have years of experience helping students in the ASU mathematics lab. I also have experience tutoring high school students as part of the ASPIRE Mentoring Program and I have tutored elementary and middle

My daughter was doing well but short of excelling in math. I sent her to Julia for that extra push and confidence that she needed. She really helped her have confidence and made her thorough with her concepts. She been doing really great ever since!

Julia is a highly knowledgeable, professional and personable teacher. My son has been tutored by her since the age of 4 and is now 13. His MAP and PARCC scores are off the charts and he just received his placements for Stevenson High School with the recommendations for the highest math classes offered to incoming freshmen. Julia taught him to love and be passionate about mathematics. Her primary goal is to make sure that the students learn in a stress-free environment and with that strategy she is able to accomplish brilliant results. I recommend Julia highly. She is very approachable and patient, loves children and loves what she does.

"Relaxed but perceptive and capable

Having read Christopher's bio, I sensed that there was something special about him, and that he was the right one for our son who has some learning challenges, particularly in the area of Math. I believe it is very important a tutor connects not only on an academic level but also where there can be some light hearted conversation. Christopher arrived punctually for our first meeting and his assessment of our son. In advance of that meeting I had explained to Christopher what the challenges are and what our collective objectives are. As soon as I saw him, he appeared to relaxed but confident. After an initial introduction, I stepped away to let Christopher and our son become acquainted and he immediately set about establishing some common ground which happened to be a particular sport. No more than Christopher, our son is also very perceptive and despite the fact that he initially resisted the idea of any tutor, his words after this first meeting were "I can work with him"! Its obviously early days yet, but so far so good!"
