I design lessons individually according to the needs and "wants" of each student. I specialize in developing and correcting technique in technique to improve the student's overall skill. Students that dedicate the time and effort each week to practicing see rapid and sustained results.

However, if you have a busy life and merely want to learn guitar for personal enjoyment, I will design your lessons to develop your skill at a pace that works for you, which can fluctuate according to your schedule.

***Young & Special Needs Students***

I teach children as young as 13 years old and adults to the age of 70 years old. When teaching younger children and individuals with special needs, it is significantly beneficial for parents to attend each lesson - I have parent seating available. When parent(s) attend lessons, the parent can assist the younger student while practicing during the week at home.

In my experience, the overall musical development and progress of younger students improve considerably when parents are involved.

***Thoughts on Musical Talent***

Musical talent is a wonderful gift, but correct technique is not easily acquired without proper instruction. Your skill level eventually plateaus and your ability to learn and perform more complicated music is inhibited, unless you have a solid foundation in music theory as it applies to your instrument(s) as well as proper technique.

I can help you build this solid foundation and will guide you through the development of musical skills; correcting flaws in technique is my specialty.

Acting – I have taught all kinds of acting, including Audition Skills, Shakespeare, Stage, Film & TV, Dramatic, Comedic, whatever. I did not know what to expect when I signed up to take classes with Susan. I decided to take classes with her for two reasons: Her studio is not far from me and 2, the good reviews left by her clients. All I wanted was to learn the fundamentals and techniques about acting. Susan was excellent and very patient. She offered water in each lesson, which is also very kind. Her interpersonal connection brings a sense of comfort. Her studio is very neat and welcoming. I do not have regrets in my selections and I know you won't be disappointed too.

My name is Grant and I’ve been helping students grow for almost 10 years now! How time flies! I started playing music at the age of 9 and have been in love with it ever since, staying active in my local music scene as an instructor, performer, manager, and booking agent. I have also earned a degree in Creative Writing from Louisiana State University for all of the students wishing improve their writing skills!

In addition to freelance work, (weddings, jazz brunch gigs, etc.) I am the lead guitarist for the Funk/R&B band Water Seed and the soul project RetroFit. I attended Indiana University for jazz guitar and have studied under jazz greats Dan Miller, Corey Christiansen, and Oteil Burbridge.

I've performed all over the world as a singer, and have always incorporated my piano as much as I can. I have had a joint number one in the UK, as well as other singles in the charts and have done arena tours throughout the UK and Europe. I have masses of performance experience and a lot of industry contacts as well.

I was Editor-in-Chief of an undergraduate publication for International Affairs at The George Washington University from 2012-2013 where I led a group of editors in publishing academic papers and articles that GWU students had written. I was in charge of the layout, design, and eventual printing of these academic journals. I edited many academic papers and have a lot of experience giving feedback and constructive comments.

During my four years as an undergraduate at GWU, I also wrote for my college newspaper, “The GW Hatchet” as a news reporter writing about articles of interest in the Washington, DC area. Benjamin is a graduate of The George Washington University where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in International Affairs and Political Science with a minor in Geographic Information Systems.

In addition to his undergraduate studies, Benjamin has spent the last two years and a half overseas in Istanbul, Turkey where he worked as an ESL High School Teacher and most recently in Medellin, Colombia where he was an English Teaching Fellow with the Heart for Change Volunteer Program to support the efforts of creating a more bilingual Colombia.

Benjamin has a background in both the Spanish and Turkish languages and is currently developing his proficiency in Portuguese. Benjamin is an individual who is dependable, motivated and personable.
