Struggling with writing? Reading? Getting your ideas and concepts out there for others to enjoy? Try a few lessons and see if your world doesn't open up!

About Marsha
The Recital was fabulous- thanks for all your work.

Goals: Since I am also a Life Coach, we really focus on how to accomplish our hopes and desires. We begin by weekly, then monthly and even a yearly goal.

Each week we also focus on something in my STUDENT PAL - mnemonic. Another is TECHNIQUE. Technique is the ability to have proper position, wrist-lifts and finger curve as well as Theoretic knowledge and application.

I started giving out lickable gold stars, you know, the old-fashioned kind? They are for those students who mark their lesson sheet and come prepared... They really seem to enjoy that, and I adore the nostalgia!

It is a great week when students are nearly all prepared and ready for their lessons. This makes both Coach and student more effective and the time together more enjoyable.

Perhaps you are reading
this with both a little excitement and a little concern. Finding the right person for your or your student can be intimidating. A short introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy which can assist you make an informed decision. If we are a good fit, lessons and learning progress more joyfully.

I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven. I have since taught the students of former students! How fun is that?

Music has blessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Teaching at the Young Artists Conservatory of Music; Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years has been a delight.

I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons, which we revisit monthly. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them/you to accomplish the goals set, working with music that delights and educates.

You want the best teacher, who offers information, example, practice and performance opportunities and then gets out of the way of the student's own "voice" (whether playing or singing) so that they can be free to create their own style.

*** Lesson Details ***
In our lessons, we work with a predictable schedule of balance. We have weekly exercises to make strong fingers and or voices, and technique and theory practice to hone skills that will improve our performances, whether they are for others or for our own benefit. Each student of piano can learn how to create and write their own music in time, choose their own pieces to work on, and have a say in their classical and performance goals.

We have a program of advancement, so you and your loved ones can visually see your progress and measure your skills, complete with awards and trophies.

What you learn, has everything to do with your commitment. Practice doesn't make perfect, Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect.

Learning the piano ought to be a JOY. I believe in playing the piano, not 'practicing' it. Enjoy what you do, and you'll do it longer and with celebration instead of duty.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano - upright; CD player; Music stands; Dozens of music books and lesson materials; flash cards; computer and music writing program; mic and mirror, syllabus.

*** Travel Equipment ***
No travel.

*** Specialties ***
Over the years I have dabbled in most methods, but finally come to use my own syllabus and musicianship. I can easily adapt to your favourite if that is your desire. I specialize in a total music education, not merely in learning notes. It is like looking in a mirror and only seeing eyes and skin. Music has many facets and we discover all of them.

Lisa is amazing at teaching. I was looking for singing lessons since a friend of mine asked to sing at her wedding and I am grateful I found Lisa. She has help me with the song, gave me vocal and breathing techniques to reach high tones and even fix the guitar tablatures to match my voice to play it at the wedding. I will keep taking more lessons!!

About Naomi
I was originally born in Cincinnati, Ohio in a large family (youngest of nine kids), and we all attended Catholic schools... this is where I started learning Spanish. I returned from Mexico fluent, graduated from college with honors in language and Humanities, then decided to go live in Washington, DC to use that language. I got into corporate training, working 10 years at Fannie Mae as I traveled to 38 of the 50 states to help them train banks on their financial systems. I later began working in healthcare, and got certified as an interpreter AND as an Instructional Designer. I have designed educational programs ever since at hospitals, schools, educational centers, retail organizations, and with hig

If you are looking for a Spanish teacher look no further! Naomi is a very skilled and phenomenal teacher. I have taken her class for the last 10 months and I truly can see the progress I have made with her teaching style. She not only has set lessons from the book, but she will bring real-world examples such as food, newspapers, and music! I recently traveled to the Dominican Republic and I was amazed at how easily I was able to hold a conversation. The people there let me know that my Spanish was very good. It was definitely a compliment for me. I believe that a student is only as good as their teacher. Naomi is the right teacher!

I have 2.5 years of experience teaching English outside of the US.
I love helping students in order to help them reach a specific goal or increase their confidence; It's fun for me to spend time with others in general and especially when I am able to help them gain a better understanding of something that's hard for them to grasp. I know it can be hard to have lessons in addition to normal school/work hours and that's why it's important and fun for me to create engaging lessons with a relaxed atmosphere.

About Molly
I just returned to the US after 2.5 years of living abroad and teaching English to non-native speakers. I have experience tutoring ages 5-50 and a B.S. in Psychology which provides with a lot of knowledge on learning styles and methods.

I'm fascinated by language and the way people communicate and hence, absolutely love teaching English. I have learned foreign languages myself, so I know from experience what it requires and how rewarding it is.

I love tutoring others in order to help them reach a specific goal or increase their confidence; It's fun for me to spend time with others in general and especially when I am able to help them gain a better understanding of something that's hard for them to grasp or master. I know it can be hard to have lessons in addition to normal work/school hours and that's why it's important and fun
for me to create engaging lessons with a relaxed atmosphere. I always make sure to allow the student to share what they'd like to focus on and listen to their thoughts or ideas about our lessons.

I had been taking conversation lessons with Molly in Israel for about 1.5 years till Molly left to US. I really enjoyed every lesson, the conversation wasn't just boring grammatics lessons but discussions about cultural differences, history, politics and many others. Before we started, I had been ashamed of my English and had preferred to avoid communicating, now the whole new english speaking world is open to me. Thanks a lot, Molly!

About Gabriela
I'm an artist, educator, and scholar who uses a methodological, student-centered approach to help you achieve your goals. I teach music lessons and provide reading and writing tutoring to beginning and intermediate students. Here's some more specific info on each one of my services:
___________________________________________________________________________
Music Lessons:
After completing my undergraduate education at Santa Clara University, where I majored in flute and vocal performance, I freelanced as a music professional in the San Francisco Bay Area for three years. I then relocated to the University of Notre Dame, where I received a Master of Sacred Music degree in voice and directed a children's choir in the Notre Dame Children's Choir. I also taught percussion and competed as a marching percussionist for six years, winning the
award of "Best Percussionist" with the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets and leading my groups to successful competitions during the fall marching season and the winter indoor percussion season. I'm currently a freelancing vocal professional in Baltimore.

If you're looking for voice instruction, flute instruction, or you'd simply like to learn and hone music skills (like sight reading, rhythms, ear-training) from a high-level musician with a broad range of experience, please contact me!
____________________________________________________________________________
Reading and Writing Tutoring:
I have successfully tutored undergraduate and graduate students in reading and writing for over eight years. At Santa Clara University, where I received a B.A. in English, I was vice-president of the English Honor Society and tutored undergraduate students for first-year composition courses. At San Francisco State University I earned my M.A. degree in English Composition, a degree which focuses on the teaching of college-level reading and writing. There I served as a tutor for the English Tutoring Center and the Student Success Program.

If you're a beginning student looking for reading and writing tutoring where I teach you writing skills (like brainstorming, drafting, and editing) or an intermediate student who simply needs an extra pair of eyes to bring your writing to the next level, please contact me!

I look forward to hearing how I can help you reach your goals.

I am a Certified Interpreter in five languages with the US Defense Language Institute Monterrey, California.

English is my third language but I didn’t stop here. I taught my mother and so many others tips on how to learn this language faster.
If you speak a Romantic language, even better; I’ll find “anchors” to help you connect the dots and allow you to find English words faster.
If your native language is not among the Romantic ones, don’t dispair (though my assumption is that you stopped reading by now). Mentors are critical, and I’ll teach you ways to find balance, consistency, and discipline in learning English as a Second Language.

About Isabela
I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested student who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I be
lieve in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.
