Vivien is excellent at addressing issues in my playing, while also encouraging me to continue to do well what she deems good playing. She has a positive attitude every lesson and I always feel invigorated to practice more afterwards and put forth more energy into music. I am grateful to have a teacher that challenges me and gives me confidence in my skills.

Hello, nice to meet you here! Charlotte is my English name that a priest pricked up for me when I traveled to Italy in the 90's, it means little and womanly which is opposites from my Chinese name(I'll tell you how to write it after you select me as your tutor). My Chinese name is very manly and positive just like my personality-- positive and a Tom boy.
I was born and grew up in a tutoring business family in Taiwan ( the free, democratic, USA-like small island next to China), Mandarin Chinese is my mother tongue. I was a TV journalist in Taiwan before I came to the USA to pursue my Master degree at Georgetown University in 2002. After the graduation I started working in American global corporations and lived between Taiwan and USA on and off due to works until I met my American husband in 2012 and I am an American citizen now .
rrently I'm an entrepreneur after my global marketing professional careers in American globalized corporations. I guess I was born with tutoring gene so I have passions about education and feel like sharing my knowledge about Mandarin Chinese with people who are interested in learning it will be fun and rewarding. It might also help people from two different cultures understand each other better.
In my leaseiure time, I love gardening, birds watching, hiking, jogging, photographing and traveling. I never smoke, never do drugs and don't really drink. I am into healthy and organic life style. I've been a learner of foreign languages for 15 years, I teach Chinese and English occasionally, as well as volunteer for cross cultural communication organizations to better understand the cultural context of languages. My goal in teaching Mandarin Chinese is to cater to each student's personal goals, be it conversational or to dive deep into the fascinating culture, I'll be able to provide assistance in realizing that goal.
I'm a marketing communication student from Beijing, China. I've been learning English for 15 years, and I came to the US during high school for a cultural exchange program. I think the immersive environment of a foreign language is crucial to the speed and effect of the learning progress. Even though it's not that easy to accomplish in another country, I still try to provide appropriate context to create an environment close to the native scenes. Personally I also study Korean and Spanish, which gives me a perspective on how to learn languages that from different language families, and to study at different ages. I've been volunteering for the same cultural exchange organization for 8 years, during which time I came to contact with students from different continents and native languages. I fully understand the obstacles of easing into M
andarin Chinese language system as beginners, getting comfortable with the grammar frame as intermediate learners, as well as the advanced written and spoken skills desired by advanced learners (as a Beijinger, I speak Standard Chinese aka Putonghua).

A creative, fun, and professional Chinese language educator:)
"Monique was so kind and made me feel so comfortable. I am excited to keep learning. I could not have found a better teacher"
"Sharon is such an awesome teacher! She was sooo patient with me and gracious as she helped me learn new language and corrected my tones. I loved having he
r as my teacher!"
"Ying is an excellent tutor. My 15 year old daughter who has been studying Mandarin since 4 years old needed help with formal essay writing and Ying went a
bove and beyond to help guide her. Ying reviewed her essay before class and highlighted all the sentences that they would discuss during class. Ying gave advice on sentence structure, different ways to phrase something, punctuation and a whole lot more. She was very patient and clear with her explanations. Our daughter thought she was amazing. Also, she was very responsive and clear in her communication before the first class. I highly recommend Ying."
"Our first instructor. She is lovely, knowledgeable and professional."
"Matt is excellent at sharing the different tones for Chinese. His native language english makes it easier for me to understands how to transition from Eng
lish to Chinese."
"I was taking Chinese at university level, but my professor was very fast paced and I didn't get much practice speaking. That's why I loved taking lessons
with Zhenni! She's very thorough - correcting my grammar, tones or pronunciation whenever I make a mistake so that I don't develop bad habits. She also supplied a lot of additional insight into how modern people speak Chinese, so that I would sound more authentic and not just repeat lines I learned from a text book. Zhenni is also very personable and easy to talk to, which I found really helped me not be so self conscious when she would ask me to have a conversation in Chinese."
"Excellent hand tailored lessons specifically for me. Enjoy each and every lesson."
