Comprehension, reading, and writing

About Daniel
My name is Daniel B. I have my B. Sci degree in Psychology/Neuroscience and I am currently a Research Assistant at Harvard Medical School. My academic focus lies in neurodegenerative diseases, schizophrenia, memories, and consciousness.

Since its founding in 2006, I have been involved Neighbor to Neighbor Outreach (NTNO), a non-profit organization whose goal it is to insure that the children, youth, and adults of inner-city St. Louis are provided tutoring for every imaginable subject. Upon graduation, I moved to Boston to continue research in preparation for a PhD in Neuroscience. Here, i continue to tutor within and outside the university setting.

My teaching style is quite simple and effective. I initially gauge the student's level of understanding of the subject or skill that he/she wishes to master. I then create a comprehensiv
e learning plan which pushes the student to his/her limits while making the learning process both enjoyable and rewarding.

If you find yourself in need of my assistance, just let me know. I am able to work around your schedule and I am available to be contacted anytime.

Daniel was the perfect tutor for my son's prep for the GED. He was patient, prepared to help with test taking skills along with the actual content of the tests, and made himself available on a very short notice. In addition, Daniel is just a nice, respectful person that was a pleasure to interact with. I can not say enough. Highly recommend him!

Just from our first lesson I can tell that I will improve my abilities by leaps and bounds under Carla's instruction. She adapted our lesson to my learning level within minutes of my arrival. We made great progress during the meeting, and I have plenty of take-away to keep me busy until our next lesson.

English and what falls underneath it is all a beautiful way of life, but knowing the basics is important. Being of age is a very challenging experience for me because I have to use the wisdom and strength that I have to succeed. English has taught me multiple ways of getting information across this world and to be able to teach it to individuals is a plus for me. I have the patience and ability to give to others so that they are aware of what I know and what there is to gain about English.

About Alexus
My name is Alexus G. Hunter. I'm from Clarksdale, Mississippi. Self proclaimed social media junkie at times, a graduate of Tougaloo College located in Jackson, Ms. My major is Mass Communications with an emphasis in Journalism and Advertising. My goals are BIGGER than life itself. I'm a daughter, sister, friend, and like a lot of people in this industry, a pursing writer. This is my story, writing is where I escape to. My classes can be adapted to the needs of each student. We can follow a traditional methodology (focusing on the area that involves more difficulty), or combine it with more up-to-date exercises and activities (working with TV shows and series, music, conversations ...) where, without realizing, you will be learning and at the same time internalizing the language in a different way.

About Lucia
Hello! My name is Lucia, I am native Spanish speaker from Barcelona, Spain.
I started teaching students when I was very young at the age of 17 as a private tutor.

My passion for teaching went on so I ended up doing a master in education for Spanish and English language after getting my degree in Translation & interpreting.

I was an english teacher in a private school during two years in Barcelona. Now I am moving to Boston and I am very excited to have my new team of students! Really looking forward to meeting you!

When I moved to Spain for work reasons, I spoke very little Spanish. Lucia came recommended and I am so pleased to have met her. Lucia did something so simple and yet so crucial for anyone learning a new language: she made me feel comfortable speaking it with her. I’m a pretty shy person, but Lucia made me feel at home and as a result I spoke more freely and quickly became more confident... it’s a chain reaction which allowed me to socialize more and better with Spaniards, which in turn has also helped me improve greatly my language skills. Lucia connects on a personal level while never ceasing to be extremely professional. My classes with her helped me greatly as I adapted to my new life here in Spain.

Thanks Lucia!
