Teresa was awesome! She worked with me and my limited flexibility and really set me up for success with exercises to integrate into my routine. She was also very cognizant of a prior injury and presented long term alternate solutions to tissue regrowth. I really look forward to working with her again!

She was really great, we have only had one lesson so far but she made me feel very comfortable and I feel like she will be perfect for me helping me get over my stage fright. She came up with quite a few ideas up front and can tell she is taking it seriously, which makes me even more confident in her because it is such a serious issue for me. I am looking forward to working with her.

***My Promise to You***
I will treat you like an individual - that means that we'll find out how YOU learn best, and we'll work that way. I don't teach memorization. I teach by asking and answering questions, as well as providing information.
***My Expectation of You***
That you will come with an open mind, come with questions, and a willingness to learn and have fun.
*The Humanities* The reason so many people go screaming into the night when confronted with lessons in things like history, or government, or English for that matter, are all the names and dates to memorize. I don't teach that way. We begin with things you want (or need) to know. From there, we cover how those things affected other things, It's a huge world out there, and how we got here from where we started is a wonderful and complicated trip. History doesn't happen in a vacuum, and we learn who we are by knowing where we come from.
*Papers* Obviously I won't write your paper for you, but I will show you how and where to start your research (and how to sort it as well). I will also proof-read for grammar and/or organizational errors and show you how to structure it in general terms.
*Drama* I have acted, I have directed. From the community to professional levels. We will talk about character creation, about staging, about working with your director as well as your fellow actors. We will mostly brainstorm, and you will be able to experiment in vision as well as technique.
I am an improve and film actor. With my acting students we work on connecting, timing, cold reading, auditioning, picking material, reacting, getting out of your head, nerves and being authentic. I would love to help you with your work today. Message me and lets talk!

As the amazed grand-daughter of David Smason, a successful vaudeville Orchestra leader, I have enjoyed many years of educational and professional experiences as an actress, teacher, and director in venues of all sizes. Besides performing leading and supporting roles in over 30 productions, including Suzie-" Wait Until Dark", Rosemary- "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", Miss Mazeppa-"Gypsy", Lalume " Kismet", I also performed and/or staged several original reviews such as SF's " The Distractions", " On Being Female", and " The Van Spronsen Variety Showcase". Directing/coaching "The Sound of Music", multiple productions of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and "Your a Good Man Charlie Brown" leading orchestras, choirs, and workshops for churches, schools and communities has given me a strong appreciation for artistic collaboration. earning a BA in Theater Arts from SFSU, all ages and levels, comic to tragic, specializing in musicals, I have successfully ...
IMPORTANT NOTICES: AS much as I have enjoyed my Minnesota students, PLEASE NOTE that I am moving away from Mn. winters to the Phoenix Az. area at the end of September 2019 when I will be taking students ONLINE ONLY UNTIL November 2019, then my home studio will reopen.
** Because my private lessons are sporadically scheduled between other teaching, all lessons for age 12 and over are a minimum of one hour.
Due to my maternal grandfather's career as a Chicago vaudeville orchestra leader, from early childhood, the performing arts have been in my blood. Starting to study classical flute at age 12, then playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and taking professional jazz/classical flute workshops/master classes, I've been teaching and playing all styles of flute music professionally since my 20's.
Vocal study began at age
15 with some great artists/educators in SF, Seattle, and Europe, including Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy, Broadway singer Adrian West, David Tigner- SF Opera, Davida Kagan-Seattle Opera, and Roland Wyatt- Manhattan Transfer coach /NY Academy of Dramatic Arts. Through many years of teaching experience, I've developed a very successful, uniquely simple 8 part method to help cross cultural individuals/groups of all ages , styles, and levels, sing optimally from their hearts. The necessary basic vocal techniques can be taught effectively in 4 to 8 lessons (depending on one's previous experience), though integrating the technique into your own style can take longer and usually continues throughout one's lifetime.
With a BA in Theater Arts from San Francisco State University, and over 50 years directing, acting, and musical experience, including the last 15 years also working successfully as an ESL educator, I have gained the confidence to help almost any student achieve their educational and/or professional goals.
I play Marty on the Golden Globe winning show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Whether you are an actor looking to take your career up a notch or just want an awesome way to build focus and confidence, we will achieve your goals together. As a teacher and working actor in film/tv, classical theater and improv comedy, there are few things I love as much as assisting students in making breakthroughs and discoveries.
From the hit TV comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to drama at The Tony Award winning Steppenwolf Theater, my 20 year acting career has taught me many lessons to share. As a working writer/director this has only grown.
I love teaching. There are few things as rewarding as being a part of a students development and their personal victories. Many of my students have achieved notable representation and consistently work. Other students are simply pursuing acting as a passion or a tool to gain confidence. Whether it's audition prep or personal development, if you bring the drive, I promise to get you to your goals ... oh, and we'll have a lot of fun on the way. After all, it's called a "play" for a reason.
Acting is such a broad term! What are your goals? Do you want to be in films? Do you want to do Shakespeare? Do you want to be in a sit com? Depending upon what your interests are and where you want to go, we will build a plan together. My philosophy on acting techniques is that they are tools to help you, not tests you pass if you're a good actor and fail if you're a bad one. Different techniques work for different people and it is our job to find out what inspires you.
I've worked as a professional actor for many years, performed on Broadway, have my MFA in Performing Arts, and my BA in Arts and Education. I was an assistant director to Tony-winner Sharon Ott and have written and produced my own work. I have experience in both stage and camera acting, which have specific technical differences, but are both a lot of fun once you get used to the medium. Audition technique, preparing monologues, and creating promotional materials are also things I can help with. Anyone who wants to ...
My approach is both supportive and pragmatic, based on where each individual's skill set is right now and what your specific goals are. I've had the benefit of both formal instruction as well as a decade in the "school of hard knocks." Climbing up the ladder to earn my Equity Card on a Production Contact taught me a lot and I believe gave me a nuanced perspective as a performer.
Over 95% of my career is from attending open calls, including finding representation and my Broadway debut.
I continue to audition for film, television, and theatre, as well as perform in concerts and other venues. I write and produce my own work and am currently signed with Roth and Associates East.
A-mazing! She’s an awesome mentor! Her approach to singing is brilliant in the sense that she helps you explore yourself, your strengths and areas you could work on to improve. She helps you find and utilize your voice in a way that makes a unique artist. She digs in right to the foundation of singing (vocals) and performing. I am glad to have found her! And to add up, I never had a dull moment with her with her sense of humor and caring approach!

Rebecca immediately made my granddaughter comfortable. Rebecca is a sweet, charming woman who, I can see, works very well with both children and adults. She is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to make people feel good about themselves.
I have been working professionally in the industry from a very young age, and as a current working actor, I know what is happening in the audition rooms, and how to help guide & teach young actors so they can grow and be confident. Not only have I taught for over 5+ years, but I have performed with actors of varying ages, which has helped me to really connect and make sure I can help students find age appropriate material that they can identify with & enjoy working on while they navigate what it means to be an actor.
Hi there! Looking to work on new audition material, prepare for a callback, improve your cold-reading skills, and more? I'm eager to work with you!

Carolyn German has been absolutely wonderful to work with. She's a great combination of friendly, yet professional, and brings many years of varied experience to her craft into the teaching experience. She's very easy to work with, I never felt self-conscious about any of what I consider to be my flaws, and she has truly helped me to develop more well-rounded characters, as well as some very much needed self-confidence.

"I am ultimately new and have a ways to go with this, but for someone who has just entered and is exploring acting, her advice is just plain excellent!"
"Supportive and dynamic acting coach!
Natalie coached me on my monologue for a grad school audition, and she was wonderfully responsive. She cultivates a
teaching environment of comfort and productivity right from the start with a full vocal and physical warm-up. When I began working with my prepared piece, I felt relaxed and supported. Natalie's suggestions were growth-oriented and ensured my performance communicated a meaningful journey. Her follow-up emails after each session built upon the work done in studio with reminders and actionable tactics."
"She really works well with kids."
"Toya is such an awesome and fun acting coach to work with. She is wonderful to work with and truly would recommend her to anyone who is interested in or n
