Grew up in America (born in Taiwan) for over 13 years and native speaker of both English and Mandardin Chinese.

I lived in China for over 2 years. I studied Chinese in two different cities (Qingdao and Yiwu). I have many Chinese friends and learned much of the Mandarin that I know through immersion. I have also done a lot of traveling in China and have studied Chinese culture and music.
I use the book "New Practical Chinese Reader," Anki (flashcards), Pleco (dictionary), and HSK 1-4 vocabulary. I prefer to emphasize pronunciation and conversational speaking as they tend to have the biggest impact on day to day use.

I have more than nine years of language teaching experience. I have learned five languages over the years in China and overseas. I started tutoring Chinese students (age 8-16) English and Chinese when I was 19 and I founded my first summer camp in China when I was 20. Students who had registered for my summer camp increased from 25 in 2010 to 86 in 2016. I've gained very valuable skills and perspectives in teaching, not just as a teacher, but also as a student--students are my teachers too--I've learned there are always places that I can improve and better help them learn languages. Students' "needs" and "wants" are prioritized. It helps students achieve their goals while combined with students' "lacks" in lesson planning. Students should get involved in the lesson planning process.

I am both patient and enthusiastic as a teacher. I speak Mandarin Chinese as my native language, and can help my students progress to a high level. Once I have determined the student's level, I work with them to help them improve according to their goals.

I've been teaching Chinese for almost 8 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of Chinese language, culture and more! Within the first few lessons, you'll start learning and speaking simple practical Chinese characters and sentences and as time goes on, you'll be able to write and speak Chinese fluently.I typically use worksheets, living textbooks,Chinese songs, role play and more. I love working with students of all experience levels.
