Do you want to sound more confident and convey your messages more clearly? Are you terrified of speaking publicly? Do you experience frequent vocal fatigue? We will work together to overcome all this and more. As a professional vocalist, I have spent years thinking about the voice and using it as a tool for communication and can help you achieve your goals for vocal clarity and health.
I am a professional opera singer, active performer, and avid teacher of voice. My teaching focuses on exercises that strengthen your voice so you can sing (and speak!) clearly, beautifully, and resonantly. These exercises will help reduce fatigue, raspiness, hoarseness, and strain in your speaking voice. Through our work together, you can expect to build confidence in your speaking voice and to more freely express yourself. I hope to hear you soon!
Our voice is one of many ways to communicate, it is a gift and an amazing gift at that. Our voice can be used to communicate, interact, teach, tell a story, display how we feel, transport people’s hearts to another place or time; to name a few. Being able to use your voice is one thing but to also be able to perform and have your audience receive you well takes skills and training. I will help you engage with your audience while you display your art through your voice.
Being a public speaker, for many years, I have honed the skills of presentation, speech writing, and love helping others feel more confident in front of camera or large numbers of people. Between being a contest winner with Toastmasters and several years of delivering text for television commercials, I have much to offer. To see my public speaking style go to YouTube Stephanie Quinn Music and look for my masterclasses and tutorials.
Projection and tone of your voice is your calling card, sometimes before the meaning of the words are understood. Sometimes, your voice precedes your appearance or is heard over the phone, on speaker monitor or over the airwaves. How do you wish it to sound? As we know, it does not sound the way we hear it with our ears. Record your voice and listen to the recording. As you may be aware, you may not recognize it as you know it. The art of projection and intonation - nasal tone or the covered voice or being brash in its tonality. Too high, too low, monotonous, lethargic or over-modulated.... I will help you to get to your ideal voice. The voice that stops the listener in their tracks and makes them hear what you have to say. More importantly, the impression of you as an individual personality is formed by the impression your voice leaves and at first, makes. If you want to do voice over work, acting, public speaking, change the way you are perceived, build confidence or get into vocal work such as books on audio, announcing, faith preaching or sports - you have come to the right place. I will lead you with warming up and preserving your natural voice in professional vocal routines. I will let you be the judge of where your voice needs to go but allow you to fine tune it with my professional and experienced hearing. I taught voice to professional singers at the University of Southern California, collaborated with the singers of the Metropolitan Opera, working with actors, businessmen, clergy and in a private practice on both coasts of the United States. My vocal performance has culminated with the NY Philharmonic at the Lincoln Center with the Juilliard Choir where my training was received during my performance degrees program. I have been a public speaker, radio host and worked both in front as well as behind the camera in film production. My advisors include Merilyn Horne and Luciano Pavarotti. I look forward to hearing your voice and to working with you.
