Chinese language learning materials as part of an integrated curriculum designed to motivate students in non-native Chinese environments to start speaking Chinese.
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis. I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham. I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system. Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc.... The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Hello, I am Shanshan, a passionate language teacher! I've been teaching since 2010. With expertise in linguistics and language teaching, I have taught Chinese and ESL to different groups from elementary school students to adults aged from 18-70. I am a native Chinese speaker and proficient in English. Teaching has been the most rewarding thing to do in my life! Can't wait to help you to improve your Chinese!
If you plan to use Chinese at work, we can focus our lessons around dialogue and vocabulary that relates directly to your job or industry. If you are a student and want to improve your academic performance in Chinese, I can train you to utilize more efficient ways of studying and practicing. If you would like to gain exposure to or build a foundation in Mandarin Chinese, I can also help you accomplish this.
I am a native Chinese speaker with a BA in English and MBA in Global Management from Thunderbird. I worked as an English to Chinese translator for 2 years in the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing, and volunteered as an interpreter for the City of Austin. During graduate school, I was a Chinese tutor/language partner for a few of my classmates, all of whom made big progress in their fluency and pronunciation.
Students can expect to set goals for each week and to be given assignments to practice in between lessons.
Larry is a native of Taiwan, and speaks English & Mandarin fluently. He teaches Mandarin Chinese in any of the boroughs of New York City, online, or at his home location. He prepares each lesson and holds students accountable for practicing before each lesson. The Better Chinese method is one method that he uses for young beginners, and he also has an online curriculum for students of any age to practice.
Larry started tutoring Mandarin Chinese while he was still a student at the BYU-Idaho in 2007 and has continued teaching after moving to NYC.
I have lived in China for 4 years and my wife is Chinese. With our combined experience we will have no problem bringing your Chinese up to any level you like.
I went to Pensacola Catholic High and graduated in 2003. I then attended and Auburn University, where I became a Christian, and graduated in 2007. Once I finished, I went overseas to teach English and do missions. I taught in Thailand from 2003-2007 and then in China from 2012-2016. I have been teaching since that time and am back home now to get my Master's degree in TESOL. I enjoy teaching people and watching their confidence grow as they learn new skills and develop new abilities. My teaching style is relaxing but challenging; as much as possible, I encourage and motivate students to have a love of learning, not just of this subject but of learning in general.
I am a native Chinese speaker. I can speak five languages. I have years of languages (Chinese & English) teaching experience. I am certified to teach in public schools in China. I believe interaction and immersion are effective approaches to learn a new language. Learning a new language with a native speaker is ten times efficient than learning from language apps. Lessons are customized. Communicative language and Chinese culture would be prioritized while making lesson plans. To learn a new language, it's not simply about the language itself. The more you know about the culture, the better you appreciate the language.
I have 10 years of language teaching experience. I have learned eight languages and dialects over the years in China and overseas. I started tutoring Chinese students (age 8-16) English and Chinese in 2009 and I founded my first summer camp in China in 2010. Students who had registered for my summer camp increased from 25 in 2010 to 86 in 2016. I've gained very valuable skills and perspectives in teaching, not just as a teacher, but also as a student--students are my teachers too--I've learned there are always places that I can improve and better help them learn languages. Students' "needs" and "wants" are prioritized. It helps students achieve their goals while combined with students' "lacks" in lesson planning. Students should get involved in the lesson planning process.
Interest is the best teacher. When I taught non-native Chinese
speakers (in China, South Korea and the U.S) Chinese, it seemed it stimulated their curiosity and interest to learn Chinese when cultural elements were introduced--such as characters' origin and visualization, historical contexts and cultural traditions. I hope that approach can also bring you an enjoyable experience learning a new language!
To help you be able to use Chinese, our language learning is mainly through interactive and communicative approaches. Talk! Talk! Talk! Please don't be shy. It's okay to make mistakes. Learning from mistakes is also a very effective way to learn a new language. We can make more contextualized dialogues based on whatever textbook you are using now. Or we can produce functional conversation based on everyday topics that you are interested. Lesson plans are customized and they can be flexible.
Ready to get on the boat and sail on the sea of Chinese? :)
Grew up in America (born in Taiwan) for over 13 years and native speaker of both English and Mandardin Chinese.
I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.
I enjoy tutoring (doing it ever since I was in high school for my classmates) and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!

"Alina is wonderful. There's just no substitute for a professional teacher like her if you really want to learn a language. I think this is especially true
for a language that is as difficult and foreign (to an English speaker at least) as Mandarin. Thanks to Alina, I finally have gotten the hang of the tones and am learning the characters for real. I LOVE the textbook she teaches out of--it's part of a very thorough series of Chinese language-learning textbooks, the sort you would use in an actual class at a university or in an immersion program. In addition, she prepares pdfs which she sends me to supplement the textbook vocabulary/grammar. We're on chapter 6 now and I'm feeling very excited and motivated because after years of wanting to learn Mandarin and dabbling casually with various materials, I feel that I've finally begun to make progress.
Alina, in addition to being a great teacher, is also a very warm and considerate person. She won't make you feel pressured or uncomfortable if you aren't perfectly prepared for your lesson. She's also been very conscientious about sending materials, being on time for our lessons, and making sure that I understood all of the lesson material, even if it means going a little over the designated hour. I highly recommend her to anyone who is serious about learning Mandarin."
"She is really a nice teacher open to discuss talk and explain things the way needed. I recommend her for future students."
"Miss Ge is a very professional and passionate teacher. I had her Mandarin lesson online and she helped me to fall in love with language learning just like
she has promised. To me, the most important thing of language learning is to trigger and maintain interest and she did it. I would highly recommend her to everyone."
"He's awesome with my kids 9&11. They both have totally different learning styles and he's focused on there individual needs. He's teaching them on subject
s that there interested in as well as day to day not just making them learn straight from a book which helps motivate them. My daughter and son look forward to each and every lesson."
"Very patient teacher. Great to get feedback on areas to focus so my kids can be more proficient in conversational mandarin."
"Matt is an incredible teacher and person in general. He understands so much about chinese and is able to easily communicate the lessons in a way that I c
an understand and practice between classes. I bought the 10 lesson pack from him and I'm an incredibly happy purchaser at lesson 9. My wife is chinese, and Matt gives me great sayings to take back to her. She is always excited to see the results of our lessons. When I ask her to teach me something she says go ask Matt."
"Good first lesson, I look forward to working with her as we get better acquainted."
"I took about 6 months of Mandarin lessons with Connor, and myself and my Taiwanese family members all notice how far I’ve come. In just these months, I ha
ve come much closer than I could have expected to my goal of being able to understand basic Mandarin conversations. Connor personalized my lessons to focus on the Taiwanese variations spoken by my family. He is not only knowledgeable in language and culture, but it is also very apparent that he has learned how to teach. He is patient and moves at a pace that fits with my schedule as an adult learner. I absolutely recommend him!"
"I've had a great experience so far. Yiju is patient, enthusiastic, and fun. Her lessons are easy to get into and the time flies by really fast. She's very
engaging on cultural topics, illustrates a variety of ways to say something, and is generally very organized and punctual. She has been very accommodating to my requests and helping me learn in a way that works for me. Since I had my own study materials before I started lessons with her, she has worked with me to practice the material I studied already. I would definitely recommend her."
