Marie is an incredible teacher — we meet weekly, and I always look forward to our sessions! As a beginner French student, Marie is incredibly patient, kind, and educating. Through a variety of learning techniques (audio, visual, and kinetic), she teaches language through proper pronunciation and grammar. I greatly appreciate the individual approach, tailored to my abilities, and always warm and inviting. If you are on the fence about signing up for lessons, I highly encourage you to reach out to Marie! She has my highest recommendation.

Marie is patient, thorough and at the same time holds high standards for her students. It is difficult to keep a younger child engaged, yet she does it with ease.

The best part of my tutoring is to give a good start for beginners. It will be the easy way. Students will be led step by step to gain knowledge and skills in speaking, reading, writing, and grammar issues as well. An easy start gives an easy way to go.

About Sergey

As I speak two languages English and Russian, I can teach both. Russian is my native language, so students can learn Russian from the native speaker. And that is the best way to learn foreign languages. I've been teaching Russian since 2010 and I use my own method, which is not like in boring books

About Keith

Hi, my name is Keith and I have been involved in music from an early age. I love playing and teaching piano. I started taking lessons at the age of 9, and soon added trumpet and French Horn to my list of instrumental music lessons. I continued, through High School and College, taking music classes

Keith was a good teacher to our son, he was patient and kind. Our son learned a lot from him, we hope in the future to use him again, if the opportunity arises. Thanks Keith!

Keith is an amazing teacher. My 7 year old son likes him very much. Before the lessons I worried our boy couldn’t build his interest in playing piano, just lose his enthusiasm after a while as the 7 years old always did. But Keith make me totally worry free, my son likes him very much, and he really knows how to build the kid’s interests and confidence while learning. Now my son enjoyed himself very much with Keith in their piano time. We are so lucky to find Keith.
Amy
We had four in-home lessons with Keith and he never once arrived on time. And not like 5 minutes late because of bad traffic or something. Once he was 40 minutes late, and another time he was 45 minutes late. For an hour lesson. At first I though there was some confusion because the time on take lessons was slightly different than the time we agreed to (he asked if we could start earlier than the time slot that was listed, and I agreed) but after speaking with him about it, we were both on the same page as to what time the lesson *should* begin, he just never arrived on time. He seems to be very overbooked and busy and does not respect his clients’ time. He told me that the disparity of arriving on time or a half hour late is “superfluous,” so if you hire him, be prepared to have a wide window of when he could show up. My kids liked him as a teacher, which is why I kept giving him chances and trying to work out scheduling issues (I offered to move our lessons to a different time, but he insisted the time we were at was fine) but in the end, things could not be resolved.

Just finished my 4th class with Isabelle. She has been very helpful with my French conversation. She meets me at my level and then challenges me. She speaks clearly and at a speed I can understand. The notes after the lesson are excellent and help me to continue my learning. I highly recommend Isabelle!
Brian
"Listener" is how I would describe Isabelle, and it's why she is a great teacher. I brought a lot of random questions into lessons each week and she helped me with all of the answers. She also used the answers to my questions to show me further examples to be able to help me frame why things were the way they were. This is my first French teacher but I couldn't be happier with the time I've gotten from Isabelle. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.

I have been having French lessons with Isabelle for more than 6 months. I definitely have learned a lot! Isabelle is very patient and flexible about different learning methods. I highly recommend her!

Instead of sitting in a class room the lessons were spent at different places in the city and Anna prepared interesting themes for every lesson that let my son both practice speaking a lot as well as hear many interesting stories of NYC. "I've chosen Staphanie as my teacher, because I needed someone who will really quickly help me make my English accent better. I took the fact that she is also a musician as a big advantage as I assumed she'll be able to hear all the false accentuation I make. In fact, if you want to work on your English skills, it's the best combination of skills.
It was really clever decision. Stephanie is able to explain things clearly and fast. Step by step, syllable by syllable, trains student how to speak properly. If you're ready to do your homework and want to see progress fast, Stephanie is perfect person to work with. And she is very kind, too!"

English is, by far, the most studied language in the world. Across the globe, English dominates industries like business, medicine, and education. Those who learn the language gain access to countless opportunities professionally. Personally, learning English gives you the opportunity to make friends in places all around the world — from America to Zimbabwe.

Benefits of Taking ESL Classes in Chicago

If you choose to study English in Chicago, you'll have plenty of company. Of the roughly 7.7 million people living in this city, about 30% speak a language other than English at home. Plus, Chicago's last census taken between 2006 and 2010 counted just over 400,000 Chicago residents who reported that they speak English “less than well.”

When learning English as a second language in Chicago, you’ll join thousands of people who are learning, just like you. The ESL English, Coffee, Conversation and Friendship Meetup group has over 4,000 members! If you're looking for a smaller group to practice with, there’s also the Oak Park English Conversation Cafe Group, or the Chicago Accent Reduction Group to work on your pronunciation.
