The best part of my tutoring is to give a good start for beginners. It will be the easy way. Students will be led step by step to gain knowledge and skills in speaking, reading, writing, and grammar issues as well. An easy start gives an easy way to go.

About Sergey

As I speak two languages English and Russian, I can teach both. Russian is my native language, so students can learn Russian from the native speaker. And that is the best way to learn foreign languages. I've been teaching Russian since 2010 and I use my own method, which is not like in boring books

Hello!

I am a UC Berkeley graduate and TEFL certified. I completed my TEFL in Thailand last year and have been teaching English online full-time for almost one year. I have a combined total of 5 years experience teaching, tutoring, and coaching English speaking and writing. I love to teach and make a difference in the world.

My lessons are fun and easy-going. There are two main strategies I use to teach Enlish:

1) General Conversation. In my "general conversation" lessons, we simply chat for the duration of our time together. During the talk, I will update corrections to the chat box in real time. Then we can discuss or you can review later at your convenience. Totally up to you!

2) Formal Lesson. In "formal lessons," I will instruct a lesson based upon your agreed skill or comfortability level. We can make this decision together. The lesson will either be based upon visual aids that I provide, online materials, or both!

My students have had success with, and enjoyed, both. You

I like to view the classroom as a place for exchanging knowledge with the students in a friendly atmosphere that encourages the students to learn English in a desirable environment away from the imposition of the traditional teaching settings.
My teaching philosophy aims at teaching English through developing critical thinking about the topic by viewing all possible aspects of it. Multiple results of this strategy include increasing knowledge of the world and discovering more about the students’ own personal characteristics, in addition to improving their English and developing creative thinking. One good technique to achieve these objectives is working on building students’ growth mindset. This can be maintained through emphasizing challenges that teach students to search for new knowledge and explore more insights.

About Azza

Hello, My name is Azza. I am happy to be your teacher and work with you in a friendly environment that helps you improve your English and knowledge of the world. I have a PhD in TESL and Linguisitcs from Oklahoma State University and I wrote two books titled Developing Creative Thinking to Improve

Learn English as a Second Language in Chicago

There are 18 countries where a majority of the population is native English speakers. Out of the 7.5 billion people in the world, 20% speak English. But only about 360 million of these are native speakers. If you want to learn English as a second language, you certainly won't be alone!

English is, by far, the most studied language in the world. Across the globe, English dominates industries like business, medicine, and education. Those who learn the language gain access to countless opportunities professionally. Personally, learning English gives you the opportunity to make friends in places all around the world — from America to Zimbabwe.

Benefits of Taking ESL Classes in Chicago

If you choose to study English in Chicago, you'll have plenty of company. Of the roughly 7.7 million people living in this city, about 30% speak a language other than English at home. Plus, Chicago's last census taken between 2006 and 2010 counted just over 400,000 Chicago residents who reported that they speak English “less than well.”

When learning English as a second language in Chicago, you’ll join thousands of people who are learning, just like you. The ESL English, Coffee, Conversation and Friendship Meetup group has over 4,000 members! If you're looking for a smaller group to practice with, there’s also the Oak Park English Conversation Cafe Group, or the Chicago Accent Reduction Group to work on your pronunciation.

Plus, located in the heart of Middle America, Chicago makes a great place to get acquainted with U.S. culture and sports. While you learn English in Chicago, get tickets to see a Cubs baseball game and chow down on a hotdog at Wrigley Field. Or, grab a beer at the Field House sports bar to catch a Bulls basketball game, cheer on the Blackhawks in hockey, and watch the Bears play American football.

The great part about studying with an English tutor in Chicago is all the wonderful locations where you can see the sights and meet for a lesson at the same time. Practice animal vocabulary at the Lincoln Park Zoo, discuss science at the Field Museum, or talk art at the Art Institute of Chicago. You can even schedule an outdoor class at Millennium Park.

Making the Most of English Classes in Chicago

Before you begin learning ESL in Chicago, be sure you have everything you need for your first lesson. Drop by Blick Art Materials to purchase a fresh notebook, new pens, highlighters, flashcards, and sticky notes. Then drop into the Unabridged Bookstore to select some helpful reading materials. Comics and illustrated children's books are an excellent way to practice.

After you've had a few lessons and feel more comfortable getting around in an English-speaking place, venture out and enjoy the culture. Choose activities that exercise your English comprehension. We recommend seeing a show at a comedy club, like The Laugh Factory or The Comedy Bar.

You can also see a play at the Theater on the Lake or visit Navy Pier to enjoy carnival rides, shops, restaurants, and fireworks. However you practice ESL in Chicago, you're sure to master the language faster by immersing yourself in the local culture.
