"I've been teaching Chinese for 15 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of Chinese culture, study abroad in Asia, and more! Within the first few lessons, you'll start speaking simple sentences and as time goes on, you'll be able to conjugate like a pro!
Chinese language learning materials as part of an integrated curriculum designed to motivate students in non-native Chinese environments to start speaking Chinese.

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Rich was happy after the first class and he started to wonder, would Kelvin be available to teach him a guitar lessons as well (we thought it is a great beginning) :)

Also, Kelvin immediately pointed out that the violin we have picked is too small for Rich, where other teacher didn't say anything about it. We changed the size and it helped a lot with holding violin and feeling more comfortable. Thank you !

Learn the basics of speaking and understanding the funny-sounding language known as Cantonese! Many outsiders deem Cantonese as an aggressive and loud language. This is true to an extent, but, there is much fun, beauty, and history to this language as well!

About Austin
Hello! My name is Austin, and my personal life motto is: doing my best to help others realize and reach their best! I have been teaching a number of topics ranging from music, fitness, to technology, writing, and religious texts for over 7 years. Over these years, I have also worked a myriad of jobs to receive invaluable experience as well as learn how to interact with all kinds of people.

It has always been my deep passion and true joy to journey along with someone who is simply willing to learn the many gifts that life has for us to enjoy! I am currently studying for my masters at Western Seminary, interning at a church in Milpitas, and a certified teacher here at TakeLessons.

Time and time again, I have come to realize that life is about serving, teaching, and loving others with what we already have; teaching is such a simple y
et profound way to practice this!

I look forward to doing my best in order to help you realize, reach, and ultimately relish your best!

Best regards,

Grew up in America (born in Taiwan) for over 13 years and native speaker of both English and Mandardin Chinese.

About Bill
I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.

I enjoy tutoring and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!

I tend to have a busy schedule with my work, but Bill is accommodating and punctual. In our lessons, we go over topics I struggle with and he thinks of variations of the problem that may appear on the exam to guarantee I fully mastered the concepts. I rather be overprepared than failing and studying for the GMAT all over again.

Bill is superb at asking leading questions to discover my own weaknesses and mistakes so we can fix them together and get to the correct answer.

Having someone to bounce various approaches to a problem really helped me understand how to solve the exercises as opposed to just memorizing the solutions

I am from Hangzhou, China, and this is my fifth year in the United States. I graduated from the University of Ilinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I earned double degrees in History and East Asian Languages and Civilization. As a native Chinese speaker, what's unique about me as a mandarin teacher is that I am well adapted to all levels of language learners, and my education in EALC, a major that focuses heavily on language teaching makes me well informed about the most effective pedagogical method for teaching Chinese.

About Mindi
I earned my bachelor's degree in History and East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017, and will be getting a master's degree in social sciences from the University of Chicago in August 2018. The subjects I teach on Takelessons including Mandarine Chinese, ESL, History, and Essay Writing.

A native of Hangzhou, China, I am a historian studying modern East Asian History in the United States. Instead of giving students tedious, boring lecture, my teaching style is characterized by lively interaction between the student and me, and I am skillful at asking thought-provoking questions and let the students find the answers by themselves, whilst I play the role of a guide and a friend. I believe this is the best and most efficient way to help students improve.

I have well-prepared class
plans for every subject I teach, but I am also flexible to the student's specific demands. I can also design special assignments or course plan well tailored to the student's needs.

At my lessons, I have creativity and do my best to build an exciting and interesting learning experience. I believe that to learn a foreign language, students must understand the basics of the culture. My lessons include a basic cultural section where I introduce culture and customs to the students. I also share my impressions and experience with students, so they are more interested in the subject, motivated and inspired to learn a Mandarin Chinese.

Most of the students are afraid of learning Chinese because of Chinese characters and the tones, but I will show you that it can be quite easy and fun. Chinese characters are the soul of Chinese language and I would like to lead you into the wonderful world of Chinese characters learning,

I am here to assist you in your own unique Mandarin Chinese language-learning journey. I don't use only one book, so we won't have a page by page language process, we will actually write our own book which will be tailored to your needs, I believe ...
