Struggling with writing? Reading? Getting your ideas and concepts out there for others to enjoy? Try a few lessons and see if your world doesn't open up!

About Marsha
The Recital was fabulous- thanks for all your work.

Goals: Since I am also a Life Coach, we really focus on how to accomplish our hopes and desires. We begin by weekly, then monthly and even a yearly goal.

Each week we also focus on something in my STUDENT PAL - mnemonic. Another is TECHNIQUE. Technique is the ability to have proper position, wrist-lifts and finger curve as well as Theoretic knowledge and application.

I started giving out lickable gold stars, you know, the old-fashioned kind? They are for those students who mark their lesson sheet and come prepared... They really seem to enjoy that, and I adore the nostalgia!

It is a great week when students are nearly all prepared and ready for their lessons. This makes both Coach and student more effective and the time together more enjoyable.

Perhaps you are reading
this with both a little excitement and a little concern. Finding the right person for your or your student can be intimidating. A short introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy which can assist you make an informed decision. If we are a good fit, lessons and learning progress more joyfully.

I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven. I have since taught the students of former students! How fun is that?

Music has blessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Teaching at the Young Artists Conservatory of Music; Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years has been a delight.

I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons, which we revisit monthly. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them/you to accomplish the goals set, working with music that delights and educates.

You want the best teacher, who offers information, example, practice and performance opportunities and then gets out of the way of the student's own "voice" (whether playing or singing) so that they can be free to create their own style.

*** Lesson Details ***
In our lessons, we work with a predictable schedule of balance. We have weekly exercises to make strong fingers and or voices, and technique and theory practice to hone skills that will improve our performances, whether they are for others or for our own benefit. Each student of piano can learn how to create and write their own music in time, choose their own pieces to work on, and have a say in their classical and performance goals.

We have a program of advancement, so you and your loved ones can visually see your progress and measure your skills, complete with awards and trophies.

What you learn, has everything to do with your commitment. Practice doesn't make perfect, Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect.

Learning the piano ought to be a JOY. I believe in playing the piano, not 'practicing' it. Enjoy what you do, and you'll do it longer and with celebration instead of duty.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano - upright; CD player; Music stands; Dozens of music books and lesson materials; flash cards; computer and music writing program; mic and mirror, syllabus.

*** Travel Equipment ***
No travel.

*** Specialties ***
Over the years I have dabbled in most methods, but finally come to use my own syllabus and musicianship. I can easily adapt to your favourite if that is your desire. I specialize in a total music education, not merely in learning notes. It is like looking in a mirror and only seeing eyes and skin. Music has many facets and we discover all of them.

As a U.S citizen and immigrant assistance provider, I aim to ensure that my clients and students have a great understanding of the English language. I make sure that a complete understanding is accomplished. Everyone learns differently, so I consistently create lesson plans tailored to each student to make sure that he or she personally satisfied based on their expectations.

About Takosha
I Attained a Master's degree due to a sincere love to teach hungry students. Within my professional history, I have been elected to become a certified trainer to teach representatives the importance of leading students to a higher education within the collegiate environment. It is my duty as a teacher, trainer and instructor, to empower students to believe and always be true to their voice and academic education.

In addition to voice teaching, I am an online college instructor covering general courses and business courses. I also provide continuing education courses for businesses and organizations. In addition, I am a home school teacher for my own children. Therefore, I am experienced in working with adult students and youth. Please see the list of subjects that I tutor and feel free to request a subject that may not be listed.

Voice and singing has been a part of my life since birth. I sing and lead others within the church and fellowship environments. While in the military, I formed a choir in Iraq during the Iraqi Freedom War and received the Director’s award. The choir was full of soldiers and airmen, and we were all given a sense of peace in the middle of war through the singing of blended angelic voices. I have performed in the U.S states and other countries for Generals, Colonels and the like. Locally, I support the military through events in singing the National Anthem for SCAD, Savannah State, and Armstrong Atlantic University. I also lead within the music ministry of Harvest Light Church.

I taught at Charisma Studios and worked side by side with students within the Broadway Dreams Foundation and many gifted people in Atlanta, Georgia. I have taught students within a Georgia State Youth Challenge program to challenge not only their voices but their character to move forward in life. I'm currently singing in Savannah and South Georgia areas. The voice inside of me grows daily and I live to share with others what I experience everyday of my life.

*** Lesson Details ***
When a student chooses to work with me, he or she will gain much strength through my teaching style. I enjoy listening to the student to pinpoint their individual need. I am very attentive to detail to ensure the student will receive everything that he or she has come to receive. I will do all that I can to the best of my ability, and with everything that I currently know and have learned. I learn from students everyday, therefore I am not the only teacher in the lesson.

When students reach the 3 month mark in voice, they will be able to hear themselves and correct their mistakes on their own. They will know if they are an alto, tenor or soprano or maybe all 3! These are the first steps to becoming a teacher themselves one day. At the 6 month point, students will have the confidence to be able to blend with other voices. If students pay attention and continue to practice they will be on their way to take steps to begin the solo and leading stages.

Within the aspect of academic tutoring, the students will learn new methods and techniques suitable for them in order to gain more confidence in the subject that is challenging them. Everyone learns differently, it is my passion to find out how the student learns and to apply the best practices and techniques to their learning experience to ensure their success in that subject.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Office/music studio setup with keyboard and computer.

*** Travel Equipment ***

Subject Books and tools

*** Specialties ***
I teach students to sing from their diaphragm which helps them to breathe better while singing. It brings a smoother sound and it does not strain the voice. I also teach pitches and volume concerning specific songs being taught. The voice warm-ups and songs that are incorporated into the lesson, help to train the ear. It is important that a voice student learns how to hear the sound of music, so he or she can sing with any instrument including another voice:-)

Academically, I learn the student, so the student can learn.

I will structure English lessons to your needs! Whatever issues you may have--grammar, pronunciation, basic vocabulary, or other--I will make that my focus. We will work together through games and small assignments, ranging in difficulty based on language level and attention span. I speak some German and French, but we will speak exclusively in English so you can get the practice you need!

About Christine
I'm an operatic soprano and and have an MM in Vocal Performance at the University of Minnesota, with a BM in Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. In addition to experience teaching vocal technique, I have experience with English, French, Italian and German diction, and many musical styles. Pop, musical theater, you name it! It's all good. :)

I recently became TEFL-certified and have begun tutoring English as a second language as well. I try to make my lessons as fun as possible, and will organize the lessons according to your wants, needs, experience, and age!

Singing lessons typically start with a short physical and vocal warm-up, and then we move on to repertoire (selected by either myself or the student). As with English lessons, singing lessons are very student-focused--I will do my best
to structure the lessons to work toward the goals we make together!

I am compelled to write a raving review about Haley Shea. I am 55 years old and started working with her one-year ago to nail down punctuation and grammar in order to write a blog about nutrition and resistance exercise. Haley is patient and has a pleasant demeanor that strongly motivated me to want to learn the material. Currently, I look forward to each and every lesson.

Around December of last year, I discovered that my heart was not into blog writing. I sent Haley an email and explained my feelings and that I was actually passionate about screenwriting. She wrote back and I discovered this was right (or write) up her alley. Truth be told, as a nine year-old I used to write and direct 8 mm movies with my neighborhood friends as actors and dreamed one day of becoming a writer, producer and director. But like all other dreams this one was derailed.

Haley had me write a couple scene samples. She sent them back to me and was quite pleased with my neophyte attempt. I told her about a sci-fi television project that I wast interested in and after many months of her encouragement and my persistence I finished the first draft.

After some revisions, I watched her perform a table read by Skype utilizing the skills of her improvisation students. I loved watching their reaction as they each read their part. It is very gratifying watching some one become the character you created. It was intended to be funny and campy. There were times the actors seemed to have trouble containing their laughter. Overall their reaction was positive.

At this juncture, Haley is helping me with query letters and obtaining input from other professionals in her inner circle. She is also seeking input from other writers.

The most important thing is I enjoy screenwriting no matter what happens. Haley has helped me love what I'm doing and it is not chore but sweet ride.

I'm greatful for her guidance,
Paul Skinner

English, a most wonderfully peculiar language, has a distinct ability, despite its rich potential for clarity of expression, to confuse those seeking to learn it, and to blatantly bewilder those daring to understand it.

The same analytical chops that mathematics demand and build can be used in linguistic study, as one discovers rules and patterns to make sense of the complexity.

If you need help on an essay, to diagram simple sentences, or learning where that comma or apostrophe needs to be, a dictionary is good, the internet is better, but a teacher with a ready sense of humor is the best.

One session or several, I'm open and able to help! I also speak Spanish and very limited Japanese, so I welcome ELL students!

About Jon
I have taught professionally for 18 years, nine as a tutor. What began as undergraduate work-study bloomed into part time private tutoring independently, with great success. From elementary arithmetic to trigonometry, I've helped many an overwhelmed student raise their GPA!

I hold a BA with honors from CSUSB, with an English concentration. I was personally requested by my linguistics teacher for peer tutoring. My one-on-one experience has been predominantly in math and English, though I am open to other subjects because...

My teaching has taken me from museum galleries to working farms, and mountain trails to public schools. Whether I hold feldspar by a stream, a paint brush in a school room, or a salamander in an animal gallery, I see people learning best when they smile as they go. I make it a point to see that both occur. My sess
ions are always a safe, supportive environment in which mistakes are an essential, acceptable part of learning.

I learn because I love to, I teach because I'm good at it, and I tutor because it creates the greatest opportunity for success. The true payoff for me is helping my students realize they can achieve what they didn't think they could. I love that!

Jon tutored my daughter for several years, in our home, in Arithmetic, Algebra I and II, and Geometry. He definitely shares responsibility for her graduation from Beaumont High School with a class rank of 7th out of about 575 fellow students. Jon is very flexible in his teaching, and excels at figuring out what aspect of math is causing confusion for the student. He is very patient, and is able to rephrase and express concepts in different ways to get the point across. Fantastic tutor!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Education & Credentials ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I graduated with a degree from UCLA with high honors (Dean's Honors List, Magna Cum Laude) in Integrative Biology & Physiology. I also took many classes at UCLA in education, linguistics, history, and English. I had a cumulative GPA of 3.838 with 265.5 completed units at graduation and was a 10-time Dean's Honors List Recipient. I have scored at the 98th percentile on the SAT I/II tests and received the highest score of 5 on multiple AP exams (see below for more details) as a high school student, achieving the AP Scholar with Distinction award by the end of my junior year. I have been the recipient of over $350,000 worth of many university merit-based invitational and scholarship honors and awards. Some of the most notable scholarships I have been awarded are the Regents Scholarship from both UCLA and UCSB. Both provided me with a large monetary award (full-ride), priority enrollment, 4 years of room and board, and many other privileges, honors, and incentives.
The SAT examinations that I have scored at 98th percentile or higher are as follows: SAT I; SAT II - Math 2; and SAT II - Biology (M). I also took many AP exams during high school, achieving the AP Scholar with Distinction award by the end of my junior year. Some of the exams that I have taken include: AP Physics B (Score = 5); AP Chemistry (Score = 5); AP Biology (Score = 5); AP Calculus AB (Score = 5); AP Statistics (Score = 5); AP US Government & Politics (Score = 5). I continuously study and retake the SAT, ACT, and AP Exams to stay on par with both the big and small changes each year to the exams.
~~~~~~~~~~~ My Personal Message to You ~~~~~~~~~~~

One of the wisest teachers once said that poor grades, study habits, and test scores are not life-threatening, but they are college-, job- , career-, and quality-of-life threatening. The most competitive students take a pro-active approaching to academics and tutoring while the least competitive take a reactive approach. All you need to do is watching the documentary 'Two Million Minutes' by Bob Compton to realize why students in other countries such as India and China surpass American peers in almost every subject, especially language (writing, grammar, etc.), math, science, and engineering-related subjects. They attend extra classes and tutoring from 6-7 AM in the morning to almost midnight.

In today's fast-paced and competitive job market, there is simply too much to lose by not investing now in your child's or your education. If a student is struggling, it makes sense to get him/her the help needed so that the time spent in school is worthwhile. Great grades and test scores can open doors that may have been previously closed and are also significant factors when determining scholarships, so investing time and effort now can pay off substantially in the future. Finally, let's not forget the most important part in all of this: the student. The confidence, knowledge, and skills that a student gains through effective tutoring can last a lifetime.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch. Every day spent waiting is another class or lecture's worth of material that you might potentially fall behind or another low quiz/test/exam score that will only make it harder to recover from. I have had too many students who could have received the grade(s) they wanted had they contacted me from the beginning.
