A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.
Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.

I am a recently retired university professor with 37 years' teaching and research experience in organic and bio-organic chemistry at two major U. S. State universities. During the past 18 years I have served as an MCAT content contributor by providing "units" (passages + questions based on passage content) to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the agency that produces and administers MCAT. I currently tutor students worldwide by using interactive Skype and Google Hangouts with screen sharing. The screen sharing feature permits chemical structures, formulas and reaction mechanisms to be drawn onscreen in real time during tutorial sessions. All visual materials produced in this manner are saved as jpg files and sent to students as email attachments at the conclusion of each tutorial session. In addition to one-on-one tutoring, Students are provided with study and review materials, practice problems and sample exam questions that I know from experience are likely to ...

He is extremely knowledgeable in general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochem. He also knows how the MCAT exam is designed and written. He is a great source of information.
Furthermore, he prioritizes making sure his students understand why certain answers are wrong or right. He is very detail oriented and really wants his students to understand the material.
Dr. Alan tutored me online, and shared his screen with me while working out chemical reactions and problems. He then saved all of that work and emailed it to me, so I could refer to it later.
Dr. Alan definitely tries to provide his students with the resources to succeed. He sends his students extra practice as well as power points and tutorials on information that he knows is tested on the MCAT.
I am very glad I contacted Dr. Alan, because he is a very dedicated caring teacher, and he really wants his students to do well. I would recommend him to anyone who needs some guidance on the MCAT!

I stress understanding (geometrically/analytically) rather than memorizing formulas. This ensures my students can derive formulas/solutions even without memorization.
I know firsthand how difficult it is to learn test taking skills whether you are a total newbie, or a budding intermediate, but I have overcame these challenges myself and will guide you to overcome them too. I also have close to 8 years of tutoring experience, which will surely come in handy!
About Bill
I enjoy tutoring (doing it ever since I was in high school for my classmates) and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!

I studied math and literature at MIT and Harvard, have a decade of experience teaching standardized tests, and got a perfect score on the GRE (170 quant, 170 verbal).
About Matt
I studied math, literature, and philosophy at MIT and Harvard, and I have a decade of professional teaching, tutoring, and mentoring experience in the Boston metro area -- and around the world by Skype. I've always been interested in both the sciences and the humanities, and I love sharing my passion for ideas. On the science side, I've worked in labs at NASA, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the McGovern Insitute for Brain Research, and MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. And on the humanities side, I was an editor at a political and literary magazine for four years; I've also edited three books published by MIT
My philosophy is simple: I teach the way I would want to be taught. No matter the subject, my goal is to help students achieve deep mastery and long-lasting understanding, not just better grades and test scores. I emphasize critical and creative thinking, never rote memorization or mechanical rule-following. I focus on big-picture ideas and precise reasoning -- not just the what or the how but the why.
My profile here at TakeLessons is new, but I have more than 60 student testimonials. I'm happy to put prospective clients in touch with former students.

Matt is a rare gem in the tutoring world. He has an amazing style of teaching. He really goes in depth. My 11th grader son has a lot of respect for him. According to my son, "Matt is a genius". His logic and teaching style makes him stand out. Matt is not only great in mathematics, he is absolutely fantastic in english, reading, and writing. He loves to breakdown complex problems for his students to understand and also expects his students to ask him questions. Matt has helped my son in calculus, reading, and writing and my son has benefitted and enjoyed the lessons to the fullest. One thing that impressed me the most was that he does not need the answer keys to verify correct answers. He trusts his own reasoning in his explanations. But, there is one problem: once you hire him as a tutor, its hard to find another of equal caliber. Thanks to Matt, our son got into Cornell.

a pre-calculus course in my sophomore year and take AP Calculus BC instead, my mother thought of finding
some help for me. After struggling for months to find a good tutor, she found Matt online, and his
biography looked impressive. In our first meet, Matt’s questions were very engaging and thought-provoking
and I realized, “This guy is a genius.”
Matt has helped me with math, reading, writing, and my college applications. He has also mentioned,
“Although I am not a physicist, I can read and explain AP Physics C if needed.” Matt is a master in logic and
his confidence is unmistakable. Matt’s lessons were always profound and enjoyable, which made me
confident with high school subjects like probability and statistics, calculus; as well as college-level courses
such as multivariate calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. Thanks to his help, I was both
accepted to Cornell University's College of Engineering and wait-listed to Harvard University!
Matt has been helping me in all aspects of academic decisions and progresses. Matt isn’t just a tutor: he is a
mentor, counselor, and guide. My mother says that Matt is smart and a great teacher in developing talent in
students.

I scored a perfect score (170) on the math section and very high (163) on the verbal. More importantly, I have been tutoring for over 15 years at all levels of math, science, and many standardized tests. I LOVE to see a student go from "This is too hard" to "This isn't so bad!" I am very skilled at helping others to learn the topics presented, improve their test-taking strategies, and improve their score. You must "think like the test writers" and be prepared for every twist and turn they will throw your way.
About Robin
I am a chemistry and math nerd who has also taken a few engineering classes. I have a B.S. in chemistry with a minor in mathematics and an M.S. in chemistry, both from Baylor University. I also taught chemistry for five years at Boise State University. All my standardized test scores are from my first time taking the test with very little preparation. I actually enjoy taking tests (weird I know).
