I enjoy writing, and have an excellent understanding of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, vocabulary, and writing style.
I also understand and am sympathetic to the various difficulties that students may experience with writing. I am patient, always willing to listen and answer questions, and always eager to help each student express him/herself well in writing.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***

Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

I've had 3 classes with Kelly and they've been great. Her method is fun, engaging and I look forward to continuing. I've tried several self-study options without success, whereas Kelly's teaching methods keep me engaged. She uses techniques I didn't know existed and I'm not just memorizing pages of words. As an adult learner, I have finally found a great option to learn Spanish.

Is your child is struggling to grasp key concepts in his or her language arts class? Are you a student working on a large-scale term paper, or preparing for the SAT or AP exams? Or a high schooler looking to build the best college acceptance essay possible? Whatever your or your child's age or grade level, I will provide the instruction needed to accomplish your or your child's academic goals. I make writing fun and productive by setting challenging yet realistic goals and providing engaging lesson plans that will drive the student to be attentive and engaged. I want to share my love of writing with my students. The written word is still considered to be highly valued in the Unites States and it is essential in everyday life. Obviously what I teach to an elementary child would differ than a college student but reaching a high level of writing ability would be foremost.

About Cathryn
Hello! My name is Cathy and I have been teaching voice (singing) for over 30 years. But don't let that fool you into thinking I'm a stogy old girl who doesn't have a pulse on contemporary music. I teach pop, country, broadway, folk, whatever it is your interested in. I do teach with vocal exercises because without them no changes will be made and that's the whole point right to change your voice? However you do get to sing songs. I teach, so that you will change your voice and succeed in whatever avenue you want. My degree is in Vocal Performance from Northeastern Illinois University and one year of Masters work in Drama from DePaul University.

I also teach ESL, Reading, Writing, History which I have done for the past ten years. I use a variety of techniques since no two people are alike to help you learn English or the Ameri
can lifestyle. I presently teach Caterpillar employees, spouses and children. Let me teach you and see how far we can go.

Thank you.

Adam Gaines is a godsend. I was really lucky to have his guidance over the years which helped my craft and dedication to the art of writing greatly. He is a proven writer with legitimate credits but also, he actually cares. He is always ready to help and takes your material seriously which is most important when you want honest feedback and guidance. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of films, screenwriting, and the industry that is both impressive and beneficial. He is a wonderful friend and mentor who will always have a great recommendation or suggestion ready for your work and/or career. Adam is an extremely open individual with an immense passion for film and the craft of screenwriting which becomes infectious. That trait is crucial since it keeps you driven to keep learning and grow. He is also an excellent conversationalist with his own voice which is truly refreshing. Highly recommend.

I have a vast amount of experience in writing, given my high school, college, and graduate career. My experience ranges from essays (including the standard 5-paragraph one), to research papers with proper citations, to technical reports, to a dissertation (for my PhD).

About Ulyana
My name is Ulyana and I'm passionate about teaching and tutoring! I graduated with a B.S. from Rice University (Houston, TX), specializing in earth sciences (geology and chemistry). I did my Masters in planetary geology at Brown University (Providence, RI), and for my PhD, I trekked over 1500 miles in Nepal, studying glacial lake flooding hazards to Sherpa villages, as well as impacts of pollution on pristine high mountains, including Mt. Everest.

For seven years now, I have either tutored or taught, in classrooms and in the field, all age groups, sharing the joy of science, math - and learning in general! When I was in my teens, I participated in many science fairs and symposia at the national and international level. Then I went to college and grad school in science. Pretty much, science has been my life! For any of your science need
s, with a special focus on astronomy and geology (earth sciences), I'm here to help. I can assist with physics, biology, chemistry and math (algebra, pre-calc, calculus). Given my experience in public speaking, the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and writing, I can assist with that as well!

If you're interested in creative lessons - with a true focus on your learning experience, I'm your tutor! Often times when working out in the field in extreme locations (e.g., Antarctica and Mt. Everest), I have to MacGyver solutions on the fly. I want to teach you how to think. This skill will serve you well, long into the future.

After 5 years teaching reading, math, and writing skills to struggling students, I have developed a large tool box of strategies to help students bridge any gaps in their education. I look forward to learning how each student learns and then adding upon their skills.

About Victoria
Hey, I have been playing the violin for 24 years and have loved teaching students along the way. I started teaching in high school, and have had several students since. Currently I am teaching a 4 year old and an 8 year old.

I am a licensed Special Education Teacher and have worked with students with various disabilities for the past 7 years. I am trained in applied behavior analysis and have used it in private and group settings.

Teaching music is a fantastic merge of my two passions in life. I perform regularly in my church congregation, and can also play the piano and trombone. I am currently learning how to play the organ. I have participated in several large orchestras and have taken private professional lessons for 20 of my 24 years of playing.

I have a very flexible and casual style of teaching. I get to know the student
and their (if applicable) parents, and then tailor lessons to fit their needs. That means I am willing to teach in my home, at your home, or online. I am also willing to use toys and games for very young students who are wiggly.

Perfect practice makes perfect playing. I believe in starting with form and care of the instrument, and then moving into theory right away. Unless their is a recital or perform coming up, I prefer to spend up to 20-40% of a lesson on music theory. This will ultimately lead to a more well rounded musician and allow for greater creativity as a mature musician.

As a writer myself, and as someone who has been tutoring students in writing for over four years, I know how to help students move from start to finish on any writing project. In addition, I have worked with some many students, as well as students with learning disabilities, that I can help students find their own voice, their own way of outlining, conceptualizing, reviewing and polishing. My approach is always student-first, it's about learning how to write and why, not just getting a paper done. I want students to learn to write well for life.

About Levi
I was born and raised in Colorado, but I've traveled all over the world. I am a published author, an avid biker, a snowboarder, a yogi and an educator. I've worked with students from 0-29, so I've seen a whole range of humans and i always try to meet every person on an individual basis. In addition, I've tutored a lot of students with learning differences, including many students on the autism spectrum, so I know that there are so many ways to learn and so many ways that brains can function. Everyone is unique and has their own approach to life and learning. I'm a big education advocate, but I also think life is too short to miss out on fun and experience. So, when I'm tutoring I like to keep it light. We'll get a lot done, but I think learning is a lot more fun (and effective) when you're not feeling stressed.
