I began to teach guitar at 16 years of age. I have taught seven- to 60-year-old students in a wide variety of styles. I studied jazz guitar primarily with Randy Vincent, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's greatest guitar players, and continue to broaden my horizons under the guidance of Matthew Grasso. Aside from teaching, I compose, perform, and research in Music and Language Arts.
Lars is an awesome instructor. Very knowledgeable and also very articulate with his instructions. I highly recommend him. I am an absolute beginner and yet he was able to share so much in the very first lesson itself! He also makes learning fun.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.
*** Lesson Details *** Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment *** None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties *** Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.
*** CD's*** Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501 Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014 Epiphanies1, The Halford Company

Auditions!! They are definitely the most difficult and nerve wracking part of being an actor or singer, right? Booking work means your audition has to be as good as opening night. Auditioning is about preparation and preparation takes consistent support. Look, showbiz is not a business about being alone. Artists thrive when working together. We are a collaborative bunch and collaborating to make sure you're ready and organized for your auditions makes sense. Stop trying to muscle through this necessary step alone. No one who works consistently does that! They ask for help. ASK FOR HELP!! Solidify your acting choices so you don't have to worry about them the day before your audition. Know your prep so you can internally drop into it when the casting director says, "Whenever you're ready." Have your music material and performance choices prepared ahead of time. BE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. Work with me when your agent sends you your sides so you show up READY. Know your lines. It's OK if your struggling with memorization. Let's figure out How YOU memorize. Let me coach you for online audition submissions. If we are working virtually I will coach while you are taping yourself to submit your online audition. It works! Let me collaborate with on script analysis in order for you to you understand your material before you audition. Take your work seriously so you bring your most intelligent and inspiring work to the audition rooms. You'll be bringing the agents, casting directors, directors, producers and writers the inspiration they crave regarding their beloved projects. Do that and you're gonna book. I know you can work and I can't wait to make it happen with you. About Kathryn Kathryn is a member of the Sag-Aftra and Actors Equity and BMI and is a Critics Circle Award Winner. Gil Gross, Host The Gil Gross Show Radio, ABC "I have loved Kathryn's music from the day I first heard her sing, but even being a fan of her recordings did not prepare me for seeing her perform live. She inhabits a song and involves each member of the audience in its drama, joy or sorrow. There are performers for whom a performance is a night out. When Kathryn performs its a lifetime shared with us in a single evening. If you want to merely hear some tunes, there are many people who will do. AMAZING! Kathryn is a star and an excellent mentor!
I started playing piano when I was 3, and began writing music at the age of 6. I've taught music and piano for over 12 years, and tutoring other subjects for over 5 years.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I graduated from Cornell University in Electrical & Computer Engineering, with a minor in Music.
As a student, I was President of the Cornell Piano Society for 4 years. I spent much time teaching piano and music theory to fellow Cornell students, faculty, and staff. I've also organized many concerts, recitals, and events during my tenure.
After college, I went on to work for Intel & Apple as an engineer, while continuing to teach and tutor on the side. Later on, I founded my own startup company centered around Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and unmet needs in the B2C market.
I typically travel
to each student's home for lessons. I travel all around the Bay Area: as far north as Richmond, as far south as Los Gatos, as far East as Livermore (and every place in between, including the Peninsula).
Leona K. is available for in-home, in-studio, and online lessons worldwide! Leona has been tutoring students of all ages in academic subjects, test preparation, and violin instruction for over 14 years, since 2001. One of Leona's elementary school students who started lessons with poor grades was nominated Student of the District within three months of lessons with Leona. Leona teaches students of all ages and experience levels. Leona is a practicing attorney and is also currently pursuing her MBA. She attended NYU for her Bachelor's Degree, Washington and Lee for her JD, and is now an MBA student at NYU Stern. She has received As and superior scores in all of the academic courses and exams for which she tutors, and has won awards and soloed with orchestras on the violin. Her skills, personal experience, and schooling will bring all
students to the next level in their studies. Leona is a very patient instructor and works with students at their own pace to achieve great results!
Leona has been my life coach for several sessions now and I could not more highly recommend her. Depending on what information she is given beforehand, she will research the situation of the particular student (what career field they are considering for example) and bring what she has learned to the session. She then will listen intently to the student to find out what they want and what is most important to them. After that she will make excellent recommendations designed to maximize the chance that the student will succeed. After having several sessions with her, I can confidently say that every piece of advice she gives leads to a positive outcome if followed. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly recommend her.

Hello! My name is David and helping students succeed in school is my passion.
My tutoring career began in 2011 when I volunteered for Reading Partners, a non-profit organization that assists elementary school students who are struggling with reading comprehension skills. I later applied as a writing tutor for CSU East Bay's Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA) and helped college students from many social and ethnic backgrounds polish their essay writing skills. After graduating with a bachelor's in English in 2012, I became an independent contractor with Buddy System Tutoring and helped high school students in the Bay Area improve their writing and study skills.
I earned my teaching credential in 2015 and have four years of experience teaching English to middle and high school students. I have had the pleasure of working w
ith students of different backgrounds and ages throughout my teaching career; my youngest student was a third grader from Oakland, and my oldest was a 65-year-old college student from Taiwan. I would be thrilled to use my extensive experience to help you or your child improve their reading and writing skills.
I have collaborated with David before on creative writing projects and he is a wonderful person to work with. I have also had experience teaching at the same school where he taught high school English, and in my experience, David would make a thoughtful and personable instructor. He has a relatable sense of humor and clear way of explaining concepts. I would recommend him as a tutor or writing coach for any middle or high school student.
