For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make the learning interesting and fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as a learning opportunities.

I have a Master's Degree (2012) in teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as degree in violin performance from Poland.
I studied piano in Poland for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program.

I
teach music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am a fan of the Essential Elements 2000 for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards.
For teaching music theory I mostly used Master Theory.

I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions.
I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs.
I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary.
All my lessons include: technique: I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both.
music theory: I use Master Theory or other books such as Hal Leonard's Piano Note spellers & Piano Music Theory books for younger ages, music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.

Besides Essential Elements 2000 for strings I also use String Tunes and Fiddle Runners to add more fun to the lessons. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.

I always bring violin with me to be able to show what I teach.

*** Travel Equipment ***
The students needs to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place to be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.

I have been singing and studying voice for over 23 years since I was a child! I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!

I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

I specialize in Musical Theatre, and Pop rock genres. When I teach my students I always have them learn a song of another language whether it's Spanish or Japanese. It helps with diction when they learn a song outside the English Language. Also It helps them to learn another Language at the same time. Also I give them a little anatomy class when they are learning how to sing. I give them a model of the vocal Chords and different areas of the Larynx and which part works for the chest voice and the head voice.

*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson in my studio would begin with a brief question/answer time with the student to learn how their week has gone, and how their music practice is progressing.

For PIANO LESSONS we begin with Technique including scales and dexterity exercises, then we play from the Lesson book and a Recital selection. I typically let the student play through the pieces they have prepared without interruption, then I call attention to corrections that need to be made, I demonstrate the correction, and then ask the student to play the piece again. After that we go over the Theory assignments, and do Ear Training exercises. I am comfortable teaching from a variety of different methods courses. The methods course is chosen according to the student's interest. I never require a piano student to continue using books that are not inspiring. There so many methods courses available, that a student may always be able to have methods books they LOVE.

In my SINGING LESSONS we also begin with a recap of the student's week. Then we continue with Warm Up exercises to prepare the student's voice for the lesson. Then we study Sight Singing and Solfege Singing (do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti-do) to increase the student's listening skills. After that the student sings their selections. Like I do in Piano lessons, I listen to the pieces they have prepared without interruption, then I call attention to corrections that need to be made, I demonstrate the correction, and then ask the student to sing the piece again. I am comfortable teaching many styles of vocal music including classical, Broadway, pop, rock, and Christian.

For MUSIC THEORY lessons, the study material is chosen according to the student's interest and age. Topics include notation, chord structure, chord progression, melodic structure, and harmony. I also incorporate Music Listening in the Music Theory lesson in order to learn from the masters in many styles of music. My Music Theory students will also have the opportunity to develop composition and songwriting skills if they desire.

My teaching style is structured and friendly, keeping the student's goals and interests at the forefront. I enjoy motivating students to reach their highest potential.
After 3 to 6 months in my studio my students will see improvement in their musical technique, ear training, music reading, notation, and knowledge. They will be preparing recital pieces for an upcoming performance. I provide two recital opportunities a year: in December, and in May. Most importantly, the student's love and appreciation of music will be growing.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, at the age of 9, Natalie knew music was something that was just a part of who she was. Writing songs on the piano before lessons could be scheduled, Natalie found herself immersed in a medium that would bring her joy for the rest of her life.

By age 14 Natalie had won several trophies competing in Classical piano with the Illinois Music Association.

As an adult, she would go on to fill her life with the world of music as a singer, songwriter, performer and recording artist.

Graduating from Elmhurst College (1997) with a Bachelor's in Music, Natalie received high accolades earning a membership in the Lambda Sigma Psi Music Honor Society.

My teacher and I spoke by phone for my first lesson, but her phone had poor reception so I was not able to get the benefit of a full lesson. The second and third lessons were unsuccessful as well I need an alternative so that I can work with another teacher locally. I am not familiar enough with this on line process to be successful with my lessons. I have paid for lessons that i have not received. Please advise.

Yeah, I'm a physical science guy, but I can help you with bio if you really need it, along with any other science you might have prior to graduating high school. Who I am: I am a veteran physics, chemistry, engineering, and tech-ed teacher at the Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy. My Pennsylvania teaching certifications are in chemistry, physics, and technology education. I have been at the school since it opened its doors in 2009. Prior to teaching, I worked as a chemical engineer and a stock trader. I've performed on Broadway (yes THAT one in NYC), and I used to play the bassoon. I love to ski and play with my two children.

Why I am here: I mentioned that I was a chemical engineer by education... but now I'm a teacher?!?? Why would I forsake a much more profitable career for one in education? Because I love teaching :) In the years that I di
dn't teach, I always found some hobby that involved teaching people to do stuff, whether it was being a ski instructor at Seven Springs, teaching tennis lessons, tutoring family friends, or teaching a session on stock markets and trading at CMU. I'm a teacher now, which means that I have most of my summer off. That's where you come in.

Why you should hire me: A book can teach you a lot of stuff, and if you are one of those few individuals who absorbs everything they see or read and become instant masters (think Neo learning Jiu Jitsu in the Matrix), then you don't need me, and really, you don't need anyone here. But if you're like most people, then some of the concepts might be a bit tricky and often a few helpful analogies and rephrasing of material is necessary. That's where I excel. If you struggle with concepts, I work to find ways to get the information into your mind in a way that might be more meaningful to you.

For example, I was teaching students about Newton's Third Law (action and reaction). I asked them if they had ever been driving down a highway and hit a bug. They answered yes, and then I asked them why the bug splattered instead of the windshield. Categorically, they gave me the incorrect answer of "well, the bug hit the windshield with more force, didn't it?" I didn't answer them, but instead I showed them a video clip of a drag race between a Lamborghini Aventador and a Bugatti Veyron. Both cars went 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Pretty impressive. I turned off the video and asked them the question about the bug again, and they seemed confused, so I nudged them a bit more. "How long did it take that Veyron to go from 0-60?" A student shouted out, "about 2.6 seconds!" Then I asked him, "and how long did it take that hovering insect to get from 0 to 60, which is how fast your car was going when you hit him?" Suddenly, light bulbs started to flicker... "that was instant, like milliseconds!" I smiled as others started weighing in. "Yeah, that bug went 0-60 in under a second, so its ACCELERATION was greater!" So I finally answered, "correct, the force of the bug hitting the windshield is EXACTLY the same (but in the other direction) as the force of the windshield hitting the bug. Using Newton's Second Law equation, F=ma, if the forces are equal, but the mass of the car is MUCH MUCH bigger than the mass of the bug, it's easy to see what happens...[huge differences in acceleration]. PS... you might think that my online rates don't reflect the standard discount that many other tutors here give their students. That is true. While I don't shun technology, I also understand its limitations. Both of my specialties (chemistry and physics) involve a lot of equations and drawings... these are easily conveyed in short time when face to face. But when having to draw on a camera and/or type equations with lots of subscripts and superscripts, a lot of time is wasted. I don't discourage online help outright, but I don't recommend it as an initial session. That is why my prices display only a modest discount.

Hank has easily been one of the best reasons why I was able to comprehend chemistry throughout the year. In a class where the teacher focuses on the student body rather than individual students. Hank taught me more than probably any of the students have learned throughout the year.

Mr. Lancet is my conceptual and AP Physics C teacher in high school at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes difficult concepts simple and relatable to everyday life so that his students can understand and practice high level concepts with ease. His unique teaching style makes every class fun, happy, and energetic. His positive attitude radiates into his students making the learning environment much better than the average class. Mr. Lancet does more than just get his students to pass a national exam, he manages to show them how to think creatively and analytically to give them skills they can use for the rest of their lives no matter what field they chose to enter. What he teaches does not just stick in his students' minds for the duration of his class but rather stays with them. He posses the rare skill to make his students interested in learning, allowing them to retain more of the information presented to them. Unlike traditional teachers, Mr. Lancet creates unique and fun experiments that test what knowledge his students have gathered in his courses and provide them with first hand accounts of the conceptual and theoretical topics covered in his classes. After I graduate from high school, if I am ever confused about any topic, related to the physical sciences or otherwise, Mr. Hank Lancet would be my first call. In no circumstance would I ever hesitate to hire Mr. Lancet should I require the aid.

I had Mr. Hank as an engineering teacher at my high school. What you will quickly see is that he has a wealth of knowledge just waiting to be shared with others. He is able to teach nearly every aspect of engineering, whether that be technical instruction or explaining what goes into being a good engineering student.

It seems that his teaching style is leading students to their own conclusions by giving them hints and guidance along the way including physical examples and practice work. Mr. Hank also is an incredibly patient teacher/tutor. He will use as many approaches as necessary to make sure that you will understand a topic.

I would not hesitate to hire Mr. Hank as a tutor. If you need help in science or engineering, I guarantee that you will have a very rewarding experience with Hank.
