I have been teaching speaking voice for over two years. I help my students find their projective voice for voiceover and theatrical work.
About Milton
My name is Milton Carl Jackson II and I teach vocal, guitar, piano, and musical theatre lessons in the Inland Empire area.
I help those young, middle-aged, and not-as-young tap into their own soul through music so that they may help others find theirs as well. I believe that in order to entertain others with your voice or your instrument, one must first be able to entertain oneself - all the while having fun doing it! As a recent graduate of the University of California, Davis with a double major in Music History & Ethnomusicology and African-American & African Studies; a former co-host of the popular hip-hop radio show ATF Radio: All Things Fresh on KDVS 90.3 FM; a former Music Director of The Afterglow of UC Davis; and a recent graduate of American University with a Master's of Education in Business Education
If you're looking for a teacher who will motivate and inspire you not only to learn your instrument of choice, but also how to perform it (whether on the big stage or in your living room for the family) and record it as well, I'm the perfect teacher for you. Learning to sing, play, and act beautifully doesn't have to be difficult -- we'll work on finding your voice or your style, all while having fun along the way!
I teach in-studio, in-home, and online lessons, so we can be flexible with the lesson type and schedule!
This is a perfect chance for you or your child who can't stop singing around the house or has dreams of shredding on the guitar or twinkling on the ivories to learn the fundamentals of music, start something new that keeps them or you focused, and have fun while doing it!
Feel free to contact me at show contact info for any questions and check out my student reviews and qualifications.
I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you or your child on your musical journey!!

I am very pleased with my teacher. He has helped me very much. I am very blessed to have found him.

Art is a wonderful teacher!! He is enthusiastic, reliable, knowledgeable and very personable. I feel extremely fortunate to have found Art to teach my 4 year old daughter.
My daughter has been eager to start learning the piano. I needed to find someone that is able to teach at her young level and to be able to connect with her shy personality. Amazingly, Art is able to make her laugh, smile, learn and have fun all at the same time!
My daughter has fun learning and we often find her practicing on her own at the piano. Actually, she considers it playtime at the piano! She is learning simple songs after just a few lessons. She is very proud of her ability to play and is always eager to see Art so that she can learn more.
I HIGHLY recommend Art as a piano teacher. It is obvious that he loves music, this is evident in his weekly teachings. As a parent, I couldn't be happier!!! Art is setting a firm foundation for our daughter's love for music.

I have taught speaking voice for about 7 years. I have trained speakers for various fortune 500 companies as well as person's just wanting to project their voice better in everyday life situations.
About Cyndi
As a teacher, Cyndi has taught "Vocal Technique" to students of all ages ranging from 5-70 for the past 25 years. She was Youth and Young Adult Music Director for Crenshaw Christian Center, one of the largest mega churches in America, as well as A&R for their record label. As a songwriter/producer/artist developer on staff for 12 years, she produced numerous CD
As a teacher, I get immense satisfaction from seeing my students excel and fly using the techniques and tools that I have taught them," Cyndi says beaming with pride. "My students have done tremendous things in the industry and it is my pleasure to continue to pass down the nuggets of wisdom and skill that I've obtained from over 30 years in the entertainment business."
Cyndi's training began at age 8 where she studied classical piano for 6 years. By age 15, she and her brother released their first independent single which did reasonably well locally. By age 19, while studying music at Ohio University, she along with her brother won "Right On" magazine's nationwide talent search and were offered two major recording contracts. She decided to sign with Philadelphia International Records under the auspices of Grammy Award winning producer, Thom Bell (who was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). She studied under Thom Bell and it was there that she learned the art of record production. She also studied vocal production under legendary Grammy Award winning producer, Hal Davis (Jackson five fame). Cyndi was taught proper vocal technique by vocal trainer to the stars, Seth Riggs and continued her private studies learning the vocal techniques of the great Alan Linquist. Her teaching style has subsequently morphed into a combination of all these great inspirational instructors.
As a teacher, Cyndi is kind, patient and extremely enthusiastic when it comes to instructing her students. Her students always see her as their friend and one who they know will bring out the best in them and desires that they grow to their fullest potential.

When you come to Cyndi for voice lessons, you can rest assured that your vocals will never be the same. She is as comfortable teaching the beginner as she is instructing the seasoned professional who wants to hone their skills even further. She can always bring something out of you that you didn't know was there. Maybe it's the confidence that she exudes when she instructs, maybe it's her innate ability to know what's needed at any given time to make the student better. But whatever it is, you can rest assured that your lesson will be fun, thorough, and the lesson plan that she devises will cause you to arrive at the musical goals that you've set for yourself. She can help you or your child prepare for upcoming auditions, as well as any other scheduled performance. Cyndi will create a lesson plan that will certainly be tailor-made for your style and needs.

The speaking voice is a powerful tool in essentially any area of work or performance. We sometimes take for granted the need of care and attention to our precious voices. You can treat the voice, regardless of your usage, as an instrument. No matter the demands, I can help you improve your speaking voice!
About Zachary
Dear Students and Parents:
My passion for performing and teaching brought me to TakeLessons as a way to enrich my immediate community (and beyond through Skype lessons!) and help individual students perform at their best. As an operatic performer, I thoroughly understand the importance of building a strong technical background for any level of singing or professional speaking. My other skills, like instrumental instruction, studying skills, accent reduction, and academic preparation are all offered through TakeLessons as well. As a teacher, I love having fun in lessons and building strong connections with my students at absolutely any level. My personal musical performing experiences span opera,
Thanks!
Zachary B.
A native of Charlotte, NC, Zachary began his musical career as a tuba player and jazz bass guitarist. While attending The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Zachary began singing in various vocal groups on campus and developed his love for the singing voice. With encouragement from the music faculty, Zachary began training as an operatic baritone while at UNC. While attending UNC, Zachary was awarded both the Fischer Scholarship in Voice and the Tony McDowell Voice Scholarship. His singing brought him to Boston in the summer of 2010 to begin study at The Boston Conservatory. While performing various opera roles and attending summer programs, Zachary also opened his private studio and taught at a local music academy.
Baritone Zachary B. is quickly establishing himself as an active operatic performer. Equally at home on the recital stage, his versatile lyric baritone voice fits a wide range of repertoire and styles. A graduate of The Boston Conservatory, Zachary has performed roles like the titular role in Don Giovanni, Ramiro in L'Heure Espagnole, L'horloge comtoise in L'Enfant et les sortileges, Pooh-Bah in The Mikado, and Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief.
Starting in February 2013, Zachary will also be available through TakeLessons for online instruction. Lessons will still focus on energy, breath, and solid technique, so please contact him if you think this venue of instruction will be a good fit!

Regardless of your background, I believe in making lessons fun, encouraging, and accessible. This means that my work with you will, by nature, be incredibly personal and always formulated for your specific musical goals. I will constantly strive to make sure you are comfortable in our work together as we explore singing, speaking, and music theory.
I believe every singing or speaking voice can benefit from a foundation in classical vocal technique. Whether you prefer to learn through singing songs or through various exercises, I can customize our lesson plan to fit your needs. Therefore, I provide a fun and engaging lesson atmosphere, but you need to bring your best as well! We will both be happier with the process if we are equally invested in your growth. We will start with something you already know (an aria, vocal exercise, or excerpt from a song) and work toward singing in your preferred vocal style. For example, classical singers will build their knowledge of English, German, Italian, and French diction and song styles. Additionally, I will always respect and include my student's musical interests.
Along the way, I am happy to address basic music theory ideas. If you prefer, we can also spend additional time reviewing and learning those principles to enrich your musical experience. I will always provide different exercises and ideas to keep your brain active in the singing process.
I believe in whole body, whole spirit singing. As a performer, I employ a variety of holistic exercises and theories to develop my own voice, such as basic Alexander Technique principles, voice therapy techniques, a variety of pedagogical palates, and energy work. If these sorts of things interest you, I am more than happy to incorporate them into our lessons. My personal results with those practices have been incredible, so I am always eager to share.
My personality is outgoing and energetic, so I bring that sort of atmosphere to a lesson. I expect preparedness and readiness on your part to maximize our work together. My greatest desire in teaching is to see you grow! So, if a challenging, yet comforting, work environment sounds like something you would like to try, consider scheduling a trial lesson with me. I am always happy to hear from new students!
*** Studio Equipment ***
Open area between the living room and the dining room, seating available, piano to accompany the voice lesson, garage/driveway/street parking.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I prefer for my students to have a keyboard or piano, and if possible, a music stand. We can always make a situation work if the student does not have access to these tools. I provide music, pencils, etc.
*** Specialties ***
I am an opera singer, and specialize in classical singing. However, I apply similar vocal technique to all genres of music, and focus on breathing technique, body and energy awareness, and discuss a holistic approach to singing with all students.

I am 22 years old and have never had a singing lesson before, although I previously played the saxophone and piano and therefore had some musical background. During our 5 lessons I had more fun than I could have imagined while learning important skills regarding warming up, breath support, and stylistic choices while singing. She helped me get over my nerves and not feel so silly singing in front of others - something I've always felt self-conscious about. I would absolutely recommend Sarah to any adult wishing to learn how to sing!

I admire her approach and her education!

With my extensive background in both musical performance as well as public speaking (I have worked with corporations, large and small in this area) as well as my published books/audiobooks on the subject, I am confident that I can teach you to sharpen your speaking skilles, enhance your charisma, and rein in any feelings of performance anxiety you may have! In short, I will show you how to speak with poise, power, and pizazz in any speaking situation!
About Stan
I also have over four decades of experience as a professional jazz, rock, and theater musician. My experience has taken me from nightclubs to concert stages, as well as television studios, radio stations, and many recording studios.
Finally, I am a published author with several titles dedicated to helping musicians becoming the best they can be.
**** MY TEACHING STYLE ****
My teaching style is often referred to as laid-back, gentle, informative, and very supportive. My focus is on enrichment, encouragement, and results.
I don't work with “one-size-fits-all” methods. Each lesson is customized to mak
I teach real music -- students begin playing music they love almost from day-one. For example, many of my piano and guitar students pride themselves on learning to play every song on the Beatles One album ... playing right along with the CD! Reading, playing by ear, improvisation (jamming), singing while you play ... there are so many ways to play and avenues to explore in music.
**** MY STUDIO ****
My studio is spacious (very spacious – no cubicles here!), well-appointed, and very quiet. Unlike music stores and multi-lesson facilities, there are no other lessons on the premises, no drummers going crazy on the other side of the wall. This means students can concentrate better and learn faster. There is also plenty of room for parents and siblings who may wish to sit in on lessons.
**** STYLES / GENRES ****
I believe that students make the most progress learning music they love and I am very happy to teach every student the style of music he or she loves most.
My most requested genres are: pop, rock, country, blues, classic rock, jazz, and classical. Some students arrive knowing exactly what they want, but most are happy to explore various styles that interest them in search of the perfect fit. It is not at all uncommon for a student to spend part of their lesson polishing up a Beethoven piece or jazz standard, then finish up playing the chords to “Hotel California” along with the CD. Another student might start off their lesson learning a Taylor Swift hit, then move over to doing some blues improvisation. Variety is a wonderful thing and it is highly encouraged!
**** MY STUDENTS ****
Over the years, I have taught students from four years old to eighty-somethings. I’ve taught absolute beginners (most of my students start from square-one), hobbyists, seasoned professionals, even a Grammy nominee and a Grammy winner! Many of my young students have gone on to perform in school bands / jazz bands and/or professionally. In all cases, they acquire a skill that will last for a lifetime and provide joy, enrichment, and satisfaction.
Do you have a song or two in your heart. Contact me today and I will help you reach your musical goals and have a good time doing it!
