I pioneered a private Arts Academy drama school for 4 years, and am now teaching acting and directing at a middle and high school. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.

Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy.
My husband also owns Sound waves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.

I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).

About Rebecca

Greetings! I am super excited to be building a private and small group lesson platform at our home studio and to meet your personal acting and performing needs! I recently stepped down from 2 years of full-time drama and visual art at Lumos Arts Academy- a private school I played a role in pione

Acting is such a broad term! What are your goals? Do you want to be in films? Do you want to do Shakespeare? Do you want to be in a sit com? Depending upon what your interests are and where you want to go, we will build a plan together. My philosophy on acting techniques is that they are tools to help you, not tests you pass if you're a good actor and fail if you're a bad one. Different techniques work for different people and it is our job to find out what inspires you.

I've worked as a professional actor for many years, performed on Broadway, have my MFA in Performing Arts, and my BA in Arts and Education. I was an assistant director to Tony-winner Sharon Ott and have written and produced my own work. I have experience in both stage and camera acting, which have specific technical differences, but are both a lot of fun once you get used to the medium. Audition technique, preparing monologues, and creating promotional materials are also things I can help with. Anyone who wants to ...

About Rebecca

My approach is both supportive and pragmatic, based on where each individual's skill set is right now and what your specific goals are. I've had the benefit of both formal instruction as well as a decade in the "school of hard knocks." Climbing up the ladder to earn my Equity Card on a Production C

A-mazing! She’s an awesome mentor! Her approach to singing is brilliant in the sense that she helps you explore yourself, your strengths and areas you could work on to improve. She helps you find and utilize your voice in a way that makes a unique artist. She digs in right to the foundation of singing (vocals) and performing. I am glad to have found her! And to add up, I never had a dull moment with her with her sense of humor and caring approach!

So, what is improv? Improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up in the moment. Often improvisers will take a suggestion from the audience, or or draw on some other source of inspiration to get started.

Improvisation, in my opinion, is one of the most important talents that an actor can acquire. I feel that it is essential in method acting and, as a theatre performer who understands that anything can happen on stage in front of a live audience, it is a tool of survival. Improv can also unlock our ability to be natural and, in turn, more believable.

Last but not least, an actor who has mastered the art of improv will be more confident and less nervous on stage.

About Tina

"Christine is amazing! She is one of the best improv people I have ever seen. Her ability to transform the audience to watch her every gesture is magical! She is a gifted instructor with a loving, caring, down to earth attitude. Quite honestly, I cannot get enough of watching her on stage! I wish I could learn all her skills so I could be half as awesome at improv as she is."

"Brad is a FANTASTIC teacher! He has taught many classes with Christian Youth Theater (CYT) and is our Improv coach in McHenry county. Our kids and parents absolutely adore him!!! He works so well with the kids that at our annual overnight camp this summer, one of his students was able to lead an improv game in front of 120 people. Our kids have grown enormously through Brad’s teaching and they just love being around him."

"Christine pays attention to the needs and level of understanding of each student. The ways she has taken time to instruct me, have not only taken me to another level, but then she'll turn around and explain it to the class, taking us all to another level as a group. She does in one class what some instructors I've had in NYC couldn't do in a month. She's patient and a great listener, which helps make her instruction so clear and incredibly effective. Including classes I've taken in LA, NYC, Indiana and Florida, Christine Alexander is easily the best Improv instructor I've ever had."
