About Lars

I began to teach guitar at 16 years of age. I have taught seven- to 60-year-old students in a wide variety of styles. I studied jazz guitar primarily with Randy Vincent, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's greatest guitar players, and continue to broaden my horizons under the guidance of Matthew Grasso. Aside from teaching, I compose, perform, and research in Music and Language Arts.

Lars is an awesome instructor. Very knowledgeable and also very articulate with his instructions. I highly recommend him. I am an absolute beginner and yet he was able to share so much in the very first lesson itself! He also makes learning fun.

About Christien

Hi! I have a degree in Early Music Voice from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and have studied voice with private teachers intermittently over the past two decades.

I also have a Master's in Cello Performance, and can teach cello at the beginner to upper intermediate level. My experience in teaching is with modern (standard) cello, but I can also teach the basics of baroque cello (with gut strings and a baroque bow). Gut strings can be finicky, but their sound is warm and expressive. If you are interested to know more, just drop me a note! Another instrument I can teach is the Viola da Gamba, a very interesting early 6- or 7-string instrument with gut strings. (That's the instrument I'm holding in my profile picture!)
Aside from music, I have taught English as a Foreign and Second Language (in Bulgaria with Peace Corps,

in New Mexico with Berlitz, at the U. of New Mexico). I would be very pleased to help students of any age with reading, listening comprehension, and writing.

Collins had his first cello lesson with Christien today. He love it! Christien is super patient and very very professional. She corrected Collins' posture and the way to hold the bow. Christine gave very clear instruction, and made the lesson lot of fun.

Had to write a separate review for this subject. Jamone taught me step-by-step how to use my Cannon Rebel EOS T5. I am a youtube vlogger, and I was looking to create higher quality videos for my viewers. Jamone gave me tons of camera knowledge to better my videos. Thanks!

About Jennie

Are you preparing for (gulp) college auditions? Getting ready for a big presentation at work? Curious about acting and want to give a shot? Whatever your performance goals might be, I can't wait to take your work to the next level!

I am a lifelong actor and passionate teacher, who loves to help students find joy, freedom, and dynamism in performance.

I have an MFA from the Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University/ The Shakespeare Theatre of DC (the only MFA in the world specifically devoted to acting Shakespeare) and a BFA from NYU-Tisch (with a focus on musical theatre at CAP 21). I have been a member of Actors' Equity since age 19, and have played leading roles off-Broadway (The Mint Theater, The Actors’ Studio) and regionally (Bucks County Playhouse, Fireside Theatre, East Lynne Theatre, etc), with notabl

e reviews in Variety, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and many others.

In addition to performing, I am a Standardized Patient at UMD and John's Hopkin's University, where I assist doctors and nurses in patient communication. As a teaching artist, I have worked with students age 5-88 on finding and sharing their unique voice.

As your coach, we will patiently and persistently discover the methods that enable your absolute best work. I am a certified Yoga teacher, and I love to draw on principles of mindfulness in performance preparation. From Linklater voice work, to Mask exercises, to breath awareness, we will develop a method that works for you. Best of all: we'll have a blast doing it.

Jennie is a wonderful speaking coach! She is incredibly kind, patient, and encouraging. I feel much more confident in how I present myself to others, especially those I've just met in the formal setting of an interview. Jennie has prepared me with warmup exercises to suit any type of mood, whether it be calming down or harnessing nervous energy in a positive way. Additionally, I learned effective ways to be more present and truly connect with people in interviews. I recommend working with Jennie- she is very genuine and truly cares about her students. I look forward to the chance to work with her in the future!

About Lindan

I began playing violin at age 2 1/2. I started the viola in 2011/2012 and am currently pursuing a BM at The Juilliard School, studying with Misha Amory. I am a recipient of the Juilliard, C.V. Starr, Edna M. Rossum and Ann S. Alderman and W. Harold Alderman Scholarships.
I have participated in masterclasses with world-renowned violists including Samuel Rhodes, Lawrence Dutton, Steve Tenenbom and Brett Deubner, among others. Past summer festivals include Young Artist’s Program NAC in Ottawa, Castleman Quartet Program, Perlman Music Program and Yellow Barn Young Artists Program. In 2015, I placed 2nd in the Junior Division of the ASTA National Solo Competition. In 2016, I studied with Helen Callus at the Colburn Academy under the Greendale Scholarship. My viola and bow are generously loaned by the Maestro Foundation.

I have been interested

in teaching for a long time. I have taught my younger siblings since I was 11 years old, and coached young chamber ensembles since I was 13. I have given private lessons to students since I was 16. I love figuring out how each student best communicates. I constantly think about games or strategies to teach a certain technique. Whether you're interested in casual lessons or want to push yourself to the limit, expect lessons with me to be a positive, enjoyable experience!

"Mr. K taught was amazing. He taught the GED in Michigan a few years ago. The moment I walked into his classroom, it was just one and one. He didn't tre
at me like all the other teachers. He actually cared and it showed. But man, is he hard! I didn't think I would get homework after the first class, but I was seriously wrong. But over the next two months, he grilled me and grilled me until I wanted to scream. But when I took the GED and was scored, I aced it! Just to warn yall though, he's not an easy teacher. And he doesn't put up with excuses. But when he gives you his attention, its all of it.

He even went waaaay beyond the call of duty and helped me get into college at Lansing Community College. He walked me through the application, even drove and met me at LCC, and sat with me when we talked to the reps. He even helped me look for scholarships and gave me advise on financial aid! This guy is a saint!"
