I have been a math teacher for over three years and a tutor for over five years. I have taught levels ranging from pre-algebra/middle school math all the way up to AP Calculus at a Title I school. I studied at Purdue University and got my degree in Mathematics. I am very passionate about teaching and believe anyone can learn math! I love being able to break down a complex idea in a way that is accessible to all learners. I believe being a teacher is becoming a master of such a thing. I am extremely patient and love to use my creativity to explain and create a math experience that will make someone go "aha!". I think math is usually seen as being overly complicated or requiring extensive memorization to become proficient in it, but I believe anyone is capable of learning math and there are so many ways to think about math to begin with. I try to incorporate these ideas into my teaching.
I have a strong passion for teaching and I have worked with many students that come from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. I start by first analyzing what gaps may exist in their understanding of math and then working with them step-by-step in order to build them up! I am extremel

She took my information and helped me formulate a plan according to my needs. She took my old presentation and helped me to change it to make it far more powerful and compelling. My presentation went from mediocre at best, to a solid well accepted presentation. In fact, when my presentation was done, I had two separate decision makers ask me to present with their companies."
Having read Christopher's bio, I sensed that there was something special about him, and that he was the right one for our son who has some learning challenges, particularly in the area of Math. I believe it is very important a tutor connects not only on an academic level but also where there can be some light hearted conversation. Christopher arrived punctually for our first meeting and his assessment of our son. In advance of that meeting I had explained to Christopher what the challenges are and what our collective objectives are. As soon as I saw him, he appeared to relaxed but confident. After an initial introduction, I stepped away to let Christopher and our son become acquainted and he immediately set about establishing some common ground which happened to be a particular sport. No more than Christopher, our son is also very perceptive and despite the fact that he initially resisted the idea of any tutor, his words after this first meeting were "I can work with him"! Its obviously early days yet, but so far so good!"
I was very impressed with how open she was to setting goals and having something prepared for our first meeting."
