About Tim (William)
*** Lesson Details ***
For my younger guitar students, I use the Progressive Guitar Method for Young Beginners series. This book includes a CD to help the student practice at home. For my older guitar students I use a progressive guitar curriculum of my own creation.
For my voice students I use Pathways of Song, Hall Johnson Spirituals, 24 Italian Songs and Arias, Alfred's Folk Songs for Solo Singers, Carl Fisher's The Young Singer series as well as song materials based upon the student's personal interests, such as arts songs and Broadway show tunes.
For my piano students I use the Piano Adventures series by Nancy and Randall Faber and the Alfred Piano Series. Music reading, ear training and theory is part of my instruction. With daily practice you will see a noticeable improvement in musicianship, aural skills and music-reading ability.
I am also an experienced tutor. I have worked with students of all ages and with various learning differences. I have tutored students in reading, writing, math, social studies, ESL and test preparation.
Through online instruction, I am available around the clock and around the globe for tutoring and music lessons.

She is incredibly patient with girls of all ages, and breaks down skater mechanics in a very clear and concise way. The kids love her and tell all of the other coaches all the time that she's their favorite. #nottakingitpersonally
We're so excited to have her as a coach in the Spring!

Scoring at the 99th percentile on the ACT myself, I have tutored the ACT for the Princeton Review, other large test prep companies, and in my own SAT/ACT business for many years. Many of my students score in the 90-95th percentile and above, with some even receiving perfect scores. I have consistently received strong recommendations from those that I tutor the ACT on.
Now for the 2017-2018 school year, I stand as one of the top tutors on Wyzant in the U.S. and Bay Area (hours-per-month & rating wise) and have tutored 820+ hours at Princeton Review and 3500+ hours at other private tutoring companies, including his own. ~~~~~~~~~~~ My Personal Message to You ~~~~~~~~~~~
One of the wisest teachers once said that poor grades, study habits, and test scores are not life-threatening, but they are college-, job- , career-, and quality-of-life threatening. The most competitive students take a pro-active approaching to academics and tutoring while the least competitive take a reactive approach. All you need to do is watching the documentary 'Two Million Minutes' by Bob Compton to realize why students in other countries such as India and China surpass American peers in almost every subject, especially language (writing, grammar, etc.), math, science, and engineering-related subjects. They attend extra classes and tutoring from 6-7 AM in the morning to almost midnight.
In today's fast-paced and competitive job market, there is simply too much to lose by not investing now in your child's or your education. If a student is struggling, it makes sense to get him/her the help needed so that the time spent in school is worthwhile. Great grades and test scores can open doors that may have been previously closed and are also significant factors when determining scholarships, so investing time and effort now can pay off substantially in the future. Finally, let's not forget the most important part in all of this: the student. The confidence, knowledge, and skills that a student gains through effective tutoring can last a lifetime.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch. Every day spent waiting is another class or lecture's worth of material that you might potentially fall behind or another low quiz/test/exam score that will only make it harder to recover from. I have had too many students who could have received the grade(s) they wanted had they contacted me from the beginning.

I did not always know I wanted to be a teacher. I originally enrolled in college to become a biomedical engineer. However, an internship in Pennsylvania as an environmental educator lead me to go back to college to become a mi
When I moved to Chicago, however, I did not find a school that allowed me as much freedom to teach, and thus I decided to pursue tutoring full-time. Because of my professional and personal experiences, I can quickly assess my students, molding my teaching style to maximize their strengths and reshape their weaknesses into positive traits. Perhaps most importantly, I teach them how to learn, so they are always in the powerful position of being able to help themselves. This custom approach ensures they’re given every tool necessary to be successful, building their confidence and skills enough to ultimately wean them off their tutor in the near future.
