Bridget has been a saving grace for my family, helping my 11 yr old daughter with math. Through her calm demeanor and patience she managed to help my daughter bring a failing math grade to a solid B. Bridget has been able to teach my daughter in a way that connects with her. Facing the rest of this long school year seems much easier knowing we have Bridget to help get us over those pesky humps with the dreaded 6th grade math.

If you're stuck on concepts or just feeling totally overwhelmed by math in general, let's work together to find a way for these concepts to make sense and feel relevant for YOU. Once they click, they click, and I think you'll find that understanding and solidifying some foundational concepts will make the rest of your coursework much more manageable.

About Julie
GENERAL: I enjoy getting to know my students and their specific interests and quirks, and incorporating those into lessons to help folks better connect with and get excited about the material. I specialize in confidence-building and will be with you every step of the way as you not only gain skills, but perhaps face and overcome some emotional barriers or frustrations. I like to make lessons playful, fun, and relevant to how you want to use these tools in the world.

SINGING AND MUSIC LESSONS: In addition to providing technical training, I believe that singing is about liberation and expression, and have had successes in helping students to find their unique voices through overcoming vocal anxieties. I both work with students who are preparing for auditions and who play in professional bands, and also with students who have only ev
er sung in the shower and just want to get more comfortable using their own voice for fun. I also specialize in teaching music theory (including how to read music, rhythm practice, and harmony), playing an instrument and singing at the same time, and songwriting coaching. I degree in music from Brown University, have been a professional, performing musician for 12 years, and have been teaching private lessons and classes for 8 years.

For those in bands: I specialize in harmony and can do consultation sessions with you and/or your band to help with blending, finding harmonies that work for your respective vocal ranges and for the flow of the song, and teaching skills for finding and building harmonies.

MATH: As a middle and high school student, I didn't believe I was "good" at math. It wasn't until I was an adult and was hired as a math tutor - and later promoted to Assistant Director - of a tutoring company that I realized that was a belief that had held me back. Many kids and young adults struggle with confidence around math, and having had experience with that myself I use tools that help meet students where they're at and support them in building enthusiasm for math and confidence in themselves. In addition to providing tangible math skills (I have not only been tutoring Algebra, Geometry, SAT prep, elementary and middle school math for 5 years, but have also helped run a math tutoring company in which I built year-long curricula for grades K-12), I help students feel that math is within their grasp and can be approached with curiosity rather than fear and low self-esteem.

I had no idea when we signed up for SAT prep lessons with Julie, the level of help we would get. Julie went so far above and beyond what you would expect a tutor to do. During the lessons, she was always incredibly encouraging and focused. She explained things in a way that just made more sense. And then in between lessons, she sent problems like the ones we had trouble with to help solidify what was learned. She sent links to other sample problems and communicated regularly about the progress being made. I couldn’t rave enough about Julie!

Let me help you with your math!

About Milka
My name is Milka T. Woldu. I have been tutoring for about 8 years now. I am an MB3 (Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Biochemistry) Major. I believe students learn science by doing science, and that my classes are a medium through which my students will learn life skills that are critical for their success in college and future careers. As our students must be prepared to work cooperatively in a global and technological society where many of them will eventually hold jobs that do not yet exist, I emphasize critical thinking and problem solving, using our science content to develop good evidence-based reasoning and communication skills.

Milka tutored me in chemistry and I ended up with an A! She was so patient and always willing to help. Even if I had a question about homework I could text her and she would help me out. She even had to leave town and was willing to skype or facetime. You can tell that she loves what she does. I highly recommend her as a tutor!! It was more than about money for her!

Math can be intimidating to students. I know because it used to be this way for me. However, with the help of a fantastic professor I fell in love.

I found that understanding why operations are performed as they are intended helped me to finally see the pieces fall into place. Thus, my approach to any mathematics revolves around understanding they why just as much as how to implement the techniques.

I also assist students in finding the way that best suits them to properly study the subject. Math, unlike other subjects, requires repetitive practiced application. Developing the proper study skills and fine tuning organizational skills go a very long way in being a successful math student.

About Jessica
I am studying for an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Texas, Dallas. I have an Associate in Science degree from Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, Texas. I am also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for academic excellence and received a place on the All-State Academic Team.

While working towards my degree I have run many study and tutoring groups where students saw an average increase of a full letter grade. I also assisted students individually. I spent just under three years working as a biology lab assistant with Eastfield College. My job responsibilities included assisting individuals with the material presented in lab, writing experiments that supported information learned in lecture, and assisting in creating new lab manuals.

Learning should be individualized to every student. I not
only work with students on the material, but also place an emphasis in organizational and study skills. I encourage students to think about the why and how to deepen understanding.

My chemistry knowledge encompasses general chemistry through physical chemistry. I have a unique style of teaching and am talented in creating fun, interesting ways to understand and remember specific concepts.

About Ashley
I am a professional quantitative chemist with a bachelors degree in chemistry and mathematics from the University of South Florida.

I am passionate about math and chemistry and find that quite often students find these two subjects to be daunting at times. However, I am here to make learning these subjects a much more enjoyable experience.

Students can expect to see noticeable improvements from the get go and will quickly find themselves actually enjoying the their lessons. I not only teach students the concepts but also offer fun and enjoyable ways to remember them and apply what they learn with me to other situations. I focus on simplifying complicated topics and sparking an interest in the student that will cause them to be more excited about learning.

I teach math and chemistry students of all different ages and experience level
s. I have studied these subjects extensively and am able to teach students in basic math and chemistry, all the way up through college level. I also have extensive experience in quantitative chemistry research and am able to teach the critical thinking skills I have acquired through this to each student.

My Math lessons are unique because not only am i focusing on how to do math, but why. I focus on all math topics so students can build on previous understanding. i I teach math because I know the struggle. I have experienced all those bad feelings a math class can cause to a weak student. And I know, from personal experience, how to get over them. No person should feel like a failure or as simple-minded, because they didn’t have a person to explain to them, with a friendly, interesting and comprehensible way, some basic stuff.

About Kimberly
Hi! My name is Kimberly Bonitto and I am currently a college student. I want to become your Tutor because it have the very important responsibility of shaping the lives of young, impressionable children. With this responsibility comes great pride and joy.I am currently studying as a biological sciences major with minors in biology and health sciences at the Florida Atlantic University. My specialization in the STEM classes allows me to be a helpful tutor in most elementary to high school level math and science courses and I have been tutoring on my own steadily for about a year. I received A's in both precalculus and trigonometry at FAU, and have been tutoring middle to high school level math for a year now. I have always had a knack for explaining things, and as a result I love to teach I have always enjoyed my experiences teaching and t
utoring math students in various settings. I try to take the approach of first gauging where the student is at in terms of knowledge and understanding as well as his or her learning style, and then building on that foundation to get to the point where he or she needs to be. No matter how good one becomes at something, there is always room for improvement in every area of life. We are all human beings, so we can all be constantly striving to get better. I am excited to hear from you and to have the opportunity to guide you in your educational journey.
