As a Civil Engineer, I have obtained a solid background in mathematics- this is one of the most important topics in the discipline! But I also know it can be quite a challenge, so I can help you out with several subjects, be it middle school geometry or high school pre-calculus.

About Pedro

I am a Civil Engineer specialized in Earthquake Engineering, but have diversified my background throughout the years (I am an avid student myself!). My teaching experience includes working as a professor at my university back at home and tutoring high school students- mainly in mathematics and phys

Pedro is a very good tutor. He is patient and explains the subject matter well. The student was comfortable with him and therefore was able to ask questions whenever it was needed. I appreciated Predro's schedule flexibility as well.

I had no idea how lucky I would be to find Pedro. I am an interior designer learning Autocad and having no prior experience with the program, Pedro made it totally accessible. He is a phenomenal teacher and is so kind and patient. He provides foundational rules at the beginning of each session and has clear goals mapped out for every step of the way. We have done a number of exercises that I did not think would be possible for me to accomplish at this point. I am so grateful to have found him and highly recommend him!!!!!

I stress understanding rather than memorizing formulas. This ensures my students can derive formulas/solutions even without memorization.

I know firsthand how difficult it is to learn math whether you are a total newbie, or a budding intermediate, but I have overcame these challenges myself and will guide you to overcome them too. I also have close to 8 years of tutoring experience, which will surely come in handy!

About Bill

I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.

"Colin is amazing. I was preparing to take the AFOQTS and my first score was 70... I scheduled lessons with Colin and 2 weeks later I scored a 98 on the actual test! Colin was extremely good at communicating with me, being flexible in our lessons and adopting what he was teaching to exactly what I needed. Like me he had to "relearn" math as an adult and because of that he is able to explain things so that they make sense logically rather than give formulas to memorize like my horrible public school teachers.

I really cannot recommend him enough, thank you for all your help Colin!"

"Janis first tutored our son in math. I was impressed with her admission to me that our son was smart enough to do the math on his own, but needed only motivation. She allowed us to be the ones to decide if we wanted to spend the money on tutoring after having this knowledge. We did continue, and she was really great with him. His grade was raised before we knew it! We then found out she gave guitar lessons and hired her to teach my daughter. She was incredibly patient and made the lessons fun. Both my son and daughter developed a strong relationship with her. I highly recommend her to teach anything!"

"Rod worked with my daughter weekly for a couple of months leading up to the NYC state tests. With Rod's careful, concerted planning and diligence, my daughter's score went from 2.4 on the 7th grade Math state test, to a 2.8 in 8th grade, which equates to a move from below the 50th percentile, to between the 50th and 75th percentile. My daughter's in-school math instruction was chaotic and disjointed, and I attribute her improvement to Rod's intervention."

"Julia is a highly knowledgeable, professional and personable teacher. My son has been tutored by her since the age of 4 and is now 13. His MAP and PARCC scores are off the charts and he just received his placements for Stevenson High School with the recommendations for the highest math classes offered to incoming freshmen. Julia taught him to love and be passionate about mathematics. Her primary goal is to make sure that the students learn in a stress-free environment and with that strategy she is able to accomplish brilliant results. I recommend Julia highly. She is very approachable and patient, loves children and loves what she does."
