Despite what TakeLessons says about my location, I can come to you even if you don't live on the East side.
I have an associates degree in music and I have been teaching lessons for 10 years now. I also have experience as a substitute teacher. As a substitute, I have taught all grades, all subjects, and I have helped out many kinds of students each with their own way of learning.
Besides teaching, I love learning too. Anytime I have a question I immediately start seeking out the answer. Learning never stops!
*** Lesson Details *** Ever wondered how musicians write music? Why do they make the choices they make? Why do those choices work? Why does music work the way that it does? I can answer all these questions and much more.
With me as your guide, I will unlock your musical superpowers and make you capable of things you didn't know were possible. I have many different methods for teaching not only technique, but how to listen, and ho
w to think creatively so that you can unlock your full potential.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide my guitar, picks, and tuner and that's really all you will need as well.
I'll occasionally bring my laptop with me to use some music software to assist in my lessons.
I'll always have pens and paper so I can make notes or diagrams if needed. I highly recommend that my students have a spiral notebook so I can more easily cater to them.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in many musical genres including rock, ska, punk, progressive, jazz, folk, and more. Music theory is a big part of what I do as it's the universal language of music. If you learn enough theory, you can learn ANY instrument.
John is incredibly smart about theory and understanding the guitar having worked out his own individual way of learning that he is happy to share his trade secrets.

My son was new guitar player, he has now had several lessons with John. We have seen his skills grown exponentially. John really connects with him and keeps him engaged. He has taught him soo much in such a short span of time. John is a fantastic teacher!
Master in all geometry concepts. Can identify student shortfalls and address them through the subject fundamentals approach and by tying in real world applications for easier grasp of material.
I'm a graduate of UCLA School of Engineering with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I have a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 10 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success!
Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subjects can be attribute
d to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up with the pace and workload that advanced courses demand or haven't figured out the best way to study for themselves. I am able to assess a student's shortcomings and formulate a plan for higher achievement.
I possess an adept understanding of mathematical and scientific subject matters. I have accrued a great deal of knowledge and experience tutoring in these subjects over the last seven years. I have a wide arsenal of tutoring approaches, as I've worked with a number of students possessing a wide variety of learning styles and personalities.
I'm very patient and easy-going, so let's get you started!
My name is Mena. I have a strong background in math with a degree in Actuarial science and have been tutoring the SAT, ACT, common core Algebra 1, 2, and Geometry for over four years. I have extensive knowledge of the testing strategies needed to make the exam fun and easy. I work with students to find areas that need strengthening then work patiently with them to hone their skills. Successful test preparation is largely about demystifying the test through time spent learning the correct approach which I have years of experience doing, with that confidence students can achieve any score they set their minds to.
I have been tutoring Common Core Math, Algebra I & II, Geometry, SAT, ACT, and Grade school math since 2012; there is nothing I enjoy more than watching my students succeed.
I create a relaxed environment for my students in order to make the work stress free and enjoyable. My goal is to make the coursework fun for the student by finding an approach to learning that works best based on their unique characteristics. Being able to empathize with students in order to understand where their challenges lie and patient in helping them overcome those hurdles is where I excel. By exploring different approaches to difficult concepts I break them into manageable pieces that fit with each students prior experience which make learning approachable rather than overwhelming. Behind every concept we have yet to master there is a myth in our mind about
what it entails. Demystifying through creativity and humor allows my students to overcome a combination of fear, frustration and/or complacency that we all experience at some point while learning.
I have tutored dozens of students in the SAT and ACT and have helped them all increase their scores with most increasing their SAT score at least 100 points and some by over 400 points and on the ACT most by over 8 points and some by over 15 points. These are very difficult tests designed to be difficult to improve on. All of my students who gave themselves plenty of time to prepare and followed through on their promise to work on their own have seen significant score improvements.I have also worked with numerous students on developing study skills; helping them find the fun in school as well as helping with their organization skills and approach to homework.
We like Mena’s Style of teaching. He has a way to get my 16-yr-old son to study and do extra math work daily. He goes through the lessons to prep my son for the school work and also get him to do the SAT prep. He has a lot of knowledge and tricks on the SAT that are very helpful. We do a weekly class with Mena is the past 6 months and will continue through high school.

Mena was wonderful! He really pushed my brother to work hard. He provided really helpful and informative packets that my brother is continuing to use. Thanks to Mena, my brother feels a lot more confident in Math and has a lot of great tools, strategies and resources.
I have a MBA in International Business. Math is at its foundation. Without math and geometry things would be more complicated. Knowing geometry helps one become an architect, an engineer or a games designer, opportunities are endless.
Before reading about me, I'd like to share up front the honor that my newest student, R., has brought to me by choosing to learn Romanian. Nothing special so far except that he is 100 years old!!!! Yes, you read that correctly: a century old. He is the outmost inspiring person in my life by teaching me that age is just a number and that learning can happen any day if we choose so. R is a medical doctor, a psychologist, a chemist and biologist. Words can't even define how great of a man he is and how grateful I am to learn from him, too. For instance, about a famous language called "esperanto", a language created in the late 19th century.
I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested studen
t who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).
I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.
I believe in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.
I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages (and proper grammar rules which highly reflect on one's education) by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration and health.
I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.
I have been tutoring geomertry for over 5 years. During that time, I have helped students achieve the results that they were looking for. One student in particular was attending a private school wanted me to help him get ready for his test in geometry. I talked with his fatther and we arranged lessons at a library. During that time, we went over the concepts and practiced until he understood them. When it was time for him to take the final, he passed it and ultimately passed the class. His father was very grateful.
I am a graduate of Alabama State University and have a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics. I have years of experience helping students in the ASU mathematics lab. I also have experience tutoring high school students as part of the ASPIRE Mentoring Program and I have tutored elementary and middle school students as well. Topics that I have tutored include basic math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and calculus.
While tutoring at ASU, I have modified my tutoring style to provide better service. What happens is that during the first few sessions, I get to know each person and some things about the course that they are taking such as the syllabus content, the type of grade the person wants in the course, the number of points each assignment is worth, and the date of the next major test. I then try to hold tutoring sessions in accordance w
ith this information. During a session, I go over homework, explain concepts that may be misunderstood, go over topics that I think are especially important, and sometimes give practice problems. I do a lot of visual explanations for concepts. Periodically, I would ask about the grade that was made on a recent test and modify my tutoring style if necessary. My goal is to help everyone that I tutor strengthen their mathematical skills.
Usually, I tutor by appointment and each session usually lasts for about 1 hour. In order to reschedule or cancel an appointment, I request a 24-hour notice. I am willing to meet in a public place or online.
I also make videos that cover math concepts in order to make it a little easier for students to get the information that they need to be successful. If you would like for me to make a video, please let me know!
So you are taking Geometry and do not seem to get those proof things. You are not alone. Let me help you until you can stand on your own. It does get easier with time and a tutor can help.
Welcome to Takelessons.com! There are many lovely teachers on this site. I am here to help you succeed. I offer English, Writing, Piano, Math, Test Preparation, Dissertation writing, and Homework help.
Music: I can offer you a well rounded plan of study and you can choose what and how you would like to learn. For example, young students generally want to learn to read the notes. For these I give classes in theory, music history, ear training, and technique along with the note reading. Older students generally want to learn to play songs they know by learning notes in the right hand and putting chords in the left hand. For these students, I emphasize the theory so they will understand what notes go together to make a nice sound.
My background has been in church music. I started playing at church for services when I was 16 years old.
I love math, I love physics, I love teaching. Working with numbers to get exact answers makes me feel accomplished as much as when I see my students experiences that "Eureka!" moment with my help. My private tutoring started when I was Junior in high school many many years ago, and helped many students, ranging from elementary to high school, refining their problem-solving skills. Remember, math isn't just + - x /!
I liked solving math problems ever since I was little, which ended up all the way to graduating from UCLA with a B.S. in Astrophysics. I started tutoring Math, Chemistry, and Physics ever since when I was a junior in high school, and I practically paid my college tuition through tutoring math and science to as young as 3rd grade to someone in college. If you just want a couple of problems solved/explained, or want to learn the entire lesson and logic behind them. I will be happy to lend you a helping hand.
"I asked Rod to work with my daughter on geometry to help her get ready for 9th grade. Rod explains each concept and its application very well. His lessons
are appropriate for grade level but also challenging. I am particularly happy that my daughter is learning a broader approach to problem solving and critical thinking. As a scientist (PhD in chemistry) and a mother of a teenager, I appreciate Rod’s approach as it will provide a solid foundation for my daughter’s learning for many years to come. And he is always on time and gives me an overview of what was covered and what will be covered after each lesson. I highly recommend him."
"Jessie is highly competent and remarkably effective in Geometry and Algebra! She is super helpful and helped both of my daughters understand and grasp ve
ry difficult and challenging math problems when they were under a time deadline. Thanks again, Jessie!"
"Anthony is a thorough professional and devoted tutor. My teenage daughter, who is homeschooling and takes 1 or 2 intensive courses at a time, was able to
swiftly move through the geometry material with the excellent instruction and guidance of Anthony as her teacher."
"Great first lesson with my son, thank you!"
"Awesome experience with Daniel! He takes the time to guide you and review when necessary. Thanks Daniel, for the amazing results!"
"We had never tried any type of tutoring prior to finding Jessie. She exceeded our expectations by far! After just 4 one hour lessons online with Jessie, m
y daughter’s Geometry grade has gone from an F to a C! I am extremely confident that my daughter will pass this class and the final exam. Thank you Jessica, for your knowledge and patience. I will recommend her to anyone I know that is looking for an amazing tutor!"
