I'm a full time touring musician, I studied music in school for 8 years, but I can honestly say I've learned more about music through my years as a touring musician. I find great joy in sharing all the things I've learned over the years.

I like getting to know my students; their expectations and goals as an aspiring drummer, and I build my curriculum around their needs.

In my lessons you can expect to learn, and have fun!

One of the best things about taking a weekly lesson with Rob is that I can practice and learn what he teaches me all week and make a list of questions to ask during our next lesson. I highly recommend his method of learning Ableton.

To me, learning any instrument is about balancing the exercises with the fun material that makes you want to keep playing. I am a technique-focused teacher insofar as making sure any student of mine is avoiding bad and sometimes unhealthy habits in their playing. I do, however, try to find fun ways to work on technique, with the end goal being playing repertoire that is fun for the student. I believe technical exercises have their place in learning any instrument, but that it's important to spend the majority of your practice time on material which is ultimately enjoyable to play.

I do have certain sets of books I like to follow depending on the student's interests and age, but I am always happy to tweak the lesson plan to fit the student's needs. I also tend to supplement whichever books I'm using with material of my own, to make sure we're also covering important topics such as music theory and maybe a bit of relevant music history in the process.

I never thought I'd study classical guitar, but Mr Josh showed me how important it is to have a good foundation to build from. Highly recommended!

"I do not know what we would have done without Sharon to tutor our son in Calculus. She helped him work through areas in which he would get stuck and encourage him along the way. We were also able to have her help tutor our younger son in Algebra when he hit a concept that needed to be explained in more detail. I personally appreciate how positive and encouraging she is when the student feels like they can't figure out the problem. I'm sure my son will reach out to her for tutoring next year in college."

"Nayoon took my daughter from a failing grade to an “A”. I am indebted to her. My daughter loves Nayoon because she is interested, kind & cheery. She is ten steps ahead and understands exactly what the teacher wants her to learn. But, more importantly, Nayoon taught her how to think and not just memorize. Nayoon doesn’t try to waste time or spread out a lesson. She cares more about my daughter learning & absorbing & being prepared! My daughter now wants to take the AP exam in chemistry because Nayoon made chemistry interesting & understandable. Thank you so much!!! Hilary Kramer"
