##### About Daniel

I'm a graduate of UCLA School of Engineering with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I have a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 9 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven very effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success!

#### About Colin S.

CloseI have been helping others learn math for three years now, and I enjoy watching it click for others just as much as I enjoyed it when math first began to make sense to me. From experience, I know that mathematics can be very easy, or seemingly impossible to learn depending on how the information and concepts are presented. Whether you need help with fractions, factoring polynomials, trigonometric identities, solving triple integrals or anything in between, I can break everything down to first principles, and help you attain that deep understanding of the concepts that will get you that A on your next test.

##### About Colin

As a tutor, my goal is not to impress you with how much I know. Rather, my goal is to impress you by showing you how easily math and science concepts can come to you when you are presented the material the way *you* need to see and hear it. It's my guarantee to you that I will always strive to communicate the concepts effectively, listen to your questions with patience, and work with your unique way of learning to help you truly understand the material. This takes time, and it takes work

*Read a little further if you would like to know about my personal story on my journey to becoming a math and science tutor*

Admittedly, I didn't discover my passion for math and science until years after high school. In fact, I was seemingly terrible at both. This, I later found, was mainly due to poor communication and poor presentation of the concepts from my high school teachers. Almost eight years later, a genuine curiosity induced me to seek out YouTube videos on various math and science topics, and upon finding the right videos, where the material was presented effectively, it was actually fun and very satisfying to learn. In fact, I found that the concepts came rather easily to me. It was a night and day difference from my high school experience.

At this point, it was a glaring reality to me that people simply do not learn effectively when they aren't being presented the material in a very clear and interesting manner (for some strange reason, this is especially a problem with physics teachers/professors). For example, understanding *why* acceleration has units of meters per second squared makes those units much easier to memorize than simply knowing "it just does." Knowing *why* the x-coordinate of the vertex of a parabola is -b/2a, and why it's useful to even know how to find the vertex, makes it worlds easier to memorize than being told "it just is." Very few people in the world can learn effectively just by hearing dry, seemingly random information. On the contrary, people tend to learn and remember information they deem valuable. Since this discovery, it has been a goal of mine to help others learn and enjoy math and science the same way I do. I accomplish this by being a clear communicator, and teaching math and science concepts with excitement and demonstrating how this knowledge is valuable.

A drive to teach others is not the only good thing to come from my latent discovery of my passion for STEM. After teaching myself algebra through YouTube videos and various books, I enrolled in community college and placed in trigonometry. After completing my general education with a 4.0, I transferred to UC Berkeley into the biomedical engineering program and the rest, as they say, is history. Amazing things can happen when you are able to learn effectively!

#### About Manuel F.

CloseI have more than 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Last teaching position as Chairman of Statistical Engineering at University of Playa Ancha, Valparaiso, Chile. Living in Florida since 2016.

I have a B. S. in Economics and a M. Sc. in Statistics. I am also working in my Ph. D. thesis and I hope to finish on 2019. Actually, I am working as tutor at Palm Beach State College.

What is one of the most important things of teaching or tutoring? Making people understand "complicated things" with simple words. Despite math has many abstract concepts, it is nice to find a practical and easy way to make it easier.

What make me different? I do not only have theoretical experience, also applied and practical, for more than 20 years.

It does not matter in which level you are, I am sure that I can help you to succeed.

I have experience teaching basic math, algebra (basic, intermediate and linear), geometry, trigonometry, pre calculus, calculus (differential and integral), statistics ...

##### About Manuel

I moved to USA after I got married, and I am starting a new life here. I am sure I can help you understanding the wonderful world of mathematical sciences. Feel free to contact me for any additional information.

#### About David N.

CloseEver ask yourself, "When am I ever going to use this...?" I make math relevant to the real world. I teach methods to check work, do mental math, and logical problem solving to address even the hardest of math problems. I have proven methods for doing the often dreaded "story problems" as well...!

I let my students tell me what they understand about a problem, and then fill in the blanks from there. I have found that if a student can explain how and why a problem is solved in a particular way, that they will be able to solve other problems with confidence and ease!!

#### About Howard W.

CloseI have a doctoral degree and 30 years of teaching experience in mathematics at public and private colleges. I have also done much one-on-one tutoring and curriculum planning. I am now retired.

I can help you learn arithmetic, algebra, finite math, trigonometry, or any other area of mathematics from primary or secondary school, or beginning college math. I have heard my students say things like "This is the first time I ever understood math!"

First of all, you have to believe that you are capable of doing mathematics. You may have heard well-meaning friends or parents say "You don't have a math brain" or "You are not a math person". These are counterproductive thoughts. In fact, anyone can learn mathematics. If you adopt a positive attitude and make good use of your study time, you can make great strides!
