About Elisa
Hello!

I love to teach and I have devoted my life to obtaining the highest music education possible. Learning to play an instrument is fun but it is also challenging. My lessons consist of technique and general music training that include aural skills and music theory. My lessons are a lot of fun because I have high standards, but also maintain a light hearted atmosphere. I teach violin and viola from beginning to advanced levels. My students have ranged in age from 3 to 65 years old and I feel that I can teach students at any age.

If you want to include learning to play the viol
in or viola in your life then I would be a great choice for a teacher. Thank you. Elisa

Elisa is a great teacher! She is sooooo talented! She was teaching violin to my 8 year old daughter in Ventura CA. She is very kind and patient with kids. We highly recommend her for teaching. We wish she could stay longer. Miss her.

My daughter started taking violin lessons with Elisa in January of 2014. She is by far the best music teacher that we've had! Elisa is very challenging but makes learning and playing fun. My 8 year old daughter has made leaps and bounds in music and can now read music after only a short 8 months of playing. My daughters bow hold and tone quality are absolutely excellent and it's because of Elisa! I would definitely recommend her as a teacher. You will not be disappointed.

Elisa is a very responsible, skillful, and sweet teacher

Before Elisa moved to Ventura, CA, she was a master student and taught in IP piano school and Kwong Kow Chinese School in Boston, MA. My daughter, Sarina, was one of her students. My daughter loves her so much and made good progress when Elisa was teaching her. Elisa made Sarina relax and comfortable so that she was enjoying the learning process; she emphasized on skill and poses, she tried hard to help the students to get to the best they could. She is reliable as you can talk with her about the timing change and make up lessions. She came to our house to say goodbye and hug Sarina before she left. She is a great teacher that you can count on and you will enjoy her teaching.

Math is great because there's always one specific answer! My goal with students is to help them understand the path from a problem to its solution. Math is a tool to help develop reasoning and solution seeking skills.

The unique thing that sets me apart as a tutor in any subject is that I first work with the student, and I gently guide them to find the answer on their own.

About Joshua
I am a tutor who earned a music teaching degree, substitute taught, and didn't become a school teacher. I held professional tech retail jobs and am supplementing my life with my passion - education.

Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I celebrate students' successes; and I enjoy helping learners have new aha moments.

The majority of my students take guitar, bass guitar, or Spanish lessons. I am an educator and help my students learn other skills and knowledge sets too.

I went to Ohio State University for college, earned a BA in Music Education, and graduated Cum Laude. I also spen
t 4 years in the Ohio State University Marching Band.

Through my healing journey, I've developed patience, insight, and understanding for my students' learning processes.

I'm excited to help you incorporate new skills into your life!

Our son first time playing bassoon. Base on my son experience, he find Joshua to be very nice, patients, and explains a lot of information. It help him understand about the instrument and the sound when he play. He do have a sense of humor which help my son to have fun and be more comfortable. He also teaches other instruments, too. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!

In search of helping our 10 year old son build some self-confidence we sought out clarinet lessons this summer. He started playing in school last year, and it was something our reluctant son liked "enough" to want to build up some competency. Joshua has been amazing! He finds just the right amount of challenge to encourage my son to practice, but not get discouraged. My son looks forward to his lesson each week and told me that he isn't even sure he wants to switch to saxophone next year because he is having so much fun playing the clarinet. Joshua is amazing with children, and has spent time getting to know our kiddo and find out what will work best for him. Patient, calm, and inspiring--very talented instructor.

If you're stuck on concepts or just feeling totally overwhelmed by math in general, let's work together to find a way for these concepts to make sense and feel relevant for YOU. Once they click, they click, and I think you'll find that understanding and solidifying some foundational concepts will make the rest of your coursework much more manageable.

About Julie
GENERAL: I enjoy getting to know my students and their specific interests and quirks, and incorporating those into lessons to help folks better connect with and get excited about the material. I specialize in confidence-building and will be with you every step of the way as you not only gain skills, but perhaps face and overcome some emotional barriers or frustrations. I like to make lessons playful, fun, and relevant to how you want to use these tools in the world.

SINGING AND MUSIC LESSONS: In addition to providing technical training, I believe that singing is about liberation and exp
ression, and have had successes in helping students to find their unique voices through overcoming vocal anxieties. I both work with students who are preparing for auditions and who play in professional bands, and also with students who have only ever sung in the shower and just want to get more comfortable using their own voice for fun. I also specialize in teaching music theory (including how to read music, rhythm practice, and harmony), playing an instrument and singing at the same time, and songwriting coaching. I degree in music from Brown University, have been a professional, performing musician for 12 years, and have been teaching private lessons and classes for 8 years.

For those in bands: I specialize in harmony and can do consultation sessions with you and/or your band to help with blending, finding harmonies that work for your respective vocal ranges and for the flow of the song, and teaching skills for finding and building harmonies.

MATH: As a middle and high school student, I didn't believe I was "good" at math. It wasn't until I was an adult and was hired as a math tutor - and later promoted to Assistant Director - of a tutoring company that I realized that was a belief that had held me back. Many kids and young adults struggle with confidence around math, and having had experience with that myself I use tools that help meet students where they're at and support them in building enthusiasm for math and confidence in themselves. In addition to providing tangible math skills (I have not only been tutoring Algebra, Geometry, SAT prep, elementary and middle school math for 5 years, but have also helped run a math tutoring company in which I built year-long curricula for grades K-12), I help students feel that math is within their grasp and can be approached with curiosity rather than fear and low self-esteem.

I had no idea when we signed up for SAT prep lessons with Julie, the level of help we would get. Julie went so far above and beyond what you would expect a tutor to do. During the lessons, she was always incredibly encouraging and focused. She explained things in a way that just made more sense. And then in between lessons, she sent problems like the ones we had trouble with to help solidify what was learned. She sent links to other sample problems and communicated regularly about the progress being made. I couldn’t rave enough about Julie!

It was such a pleasure working with Julie! I'd never taken a singing lesson before and Julie made me feel super comfortable. She encouraged me to keep trying when I felt like I was messing up, gave me tips and tricks that worked for me, and also kept it fun! :)

I was taught the traditional Math techniques but I am able to teach the new method COMMON CORE. I have been teaching all Math concepts to colleagues and students for 10+ years. It is with great joy I utilize things such as marbles to help with certain concepts as well. As someone who has helped others with Math concepts they have continued to pass the course and went on to other advanced Math courses with the new found confidence and understanding. This goes for elementary level high school level students as well as college level.

About Priscilla
It is with great pleasure I introduce myself Priscilla. I am willing to help any and all students with concepts, methods and ways to enrich your learning journey. I have been a tutor for many subjects from Chemistry, advanced Biology and many other subjects. Teaching has been one of my strong abilities. I have taught many of my fellow colleagues and students while working as a tutor. My goal is to aid the student in understanding complex ideas and make them simple for anyone to understand. I have worked with special needs adults in a classroom setting of about 20 and helped them with spelling,
grammar and math skills. I would do individual lesson planning based on their capabilities and make it fun.

My passion is seeing a student or anyone I am explaining a concept to have the face light up when they understood the idea. This is so much better then any compensation I can ever receive. I look forward to have you allow me to teach you.

Priscilla was one of the best teachers my kids ever had. She was patiant and held high standards for them all while keeping the work light and entertaining. My kids ages 4, and 5) saw a new light in learning new things and learned to actually read within a week worth of her services. Her dedication, strategies, and bright ideas are something that you wouldnt regret exposing to your children. Take my word for it and hire this woman 😃

It's not easy to get a tutor that has patience and understanding. Prissila would travel to my home and stay extra hours of tutoring for me if I needed. She is truly a dedicated individual. I would recommend her to the best because she is the best as well.

I have worked with students from elementary grades all the way up to high school as a tutor and I've worked at both the high school and middle school levels as a teacher. However, if your goal is overall improvement in an area, then I will give you assessments that allow me to precisely identify any areas of weakness or challenge for us to focus on!

Academically, I have two BAs in literature (one in English and one in German literature). I also have a MA in secondary mathematics education and have completed 46 graduate credit hours in special ...
