Stephen has been giving our teenager daughter weekly lessons in "J-pop" dancing. Even though his background does not include this particular style, he has done a great job of staying ahead of our daughter, and-even more importantly-encouraging and motivating her to keep at it. (Since dancing is one of the few exercises she will do willingly, this is key!) She looks forward to the weekly lesson and so do we.

I offer one on one creative movement lessons.

About Janelle
Hello! My name is Janelle L. and I am a Manhattanville College graduate with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a BA in Psychology. As a performer I have appeared in the Off- Broadway productions ANTIGONE and TWELTH NIGHT with Love Creek Theater Company, SHOUT The Mod Musical and SHOWTUNE with direction by Mark Cherry, The Off-Broadway production oF THE EXTRAORDINARY FALL OF THE FOUR LEGGED WOMAN and a solo cabaret at The Metropolitan Room. I currently teach Voice, Piano, Violin, and Cello at The New Windsor School of Music and The Rock Underground of Greenwood Lake. I have learned some of my best lessons from being a performer and try to give my students more than technical knowledge; i.e. breathing from the diaphragm, not using tension to control breath, aiming over the soft pallet, etc., but also acting and performance knowledge; like learn
ing to work with your nerves before a number and thinking about why the character is singing instead of saying the lyrics. I have been teaching since I was 16; from students ranging from 5 years old to 47 and have learned to adapt my curriculum to each student while making sure they develop a good repertoire and technique. For educational purposes I follow exercises and drills from a range of books including Vocal Strength and Power by Dena Murray, Speak with Distinction by Edith Skinner, Acting Songs by David Brunetti, and Voice and The Alexander Technique by Jane Ruby Heirich. I can perform basic accompanying parts and can also transpose music.

a sample of how my voice lessons are run is below. Each student with leave with a basic knowledge of solfage, a musical scale, and multiple genres of songs.

Today what's the first lesson for my two girls with Carolyn. All I can say but the lesson was absolutely amazing my girls came out extremely inspired with lots of exciting homework to do they couldn't wait to show me what they've learned and couldn't wait to start practicing Carolyn was everything we were hoping for and a lot more. I have no doubts that would have made the best choice who could possibly make. My girls can't wait for their next lesson.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏

I have been teaching hip hop classes for over 10 years. In my class you will learn the foundations of dance and how to understand musicality in order to translate it into movement. My main objective is to have a fun time with you while we work on your dance moves and your confidence. The class can be customized depending on your goal: learning routines, fitness or dancing in heels. All levels and ages are welcome!

About Nina
I am a professional dancer from Switzerland. I started dancing at the age of 12 and started teaching my first hip hop classes at the age of 18. I have opened showes for R’n’B singers Genuwine, Mario Winans and Rapper Erick Sermon. I have performed in many showes for other choreographers and appeared in different music videos.
Teaching private dance classes is the best way to respond to every student’s individual needs and immediately see the results and improvements.
I love dance because it gives me a way to express my emotions and it gives me confidence to be in control of my body in a way that only dance can make me feel. Dance also is a way of making music visual which is a wonderful form of art. And of course...it is so much fun!
