Let me start off by saying that math is my FAVORITE subject! In these tutoring sessions, you will receive help with homework, prepare for tests and quizzes, and better your overall understanding of math. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good work ethic.
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I hope to help you achieve your goals and improve your skills, whether you're looking for music lessons, or help in math. Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to their individual needs. Each of my students prosper in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career, and the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of knowledge that will enrich their lives.
I received my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the University of Redlands in 2011 (which I attended on a music talent scholarship), and am now an active performer in Los Angeles, CA. I have been tutoring and teaching privat
e lessons for almost 10 years, and currently have over 40 active students.
I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Seussical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, and I could never live without it!
With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life they will achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!
Includes study of all aspects of geometry: plane, solid, coordinate, and the like.

*** Lesson Details *** Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment *** None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties *** Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.
*** CD's*** Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501 Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014 Epiphanies1, The Halford Company
I taught Math at CPS and in the North Suburbs of Chicago. I believe, my strengths are patience and the ability to explain material in a clear, simple way.
I taught Algebra I and Geometry at Clemente High School in Chicago and AP Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry at Libertyville High School Summer Program. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a private school in Buffalo Grove, IL. I love tutoring students of any age, from elementary to high school. It makes me happy when I see the progress they are making. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instructions from Loyola University, Chicago. At one point in my life I wanted to be a pharmacist, but when I became a teacher, I realized that that is what I was meant to be. I love helping people. I see how much difference it makes in a student's life when he or she starts to feel confident in Math class, starts to get high scores, starts to dream big. Math opens the doors to a better future, to a better career, to a higher s
elf-esteem. I am grateful for the opportunity to help to make it happen.
My daughter was doing well but short of excelling in math. I sent her to Julia for that extra push and confidence that she needed. She really helped her have confidence and made her thorough with her concepts. She been doing really great ever since!

Julia is a highly knowledgeable, professional and personable teacher. My son has been tutored by her since the age of 4 and is now 13. His MAP and PARCC scores are off the charts and he just received his placements for Stevenson High School with the recommendations for the highest math classes offered to incoming freshmen. Julia taught him to love and be passionate about mathematics. Her primary goal is to make sure that the students learn in a stress-free environment and with that strategy she is able to accomplish brilliant results. I recommend Julia highly. She is very approachable and patient, loves children and loves what she does.
I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation in geometry. I possess the necessary competence to better your overall understanding of geometry, prepare for quizzes and tests and help you with homework.

I love Junia's teaching style, she is very thorough and helps you understand why you are doing and saying what! I have learned so much during the few online live classes that I have taken with her. I've tried other instructors as well but her sessions are best for me! You can tell she has the heart and passion for truly helping others succeed. She motivates me to do better!
I have passion towards teaching geometry, since I am an engineer, geometry is pretty simply
Hindi being a National Language Of India. Most of the parents in the USA are willing to make their children Hindi literate along with communication. I take the privilege to help them to reach their goal. As Hindi is a foreign language, it will certainly help high schoolers to raise their credits.
Hindi is taught from the basics 1)Vowels and consonants 2) bharakhadi 3) samyukta vyanjan 4) simple words and sentences 5) with in 6 classes students will be able to read and write simple words and sentences 6) then first grade CBSE textbook will be started, by giving word meanings followed by question and answer, fill in the blanks 7) after the completion of portions upto 25 marks, one work sheet the same pattern of test paper will be given followed by the test 8) after 4 tests one annual exam for 100 marks will be conducted. All your s
cores will be registered 9) Hindi Grammar will be taught as and when needed 10) all communication will be purely in Hindi 11) textbooks are available upto 5 grade
Ashwini assumed that I was married upon meeting her, and asked me when I was getting married as soon as she learned I wasn't married. She also asked where I was getting married, even though at the time I wasn't engaged. Even when I made it apparent I wasn't engaged, she continued to refer to my boyfriend as my fiance.
She would send me political things going on in India, even though I have no interest, and it has nothing to do with the lessons I was taking from her. She asked me if my boyfriend was voting, and many personal things that shouldn't be asked of a student learning Hindi.
She often moved my scheduled time around without asking, which meant that I needed to move my schedule around in order to attend her sessions.
As a teacher she was pretty good, but some things disappointed me there too. For instance, I made a sentence in which a jeweler was a woman, and she stated that can't be correct, because there are no woman jewelers. I'm a woman engineer, and it's really sad to see such a sexist thing. Even when I attempted to ask about how you would say something about a woman jeweler, she said it was impossible. Later she said nurses could only be woman.
I have been tutoring geomertry for over 5 years. During that time, I have helped students achieve the results that they were looking for. One student in particular was attending a private school wanted me to help him get ready for his test in geometry. I talked with his fatther and we arranged lessons at a library. During that time, we went over the concepts and practiced until he understood them. When it was time for him to take the final, he passed it and ultimately passed the class. His father was very grateful.
I am a graduate of Alabama State University and have a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics. I have years of experience helping students in the ASU mathematics lab. I also have experience tutoring high school students as part of the ASPIRE Mentoring Program and I have tutored elementary and middle school students as well. Topics that I have tutored include basic math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and calculus.
While tutoring at ASU, I have modified my tutoring style to provide better service. What happens is that during the first few sessions, I get to know each person and some things about the course that they are taking such as the syllabus content, the type of grade the person wants in the course, the number of points each assignment is worth, and the date of the next major test. I then try to hold tutoring sessions in accordance w
ith this information. During a session, I go over homework, explain concepts that may be misunderstood, go over topics that I think are especially important, and sometimes give practice problems. I do a lot of visual explanations for concepts. Periodically, I would ask about the grade that was made on a recent test and modify my tutoring style if necessary. My goal is to help everyone that I tutor strengthen their mathematical skills.
Usually, I tutor by appointment and each session usually lasts for about 1 hour. In order to reschedule or cancel an appointment, I request a 24-hour notice. I am willing to meet in a public place or online.
I also make videos that cover math concepts in order to make it a little easier for students to get the information that they need to be successful. If you would like for me to make a video, please let me know!
With over 8 years experience in tutoring, I have learned what methods work and those that don’t. I’m upbeat, patient, easy going, empathetic, and generally well-liked by others. I’m very good at adapting to different learning styles and have a knack for eliciting the best out of my students through motivation and positive reinforcement.
Throughout university, and after, I mentored many students with great results. In addition to academics I helped them get the most out of their college experience. Everyone I helped benefited greatly, and one runs a very successful consulting business.
I scored in the 75th percentile for the geometry section of the Golden State Exam--test given to AP and honors students in California.
Aside from math and English, I’m a very proficient test and note taker. I speak conversational Spanish, and basic Japanese.
Whether you're completely lost, just need a little help, or need some test/note taking tips I can be very helpful. My patient, easy going, and positive mindset is very conducive to creating a great learning atmosphere. I can also be very useful to those that aren't motivated, I have a knack for finding the source of motivation for others.
Are you frustrated with the college application process? I can assist in this area and in aclimating to college environment. I've mentored many students through college, with great success.
"Jessie was great! My son learned a lot and we will definitely use her again."
"Daniel is great. Kids like to work with him."
"Wonderful instructor, willing to repeat himself and go back a few steps to reinforce a prior example. My son was hesitant to try this and was pleasantly s
urprised at how easy it was to learn when someone is working with you one on one. :)"
"She was very nice, she made sure I understood what I was learning before we moved onto the next problem...positive attitude!! Thank you Marina"
"I asked Rod to work with my daughter on geometry to help her get ready for 9th grade. Rod explains each concept and its application very well. His lessons
are appropriate for grade level but also challenging. I am particularly happy that my daughter is learning a broader approach to problem solving and critical thinking. As a scientist (PhD in chemistry) and a mother of a teenager, I appreciate Rod’s approach as it will provide a solid foundation for my daughter’s learning for many years to come. And he is always on time and gives me an overview of what was covered and what will be covered after each lesson. I highly recommend him."
"Joanne was wonderful! Thank you!"
"My son was having a terrible time with geometry. Daniel worked with him and taught him in a way that he understood. My son brought home a B (Which I was t
hrilled with because he had been failing the class beforehand). He is wonderful!! I recommend him highly!!!"
"Great first lesson with my son, thank you!"
"Anthony is a thorough professional and devoted tutor. My teenage daughter, who is homeschooling and takes 1 or 2 intensive courses at a time, was able to
swiftly move through the geometry material with the excellent instruction and guidance of Anthony as her teacher."
