For more than 20 years as an actor and teacher, I've enjoyed Improv Acting, a free thinking art form. Students learn to use their imagination, become many different characters, and truly 'think outside the box.' Improv is loads of fun! "The actor's playground!"
I offer a fun, interactive teaching style that encompasses more than 20 years of performing and 15 years of teaching experience. As a performer I have worked as a professional singer, actor, musician, and dancer. I have always had a passion for teaching, directing, and composing. While my love for performing has lessened over the years, I have found my true calling: teaching, directing, and helping others to find their passion for music and the performing arts. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a special emphasis in music, theatre, dance, and psychology. I am a graduate candidate working on completing my thesis as my final requirement for a Masters of Arts degree in Music at San Diego State University. Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), California Association of Profession
al Music Teachers (CAPMT), and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

I have been a voice, acting, and teacher of creative arts for over 25 years. My background includes ten years of classical voice training with Maestro Julio Berrocal, as well as vocal training through the Feldenkrais approach with Marcy Lindhiemer. In acting, I have studied with renowned Stanislavsky scholar Sonia Moore and Master acting teacher of the Strasberg Method, Marcia Haufrecht. I received a B.A. For comparative literature and creative writing at the State University of New York at Purchase and have recently completed my Master's degree in social work at Walden University. I believe, within all of us, Is the ability to express something distinctive and original. I work to help students discover their unique voice, whether it be through singing, acting, or writing. I share with my students an array of tools to gain the ability
and confidence to achieve their goals. I empathize deeply with the challenges students may face when pursuing a life in the creative and performing arts, having worked professionally in those areas for most of my adult life. I believe it is the teacher's job to respect each student's individual process of learning. My students have gone on to become recording artists, Broadway performers, movie actors, Blues and cabaret artists, and published writers.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice I am an empathetic teacher, sensitive to the student's individual process of learning. My singing lessons usually start with breathing and relaxation exercises. Vocal technique exercises come next. When the student is fully warmed up, we will begin to work on songs. It is important that students be a part of the process of picking material since the more personally they respond to the material the more apt they are to become engaged in their lessons. After three to six months beginning students will have gained an understanding of the fundamentals of breathing, relaxation, and basic performance skills. With more advanced students the focus will be on range extension and the on-going development of vocal style through song interpretation and performance related exercises. Acting As an acting teacher and coach, I tailor my classes to the needs of each student. I utilize improvisatory and sensory techniques to help unleash spontaneity. I also encourage the students to use their personal experiences as a way to access a full range of emotions. I enjoy working with the student on script analysis, so as to discover the underlying motivations of the character the student is working on. Creative and Lyric Writing I use prompts as a way to get the student writing. Often, I will ask the student to write for stretches of time without editing themselves. It is important to unleash imagination before beginning the process of editing. Many times it is the unexpected that is the most compelling.
*** Studio Equipment *** home- 10 minutes away from Manhattan with piano, seating for parents -practice studio seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment *** I provide a piano, cd/mp3 player and an large library of songbooks to work from. The student should bring sheet music of songs they want to work on and a recording device.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching how to sing rock, pop, musical theater, jazz, cabaret, and blues without hurting the voice as well as method acting instruction.
A very good first lesson. We went over breathing exercises and scales. Also had time for Amy to critique my speaking style through a portion of a speech I will be giving in a month. Time well-spent.
She briefly went over the next lesson plan and gave me a little homework to do as well.
I got a lot out of this lesson and I can see how this will help me accomplish my goal of being a better public speaker and having a more controlled and stronger voice.
Looking forward to future lessons.

Patient. Gifted Teacher!

Amy is absolutely incredible. She showed keen interest in my concerns and challenges. She listened and knew exactly what I needed to do to get to where I want to be. She makes it easy for me to understand and she is truly a great coach. I can’t wait to see her again.
I have completed the Players Workshop of Second City six part course twice and performed in their graduation show twice as well. I write comedy for my own purposes and study comedy almost constantly. However improv. for the actor can be an entirely different process and is based mainly on finding your character via various exercises. Open mid required!
I have always been an actor first, it is the craft and discipline in which I hold my advanced degrees; it is my first and eternal love. There really isn't much more one could add to such a claim. Simultaneously I have believed a teacher is born, not bred; and I was born to be in theatre, and now, with a few years behind me; I'm ready to pass on what I have learned. At the risk of tooting my own horn; I am well trained, professionally, both as an actor and a teacher with more than a few credentials to support those claims. I invite you to please peruse my background on the site and feel free to ask any questions you desire.
Regarding Texas Hold 'em (poker), I have been playing and teaching the game, and working for online casinos for over thirty years. My approach is simple, requires extreme discipline, but I can show you how to win mo
re than you lose. And this is true of all subjects I teach whether literal or figurative.
My undergraduate Bachelors is in Acting & Directing I was taught by the same professors who launched the students that formed the now famous Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago (Illinois State University); I also have a Masters degree in Theatre History and Criticism (Theatrical Critical Theory). I have teaching experience both as a GA and in the private sector. I have been exposed to many different types of teaching styles and locales, (i.e. classroom, studio et.al). I hope that gives you a thumbnail concurrently I hope I didn't bore you to death.
Randy is a first rate coach. He is knowledgeable, experienced, and with an easy going natural style. Was very adaptable to my level of experience and was patient - no question was too dumb. I highly recommend him without any reservation. I have already booked my next session.
Prepping an audition for an upcoming show or for admission into an acting program? Want to hone and develop your audition monologues (especially Shakespeare)? Just need a coach to help you take your acting to another level? Then let's get started, online or in person. I can help.
I've been working as a professional actor in the theatre and on-camera for over 25 years. I've performed with the Shakespeare Theatre in DC, ACT Theatre in Seattle, Book-It Repertory, Seattle Shakespeare Company, and Shakespeare Santa Cruz to name a few. I've also been the featured voice in voiceovers for companies like University of Washington Medical, Golden 1 State Credit Union, Microsoft, and Surface Pro 3. On Camera Credits include short films, industrials, and commercials for Taco Time, Tulalip Casino, and Washington Dental Association.

I've been performing roles in the theatre and on-camera for over 25 years. My BFA in Acting and Directing and my MFA in Classical Acting have afforded me a wide variety of tools and skills to employ in the craft of acting. Performing with professional repertory companies like ACT Theatre, Book-It Repertory, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and the Shakespeare Theatre in DC, I've gained personal knowledge of the art, craft, and business of being a working actor, which I will put to work for you, in a personalized one-on-one coaching session, either online or in person.
Here's how I can help.
SCENE WORK AND MONOLOGUES: Whether it's dusting off and refreshing monologues you've performed more times than you can count, or developing pieces or scenes for the first time for an upcoming stage or on-camera audition, we can break the material down togethe
r, work on the clarity of your choices and active objectives, and access your personal connection to the material so you'll be ready and confident with a one-of-a-kind performance that reflects the strengths you bring to acting and the story you want to tell.
SHAKESPEARE: Perhaps the most daunting of styles for a contemporary actor, we'll get down to the nuts and bolts of some of the most challenging (and rewarding) material. The famous soliloquies are famous for a reason and can certainly be intimidating, and more obscure material can seem thick and inaccessible. We'll chip away at the mystique of Shakespeare by digging in to the text and verse, activating the language with specificity, and cultivating your personal take on well-known characters or lesser known material they might not have seen before.
DIALECTS AND ACCENTS: From English to Irish to Southern American and beyond, a well executed dialect can be the edge you need to land (and play) that meaty role. I use a multipronged approach that involves ear training to develop an authentic sound, text analysis for clarity of sound substitutions (IPA Proficient), and exercises that pare away stilted and unnatural speech to cultivate an authentic sounding voice that will be your own.
VOICEOVER: I've been booking voiceover gigs on TV, radio, and the internet for over 10 years with clients like Microsoft, Liberty Mutual, UW Medicine, Tableau, Reno Toyota, and Golden One State Credit Union. I can offer tips and tricks of the trade, as well as techniques that can take your VO submissions to the next level and help you book these lucrative contracts.
Jason has been an amazing coach for my incredibly active animated son. He is great at redirecting my boy when he has trouble focusing and provides immediate feedback to help my son make progress. We live in a remote area where actives like this are not offered. We feel blessed that we were able to make a connection with Jason and for his patients with our rural island family. Jason it a true professional and communicates beautifully with me. I am looking forward to continuing lessons for my son!

Jason previously worked with my teenage daughter and they made vast improvements in her acting skills and college audition. She was accepted into AMDA. Now he is working with my older daughter to help her get ready to audition at UW and get a working reel together. He is fantastic and really good with any learning differences or styles that might come up.
I pioneered a private Arts Academy drama school for 4 years, and am now teaching acting and directing at a middle and high school. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.
Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy. My husband also owns Sound waves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.
I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).
I am super excited to be building a private and small group lesson platform at our home studio and to meet your personal acting needs! I recently stepped down from 2 years of full time drama and art at Lumos Arts Academy- a private school I played a role in pioneering- to focus on building up passionate individuals who are serious about thriving in the performing world.
I also created a Theater and Film Program at Experience Arts School where students ages 5- adult could take classes (group or private) or join an acting company for regular performance gigs. I directed multiple musicals during this time. My company competed with the AZ Thespians and took home many superior scores.
Personally, I have been acting for 25 years in the Mid and Southwest, studied theater at UWOshkosh, Film at Scottsdale CC, improv with iO i
n Chicago, and Meisner with The renowned Kevin Phipps. I was part of a musical repertory company based in Utah for 8 months, traveled around the Phoenix valley performing in 8 different dinner theaters for 8 years, and have produced and directed multiple professional music videos for Soundwaves Productions in Gilbert.
I believe that each actor learns differently, and the best way is to become well-rounded in your training to discover what works best for you. I have become very well trained in identifying strengths and weaknesses in actors, and will work with you on the best technique to suit your needs and style.
Classes I have created curriculum for/taught include: Monologues Auditioning for theater and film Script Analysis Beginning- Advanced Improv Beginning- Advanced Scene Acting Uta Hagen's Repertoire Acting for Film Voice and Diction Music Video Creation Musical Theater Acting/Dance
My daughter raves about her lessons with Rebecca. She gets in the car and is always so excited to tell me what she did or learned, and when she practices I can see things click and improve. It’s so refreshing to see her passion and satisfaction in the learning process. Clearly she has a gift for teaching and inspiring teenagers, because I never see Anna work this hard. Thank you for all you do!
August 29, 2019
Rebecca is kind, instructive, and helpful. She Has helped me improve my acting as well as set up a demo reel that I'm thrilled with.
August 27, 2019
I enjoy my class every time I go. Rebecca is a fun teacher, even though she keeps me focused. We are always thinking outside the box on how to make class better for me personally. I like that she is flexible and cares about how I learn. One of the things I appreciate most is that she points out what I do well and what I should improve in, whereas some of my teachers in the past only focus on one or the other.

First off, I have to say that Ms. Niki is an amazing person. Extremely patient, understanding, and still gets the job DONE. She did my makeup for my headshots and really showed me how to bring out my natural beauty. Awesome teacher, makeup artist, and person. ❤️
"Christine pays attention to the needs and level of understanding of each student. The ways she has taken time to instruct me, have not only taken me to an
other level, but then she'll turn around and explain it to the class, taking us all to another level as a group. She does in one class what some instructors I've had in NYC couldn't do in a month. She's patient and a great listener, which helps make her instruction so clear and incredibly effective. Including classes I've taken in LA, NYC, Indiana and Florida, Christine Alexander is easily the best Improv instructor I've ever had."
"Christine has the unique ability to combine great teaching with a lot of laughter and fun. She allows her students to feel completely comfortable to say
and do anything that comes to mind, for that is what improve is all about: staying in the moment. Her exercises to mold that "improv state of mind" are fantastic and opens you up find humor in just about anything. Her classes not only shaped me into being able to feel comfortable in front of an audience, her teaching has shaped me into not taking things happening in my own life sooooo seriously. Thank you, Christine, for helping me in so many areas of my life, all lthrough your sense of humor and excellent teaching skills."
"My daughter is brand new to acting. She was really nervous for her first lesson. Once she got started, all of that nervousness melted away and she had a b
last. After her lesson, she just had to tell me all about it and how much fun she had. Heather rocks!"
"LK is very knowledgeable and helpful. She didn't mind that I had no experience at all!"
"David is such a supportive, knowledgeable, and fun teacher! His improv lessons are enriching my life and career in major ways by helping me access my powe
r and leave my petty worries and self-consciousness behind. I highly recommended him!"
"Patient, kind and talented . Highly recommended !"
"Participated in an improv class with Christine a few years ago. Not only was it great fun but made me feel as though I actually had a tiny bit of a goft f
or it which has proved useful to me when I give talks in the area. As a journalist and author I do a lot of talks and that improv class has proved very valuable and it was educational too."
"Christine communicates a well as anyone I've ever worked with. Great sense of humor, knows her stuff, and knows how to get it across to her students. She
involves herself constantly in continuing education, so that she always represents a work in constant progress, rather than resting on her laurels and remaining static. I recommend her highly to anyone looking for a great teacher and coach.
She's the best."
"This teacher has to be the best one I have ever had. Be sure to check her out."
