Mrs. Jen has been a violin teacher for our daughter for 3.5 years. She is an extremely qualified and talented musician who deeply cares about her students and is committed to teaching. She is kind and patient, but also effective and motivating. When our 8 year old daughter learned Mrs. Jen was moving she said, "I probably will never have as neat or special of a violin teacher as Mrs. Jen"- and she's right!

First lesson was fine. We took a few minutes to find each other in a cafe setting but as it was also a meet and greet session I wasn't too concerned about time. As it turns out Beth more than made up the time. She's very pleasant and easy to speak with. We went over my goals, simple traveler type words, phrases and questions, and a work schedule to cover the next several weeks. Beth told me how she was going to approach teaching me after listening to my goals. I'm looking forward to the next session where we can focus on learning the language.

Awful. I had 33 questions and she only helped me with 2. She kept saying that if you solved it and you got that answer then maybe it be fineasier. I was the only one who was talking as if I were the tutor.

I have always been fascinated with mathematics and all of it's related branches. As a chemical engineer major with over four years of tutoring, I have both the expertise and experience to teach anyone mathematics in a fun and interactive learning environment. I can explain complex concepts using easy-to-understand terms and relevant examples. My goal is to connect students with foundational knowledge and problem solving methods so that they can tackle any math problem by themselves. I believe that having a strong core in mathematics will not only increase a student's grades but will also boost their confidence, motivation, and interest in the subject as well.

About Ariel
Hey! I am an experienced mathematics and physics tutor with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from UCSD. I have been tutoring privately for seven years and offer high quality sessions tailored to each individual. I am dedicated to making sure each concept is thoroughly understood through emphasizing fundamentals and explaining solutions in a step-by-step fashion. I easily connect with students and I strive to instill in them everything they need to stay motivated and reach their full potential.

With a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, I have taught basic engineering at UC-Berkeley as a graduate student. Materials Science requires strong math and algebra background. I also taught basic engineering in the Gifted Youth Program at Stanford University. I have been teaching Data Visualization online at the University of New Mexico. In this class, I pioneered the methods of using art as a visualization tool to teach students math, which I believe it can be easily applied to students at all ages.

My Tutoring Style:

I come up with a lesson plan catering for each student's need. In the first few lessons, I will introduce you the basic concepts required to the subject. In the next few lessons, you will be able to gasp the subjects by practicing example questions under my guidance. Each example question is designed to cover a certain concept introduced in the first few lessons. The ultimate goal for you is to learn the concept ...

About Linda
With a Ph.D. in materials engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, math and algebra have always been my favorite subjects at school. I scored perfectly in GRE Quantitative and a 3.9 GPA in college math classes (calculus 1, 2, 3. Linear Algebra, Calculus AB, BC, Statistics).

With more than 10 years experiences (Online and face-to-face combined) in classroom teaching engineering, science, and art, I have been tutoring various math topics (from Middle School to College Calculus) online since 2015. I well organized and enjoy breaking down complex math problem into simple terms.
I enjoy working with students one-on-one,I find that when I have a chance to zero in on and accommodate students' individual needs and learning style, the experience becomes more productive and enjoyable for everyone involved.

I have a passion fo
r math. For me, tutoring math, is not only helping students to excel in standardized tests, or gain good grade in a class, but also teaching students who want to learn math, the rule that governs our world, at an extremely thorough, in-depth level.

My Tutoring Style:

I come up with a lesson plan catering for each student's needs. In the first few lessons, I will introduce you the basic concepts required to the subject. In the next few lessons, you will be able to gasp the subjects by practicing example questions under my guidance. Each example question is designed to cover a certain concept introduced in the first few lessons. The ultimate goal for you is to learn the concept that you can use it freely at anytime as it becomes your second nature.

I have always been struggling with the quantitative section in SSAT, and I could never grasp the meaning the questions. Linda had helped me understand what I'm better at and worked with me to improve on the things I struggle with. I even learned a few new strategies and how to tackle difficult questions. I would recommend her to the people that are struggling with anything related to math.

I have a doctoral degree and 30 years of teaching experience in mathematics at public and private colleges. I have also done much one-on-one tutoring and curriculum planning. I am now retired.

I can help you learn arithmetic, algebra, finite math, trigonometry, or any other area of mathematics from primary or secondary school, or beginning college math. I have heard my students say things like "This is the first time I ever understood math!"

First of all, you have to believe that you are capable of doing mathematics. You may have heard well-meaning friends or parents say "You don't have a math brain" or "You are not a math person". These are counterproductive thoughts. In fact, anyone can learn mathematics. If you adopt a positive attitude and make good use of your study time, you can make great strides!

Just like any other research scientist I remember my high school years where I fell in love with literature, history, and philosophy... wait, what? As much as that may sound like a joke, that is my story. I started college with the desire to study the humanities, and ended up falling in love with math, science, and engineering. Today, I am 3rd year PhD student studying Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the University of Pennsylvania. I believe it is my unique past that allows me to connect with vast range of students with different passions and to present math topics in a way that is not only different from what many students may have experienced before, but in a way that is interesting, relevant, and most of all, fun. In addition to achieving greater success in the classroom, my goal for every one of my students is for them to walk away from my lessons with, if not a complete love for, at least a token appreciation for the elegance and beauty of mathematics.

About Armon
I am a 3rd year PhD Student studying Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the University of Pennsylvania. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Computer Engineering in 2015.

However, despite a career as a research scientist, my academic past would have suggested a much different path. In high school, I was deeply in love with history, literature, and philosophy. In fact, it was my original intention to become an English major when I went to Lehigh, but as fate would have it, the many twists and turns in my life would cause me to find new loves in mathematics, science, and engineering.

While the focus of my studies took a rather extreme turn, I never lost my interest in the humanities. As a result, I believe that this rather unique academic past, allows me as a teacher to connect with a broader range o
f students, many of whom may have completely different interests and passions than what I happen to be teaching them. Furthermore, having been exposed to how
many different types of people think about problems has taught me how to disentangle complicated topics and present material in a way that may best be understood for each particular student such that learning not only becomes painless, but fun.

It is my ultimate goal as a teacher, to not only help my students achieve greater success in the classroom and instill a greater level confidence in their abilities, but to dispel the common fear and mysticism of the STEM subjects. For them to carry on afterwards as, if not a new passionate protégées of these arts, but at least as an individual with a fundamental appreciation of their ever subtle elegance and beauty.

Armon gave me an in-depth understanding about the fundamental building blocks of MATLAB. He went into great detail about how MATLAB reads code and when we were done it was so easy to start coding. Instead of giving you the answers he helps guide you to find them for yourself. Definitely one of the best computer science teachers I've had!
