Dancing since the age of 3, I'd love to spark the passion of dance in anyone that's interested! With a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Ballet Pedagogy (the art or science of teaching) this is what I've trained to do.
I specialize in Ballet, Modern and Jazz ages 5-18 beginner to advanced students. I focus on strong foundations in technique and musicality. I am also comfortable choreographing solo work for auditions.
I started dancing at the age of 3. I am well versed in Ballet, Modern and Jazz. I attended Joffrey San Antonio (2004) and Paul Taylor New York (2010) intensives.
While in high school I taught Ballet, Jazz, Pre-Pointe and Pointe classes to dancers age 3-14.
In 2011 I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Pedagogy (which is the art or science of teaching).
Since moving to NYC 5 years ago I have been focused on performing with such dance companies as Exit 12 Dance Company (2011-2012) and Community Dance Project (2013-2014). While not dancing with specific companies I have choreographed and danced in two music videos.
I can't express my love for teaching enough! To know that I could help spark the passion of dance in a young person is extremely inspiring.
I would prefer to teach students with professional or aerobic goals. Social dancing is not one of my subjects.

I practice an Indian Classical dance form called Kuchipudi which hails from South of India. I have been teaching dance for more than 5 years now. I have done various workshops internationally and represented my dance style in various global platforms. Indian classical dance allows you to discover not only the beauty you carry physically but also let you discover the spiritual dimension of you. Each session will be a journey of catharsis. Each gesture, pose and movement you learn in a session holds a lot of spiritual or mythological significance. It is not just a physical workout, but a journey where you will learn tonnes about Indian culture, traditions, fashion and spiritual outlook. You will also learn a little Sanskrit and Telugu (south Indian language) while taking lessons with me. I am a perfectionist and very demanding but at the same time very fun. Your commitment and discipline drives my enthusiasm.
My specialty is teaching tap as a musical instrument. For me, the movement serves the sound rather than a visual effect. No matter if you're a beginning, intermediate or advanced student, you will discover the potential of the human body to help internalize musical concepts such as phrasing, form, improvisation, and self-expression, as well as gain organic access to complex musical structures. Whether your focus is on building tap dance skills, seeking to connect body and mind in a profound and musical way, or are a musician who wants to become more connected and physically involved with the groove within - you are in the right place with me. The tap steps are merely tools to access your unique voice. My tap lessons combine technique, improvisation, and combinations with mindfulness, breathing, and body awareness exercises. Find the groove that is within you!
My performance credits include Thomas Marek's show NOLA, the sound art/tap performance Homöostep, the Tap Ahead Festival, and Daniel Luka's T.A.P. My current main project is Neosole, which explores tap as a music instrument, as a full member of the rhythm section, not just soloing as a gimmick on top of the music, but being fully integrated, comping and providing a foundation for the musical context.
I have been invited to teach at renowned facilities such as tanzhaus nrw, tap club, and Rebeltanz, and to be a tap dancer in residence at Thomas Marek's Studio Footprints.
My artistic works have been featured in publications such as Average Art, The Tap Love Tour Podcast, What Moves You, and Not Random Art.
I first started tap dancing at the age of 10 under the direction of my Mom.
I consider myself a musician, and the tap shoes are my instrument. My style is deeply rooted in the aesthetic of jazz music and heavily shaped by playing in numerous jam sessions around Europe and New York City, however, my art transcends the boundaries of genres. It is merely a tool to create the most genuine and sophisticated expression possible. A catalyst to explore art as an extension of the human experience.
I call myself a tap dance musician because neither dance nor music could exist without the other. However, I don't move to look a certain way, I move to sound a certain way.

I have spent nearly my entire life deeply embedded in the Irish Dance community. I danced for over 10 years competitively and have siblings that performed in Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. My brother is an adjudicator and former teacher/owner of his own dance school. While I do not have those credentials, I can teach you the basics and connect you to great dancers.

Now, imagine yourself at a wedding, a party or even on a hot date and someone asks you to dance, show off your moves! How would you feel? Maybe you’re too shy, think you have no rhythm and you rather not embarrass yourself, in front of people.
Style Your Motion makes people feel the opposite by breaking down movements into simpler steps so that the beginner can focus on their style and rhythm. The goal we work towards with clients is being able to freestyle dance - in other words; moving to almost any song that comes on at a wedding or party. So forget all those dancers who have taken classes for years and focus on you: the person who wants to learn how to freestyle dance and of course look good doing it!
Since opening, Style Your Motion has gotten over 100 clients of which a significant amount are returning clients. They have learned the techniques needed to freestyle dance and find their style in motion. So, what is your style in motion?
As a kid, Patricia always had a passion for dance but her father who raised both her brother and her alone couldn’t afford to pay for dance lessons. She did not know where or how to begin, so she watched and imitated her brother pop locking, waving, and (as she would say) “his attempts to break dance” every chance I had. Patricia was around 10 years old when she saw her brother practicing in their living-room where there was a mirror that covered up an entire wall. Her brother would repeatedly pl
When Patricia went off to middle school, her desire to dance was still there. Her passion for hip-hop, pop lock, and freestyle dance were still in her, even though she was terrible at it at the time. Around that time you tube became about, so she started watching great dancers pop locking, breakdancing and bone breaking, to any song. Her other big inspiration was Michael Jackson, especially his Billie Jean performance, you know the one where he introduces the moonwalk for the first time and on top of that dancing alone on stage without any background dancers. Although my brother made fun of me when he caught me trying to do the wave and pop, she kept practicing and practicing. She watched herself improve little by little until her wave and pop were on point.
Looking back on my story She realized she was never good at dancing until she started practicing and watching myself in the mirror. “Anyone can dance, it’s all about looking deep inside. - Patty

Michelle is a patient knowledgeable teacher. She started me with basic dancing steps to “Panda Bear - Doin' it Right .” The basic dance steps that Michelle taught me can be used for virtually all Rock/Disco/Techno music that you will encounter. The tempos might vary, but the steps remain the same. When I became more proficient Michelle taught me line dances such as the “Macarena” and the “Cha Cha Slide.”
When I attended the Wedding reception with the Dance minor, I was confident and comfortable on the Dance floor thanks to Michelle!
