One of the methods that I use when teaching my students grammar is that I make them worksheets, with the punctuation missing, and I have them "correct" the work. Grammar, like writing, is about repetition.

About Tamar

Hi families! A bit of information about myself: I have been tutoring for over ten years and am very familiar with the public and private school systems in Manhattan. I teach everything from Algebra II to American History, specializing in organizational and study skills. I am a Columbia Univ

Tamar is a wonderful, dynamic and enthousiastic teacher and my 12 year old daughter had a great time with her.
Tamar knows when to slow down if her student is tired, but is also demanding so as to be sure that progress are made.
It was a pleasure seeing how fast my daughter improved her English and we both appreciated meeting Tamar, who is a great person :)

Using my vocal and acting training, I have worked with many students on improving their speaking voices for public speaking or voice-over work. I use Linklater , and Alexander technique combined with other training to help students overcome their fear of public speaking as well as their technical vocal issues, such as articulation, projection, breathing problems and modulating the voice in a pleasant way. I can help you overcome an overly nasally tone for example or a monotone voice.

About Wendy

I've been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003, and opened my own studio in 2008. I love helping people find their true, authentic voice, which I feel is essential not only for singers but many other people as well! Singing is a great joy, and the voice is one of our primary modes of expre

"Layla has truly been a helpful tutor. I tend to struggle in classroom environments where the teacher can't always attend to my needs with so many students, so I decided to get a tutor. Layla has experience in teaching and so I decided to give her a try. Her methods are effective and have helped my improve already in such little time. She is not only helpful during our tutoring sessions, but also maintains dialogue in-between sessions, which is also very helpful. I would strongly recommend her as a tutor. She's amazing!"

"I highly recommend Matt for his math tutoring services. I increased my OAR (Officer Aptitude Rating) score 10 points after six weeks of tutoring with Matt, making my new score very competitive. Scheduling long-distance tutoring sessions once a week was easy and the length was perfect (1.5 hours). He showed me how to visualize word problems, which is what I needed. He's personable and easy-going and I found his familiarity with military aptitude exams extremely valuable."

"My 3 daughters looked forward to Tutoring Nights with Colin!

I have 3 girls in High school (10th, 10th, and 9th) . they had been struggling in math since I can remember. I didn't think I could afford tutoring. They each had an 'F' in math.

I found Colin, and what a blessing! In just THREE short weeks Colin had my girls understanding HIS lessons, their CLASSROOM lessons and PASSING their exams! They brought their grades up too!

The best thing I can compare his tutoring to is: an adult teaching a kid to ride a bike...
He didn't expect them to just ride a bike. he took the proper steps and taught my girls about the bike parts, the way the bike functions, how they all work together, how to properly sit and pedal, and he even held them up until they understood it completely and eventually were able to ride the bike on their own.

Thank you Colin! for putting my girls back on track with math!"
