During the last 10 years of tutoring students of all ages, I have made a shocking discovery: few teachers in the modern world truly know how to teach writing, especially essays. Many adults struggle to draft essays because they have been misled with the cumbersome “five-paragraph essay structure.” In the words of C.S. Lewis, people are taught how to write essays all their school years, but in the end, “no one wants to read the essays.” That’s where I step in and save the day.

As a professional writer and editor, I have revised countless essays. I walk students through the writing process, one step at a step, and correct or clarify any missteps as needed. They work on their brainstorming, outlining, introduction, thesis, support, conclusion, and finally, self-editing skills. I promote critical thinking and apply this to essay writing so students understand how to organize and develop their own reasoning. I dissect paragraphs for them so they know how to compose a strong, logical ...

For over 10 years, my goal as a tutor has been steadfast: I want to help you help yourself. I know from my own experience how hard it is to learn any subject and how much harder it is to find the right teacher. My son has been working with Natalie on SAT practice tests, mainly on the English portion of the SAT. Her style of teaching is to help him thinking through the problems and the ways to tackle them. So at the end of the day, my son is learning the tools to solve a problem/answer a question correctly. When he is doing the tests himself, Natalie’s approach is stuck with him. Overall, his time in Natalie’s class has been well spent. I am also glad to see that with all these remote learning at his school, he is able to get one-on-one attention every week to truly learn something and get him prepared for SAT.

My 14 year old daughter worked with Natalie weekly over a 2 month period to prep for the SSAT and HSPT. She did a fabulous job helping my daughter prepare; she was super knowledgeable, patient, and supportive. My daughter has so much confidence going into her tests, thanks to Natalie. We highly recommend her!!!

Alex has inspired my son to love playing music for the rest of his life. I can't think of a more wonderful gift. His technique in teaching allowed my son to enjoy learning guitar by playing songs he wanted to play. This made him want to practice just for the fun of it! Alex taught my son from the time he was 9 years old until he was 15. The easy going, positive attitude Alex exudes encouraged my son along his journey and made a strong bond and connection between the two of them. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who would like to learn to play guitar to sign up for lessons with Alex!
Christopher
Alex is a superb teacher and is very patient and well schooled. I look forward to my lessons every Friday.
Krystal
Alex is incredibly knowledgeable and great with students off every age group! I took lessons from him for five years and my only regrets were not having more time to practice so I could get more out of my lesson times.
During lessons we worked on sight reading, ear training, memorizing chords and scales, different picking and strumming patterns, theory lessons, and anything else that I discovered and wanted to try.
