I wasn't Tom's student per se but he and I went over lots of material for our various cover bands and he's a very thorough, patient teacher, very adamant about getting parts exactly right but willing to listen to occasional disagreements. highly recommended!

my experience

Tom really knows his way around a bass. Each time I go for a lesson, i leave happy about the things we've accomplished in the lesson. Anything that i would like to learn Tom makes it possible for me to do so. I started getting lessons in order to not slow down on my playing. With my schedule constantly changing Tom has been very nice at accommodating when possible.

Mrs. Bonnie worked with my children for the past 1 1/2 years and I know it helped them out considerably! Their grades improved and her ideas help them in their testing. She would be a great asset to any young children or anybody looking for knowledge.

About Annika
My first tutoring experience took place in first grade when I was asked to assist a newly arrived Vietnamese girl with her English. I myself had learned English when I first came to the United States at three years of age and could relate well to some of the issues the newcomer was facing.

A true global nomad, I have lived in Germany, the U.S., Mexico and Russia and have traveled extensively. Starting with English and German, and eventually Spanish, French and Russian, I have been instructing students since 1989 in various countries of a variety of ages in a multitude of informal and formal settings.

In 1990, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies from George Mason University. In 1995, I completed my Masters Degree in Secondary Education/Teaching English as a Second Language. After one year of working in a public school
setting, I began teaching privately and on a freelance basis for a number of private companies and language schools, and the government.

I'm attempting the impossible - learning a new language! Annika makes the impossible feel possible. She is a really great teacher, has excellent suggestions for how to move forward. I like the text we work from, too. I highly recommend learning a new language from Annika!

My son Jean-David, who was then 10 years old, took lessons with Anna during six months (the duration of our stay in South Bend) and he had much pleasure to follow these lessons and practise the piano every day. Anna made him play various styles of music and she corrected him well. Even if Jean-David knew only a few words in English (we are Swiss and he was used to speak French), he could understand what she explained. Anna had expactations, but she was also encouraging and friendly. I recommend her warmly.

I'm learning a musical instrument for the first time ever, at the young age of 43! I love working with Anna, she has made this a wonderful experience for me. Very informative, learning to read music and positioning my hands correctly. I have been taking lessons with Anna for 3.5 months now, she gives me just enough push out of my comfort zone to expand my piano learning.

Even though my resume suggests that I am a nerd, I am also an athlete and a geek, perhaps bit of a gamer and most certainly a goofball. I can juggle 9 juggling balls, 6 clubs, and 7 rings, I love Madden and Halo. I play YuGiOh! and aspire to play professional Ultimate Frisbee in a year. I have read many of the most popular Young Adult novels and nearly every textbook assigned in my college courses. Sometimes, when I first meet people, they ask what I can't do, because it seems like I have a lot of talents. Well, I'm a cannot draw, or read quickly, or act. I am slow at learning languages and understanding cultures.
I can be messy and can't cook. What I am trying to say is that I understand the struggles of not being good at something. I also have spent a lot of time honing the skills that came naturally to me to cover up my weak
nesses. I also know that sometimes extra help is truly necessary to before things can click. And sometimes things will never click, and you'll need the extra help just to keep your head above the water. I have received a ton of help in my life, and I am now in a position where I can finally start helping others, so that's what I am here to do.
