Classically trained pianist and singer. When it comes to piano, I have over 20 years of training under my belt. Majority of my experience deals with classical and accompaniment but have also studied jazz and contemporary. In the way of singing, I am a classically trained singer who majored in Opera Performance in college. I have plenty of performance experience from being on the stage in operas and musical to performing with choirs and solo recitals. In voice lessons a student can choose to specialize in opera or if they were to take standard voice lessons, they could expect a wide variety of music focusing on multiple languages and genres including musical theater.
With every musician, Music Theory is crucial. All students will learn the basics of reading music and those who choose, can go beyond to learn the structure of music a
nd why music is the way it is with Music Theory lessons.
I am qualified to teach all levels of piano, opera, and voice.I take a real hands on, active approach to teaching, going beyond just the lesson books.
I am also able to offer tutoring services. I have been tutoring since high school. In high school as part of the National Honors Society, we were asked to tutor once a week and it continued into college when I decided to double major in Psychology taking an interest in adolescence psychology. My strong suits and reading and math but I am more than happy to help in any subject.
I do have dogs in the house so please be advised if you have allergies.
*** Lesson Details *** Our sessions will be laid back and easy going. I expect the students to do their work and practice and as long as they are showing progress, we can continue with a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I am patient with my students, and do my best to develop teaching methods unique to each student to give the best experience and set them up for the highest level of success. I don't push students to perfection but rather assist them in reaching their personal best. As long as they are having fun and learning, I know I am doing my job. Music is to be enjoyed and that is my goal with each student.
For voice and piano, students will learn a wide variety of music. I also believe strongly in the power of sight reading. Students will also learn music theory in their lessons. Piano students will follow a lesson book curriculum along with learning scales and sight reading. Voice students will sing from all major languages (English, French, Italian, and German) and practice sight reading skills.
Students should bring a notebook to lessons where notes will be taken on what we accomplished in our lessons and what needs to be worked on for the next lesson. This will usually include a theory sheet, technique work, and songs.
Twice a year I hold a recital where students get to show off to other students and family what they have accomplished in their lessons. With piano students, you will prepare and memorize usually one song. For voice students, you will prepare and memorize two songs, at least one will be in a foreign language.

Elizabeth is a phenomenal instructor! Both kind and patient, she is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to help me understand the nuances of technique or the background of a particular piece of music. I'm nowhere near a natural player, but her approach to structuring my lessons and practice activities fits my needs as a learner, especially considering that I am an adult student juggling a myriad of other responsibilities. Elizabeth is adept at tailoring her lessons and long-term approach to my growth as a player to my skills and challenges, so that I not only immensely enjoy the experience, but also feel the growth I am making each and every week. She's the best I've ever had!!
Are you ready to fall in love with your voice? Are you ready for something different? If your voice isn’t becoming to you, YOU should be coming to ME!
I know what it's like to be frustrated with boring exercises and processes that seem to take a lot of time but yield no results. That's why I decided to teach DIFFERENTLY!
I've invested a lot of time, energy, emotion and $$$ on big-name schools and "experts", only to be disappointed with what I was taught because a lot of the information or techniques they employed simply didn't apply to me or my goals.
Since 1997, I have perfected the K.I.S.S. methodology to improve sales, stage performance, professional advancement and overall quality of life. My effectiveness and willingness to guarantee my work sets me worlds apart from every other professional in my field. Furthermore,
I have been named "Top Producer" in EVERY sales and management position held and have won first place in every singing and speech competition EVER entered since 1991. However, with my accolades, I am humble, easy-going and take a light-hearted and humorous approach to my coaching sessions. At an early age, I was taught the importance of working "smart" and not "hard." Efficiency and effectiveness were the order of every day. As the daughter of a Master Herbalist/musician (mother) and bodybuilder/ musician/ policeman (father), wellness, discipline and the stage have always been the way of life. As a child, I was fascinated by my mother's stories of performing with members of Earth, Wind and Fire and other famous musicians and marveled at my father's accounts of being a friend and colleague of Sergio "The Myth" Oliva (3x Mr. Olympia). These experiences piqued a strong interest in stage performance and resulted in years of training in fine arts, fitness and linguistics. I was constantly reminded that the best performers in any field are "complete packages", meaning that they are well-rounded and adept in multiple facets of their chosen field. To become a complete package, I studied classical piano and vocal performance at Sherwood Conservatory of Music and VanderCook College of Music; martial arts (Hapkido) at Hyun's; Fashion Design and Merchandise Management at International Academy of Design & Technology; herbal medicine at The School of Natural Healing; acting and musical improvisation at ETA Theatre and The Second City; flag, rifle and sabre twirling with South Shore Drill Team and runway/print modeling at Barbizon and The Fashion Connection. I have also studied tap, liturgical, ballet, modern, salsa, ballroom and street dance; speech therapy; actively study psychology, anatomy and nutrition and am a NESTA-certified wellness coach.

*** Lesson Details *** Each lesson is tailor-made to suit the student's individual needs. Custom action plan will be given to each student on a case-by-case basis. I have my bachelors degree in sacred music, my masters degree in music performance, and my doctorate in worship studies. I am an experienced music teacher with great interpersonal skills and enjoy creating a fun and meaningful learning environment for all ages of students. I teach music theory concepts as I teach music, and I also enjoy sharing the history of music and famous composers. Students should not just learn notes, but they should also learn about the wonderful story of music I have taught private clarinet, flute, saxophone, voice, and piano lessons for many years with great success. Many of my former students write to me periodically to tell me what they are doing in music. I look forward to working with many more students as we embark on the journey of learning music, pieces, history, and theory together. Students will look ba
ck and say they really enjoyed their lessons with me. I also have a background in teaching special needs children.
Paul has been very patient and wonderful with my 6 year old son who has just started lessons.
October 17, 2016
My first lesson was great. Mr. Paul was very patient and judged my skill level before making a lesson plan. Initially I was nervous, because I have never taken lessons before, but that quickly went away. I can definitely tell that he knows his stuff when it comes to teaching. He a great teacher and conversationalist.
September 15, 2016
Paul was very pleasant. He thoroughly explained things to my daughter in a manner that she could understand. He listened to her play and they also played together.
This was her first flute lesson with Paul, but she's already looking forward to the next lesson.
Nicole is available to teach lessons for students of all levels. Beginning her singing career when she was 7, she most recently sang at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, was a winner of the international CS Competition in musical theatre, and is a Chicago F.A.M.E. finalist for Jazz and popular music. Combined with her training and professional experience, Nicole teaches singers to switch gracefully between multiple styles. She practices what she preaches: one night she might be singing Beyoncé, and the next morning she might be singing Handel's Messiah!
Nicole has been a young artist for Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Metropolitan International Music Festival, and for Tiroler Opern Programm, under international instructors, including Elizabeth Bachman (from the Metropolitan Opera), Kim Josephson (Metropolitan Opera), Sharon Cheng (Caramoor),
Michael Fennely (Carnegie Hall), Wei-En Hsu (Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra), and Candace Evans (Santa Fe Opera). Nicole earned her Associates in Theatre from Brigham Young University ('12) and went on to acquire her BM in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University ('14). Nicole obtained additional training from Boston University, Elon University, and the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Education is one of the most valuable things you can acquire. Knowledge stays with you wherever you go and you can use it in the less unexpected situation.

It's amazing how our brain can absorb information in different ways. We can be learning something unintentionally. So whichever your circumstances are we should be open to learn or improve our skills every day. Remember, the process of learning never ends.
I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.
I enjoy tutoring (doing it ever since I was in high school for my classmates) and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!
"Daniel is the perfect tutor for Math. We are using him for AP Calc and Honors Pre-Calc/AB. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a Math tutor
!!!! He has a lot of experience."
"Mr. Steve Silver is the best tutor I ever had. He is truly an inspiration and his tutoring services have great impacts on my education"
"Bill is really pretty terrific. After going over the basics of first being understood in the public domain (voice and enunciation practices) we are now be
ginning, at my request, more commercial uses of speech. I have been in theater and done a few voice overs but just did the work with no training, and with the knowledge I could do better. Now I really feel like I am learning much from Bill about a subject area I always wanted more information about. I feel confident with Bill's specific and professional advice, practice and teaching materials (in this case, ad copy and homework). Bill is also friendly and his teaching is not intimidating or stern. I enjoy his classes and remember his situations. I would highly recommend Bill as a teacher! Try taking one of his classes!"
"Kawin is a great teacher who cares for his students . He will do all he can to make sure you understand your lesson. Extra help he is right there to help.
I would have never made it throughout my course without him. Great training, and he is worth ever dime he makes. If you want to make it through school, with someone who cares Kawin is the person to hire."
"My daughter really enjoyed her session with Jessie!"
"Saama is very very happy with his way of teaching and delivery of curriculum. He is a true and amazing teacher."
"Mrs. Bonnie worked with my children for the past 1 1/2 years and I know it helped them out considerably! Their grades improved and her ideas help them in
their testing. She would be a great asset to any young children or anybody looking for knowledge."
"Best playwriting teacher!! So rare to find on here and more rare to find someone knowledgeable and easy to talk to."
