About Daniel
In addition to teaching music, I have also worked as a special education assistant and wrestling/track coach at Lake Zurich Middle School South and an assistant Kung Fu/Tai Chi instructor at Green Mountain Arts in Logan Square, Chicago, Illinois. Jazz piano, Voice, and Composition are my main areas of expertise. However, I have also been recording, and playing guitar almost my entire life. I fully believe in music education not only for entertainment and personal enjoyment, but for many other means.
Beyond its capacity for being used as entertainment, music aids in learning, helps develop advanced motor skills, increases memory function, and many other purposes for a well rounded education. It is my goal to help educate the next generation in traditional music practices as well as incorporate new techniques that are relevant to our
current day and age.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lesson plans vary from person to person. I always make it a point to get to know the student's existing musical knowledge, goals, and background before I create a personalized lesson plan. All important concepts are covered as they are needed so students can understand theoretical concepts based upon actual application and usage. In short, I teach in a way that students can "dig in" right away and play, create, improvise, sing and/or compose freely and naturally. I always encourage students or parents to contact me with their goals, previous musical training, etc., and discuss what they really want out of lessons so they can get the most out of taking me on as an instructor.

Daniel adapted throughout the course of the hour-long lesson to understand what I already knew and find appropriate ways to fill in the gaps of my knowledge. He also started me on the process of learning a new approach when looking at and learning to play new music pieces.

About Alex
I am a recent graduate of Northwestern University, where I studied theatre and marketing and filled my time with a variety of creative pursuits from musical theatre to makeup design. However, the most important thing I learned at school was that my true passion is sharing my creativity with others through teaching. I have multiple years' experience as a vocal coach, piano accompanist, music director, and audition prep advisor. I also tutor young adults in the ACT and other high school subjects both in person and online, and have seen marked success in my students' test scores. Through my experiences in the theatre, I have also acquired skill in both theatrical and beauty makeup, and feel comfortable passing on this knowledge to others.

I would love to work with you on any of these skills at whatever level would serve you best.

I taught Algebra I and Geometry at Clemente High School in Chicago and AP Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry at Libertyville High School Summer Program. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a private school in Buffalo Grove, IL. I love tutoring students of any age, from elementary to high school. It makes me happy when I see the progress they are making. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instructions from Loyola University, Chicago.
At one point in my life I wanted to be a pharmacist, but when I became a teacher, I realized that that is what I was meant to be. I love helping people. Our son was tutored in math for 3 years while in middle school. Julia's tutoring provided a great foundation for his high school curriculum. It allowed him to finish one year of a college level math class while in high school.
Our daughter was also tutored while in elementary school. Math is her favorite subject in school. We really liked Julia's teaching approach, great communication skills , and her patience .

I have never sung in public but it was always a dream of mine to be able to sing a solo in front of my family and friends for the holidays. I heard about Ms. Lydia through friends and asked her to teach me to sing. She gave me a free consultation to determine what my needs were and then set up a plan to help me reach my goals through the lessons that she gave me. Fast forward to last Christmas, I surprised my family by singing a ton of Christmas favorites and I am preparing to do the same this year. Thank you Ms. Lydia

I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.

I enjoy tutoring and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!

Aside from academics, I enjoy playing the piano. I also play the occasional volleyball and improv theater.

Learning piano has been an amazing experience because Bill tries his best to pass his musical passion down to me. He doesn't take the boring route of learning piece by piece as many other teachers often do, but he focused strongly on musicality, style, and interpretation.

This makes practice and learning more engaging instead of becoming a mindless chore.

Hector puts forth 110% towards his work and students to ensure quality material. He is patient, and is more than happy to clarify any questions.
Not only does his passion lies within teaching, but he is continulusly striving to learn new things. He loves to analyze complex sciences and the world around him, and as an outcome he formulates fascinating theories. Not only is a great teacher, but a friend who truly inspires those around him.

Hector was easily the most friendly and helpful instructor I've had. He was very patient with me and was willing to explain everything in clear detail, step by step. He was also very energetic when teaching, which made Chemistry a lot more enjoyable. He made sure I understood concepts before moving on, and respected my pace of learning. I would highly recommend Hector!

I have known Hector for the past couple of years. Over the last two years, in specific, Hector has been of great help in my educational career. He has not only been encouraging into me pursing my Speech and Language Pathology career, but he has been of great help when it came to a course I took last semester. I was taking Psychology-LIfe Cycle Development, and him and I had a very interesting talk about a specific topic we were covering in class. He helped me understand the topic much more, by giving me examples outside of the book and strengthening my knowledge. I am so grateful for the enormous help that Hector has been, but also for being extremely encouraging and believing in me.
