I have a very solid academic background in math and science and rich experience in working with students to improve their math proficiency.

About Fiona
I view teaching/education as my calling, by that I mean it is a profession that deserves life-time effort and dedication. I ascribe who I am and what I have accomplished to my parents and all my teachers. They instilled knowledge, the skill to learn, and the moral compass in me, which transformed me into an independent and contributing citizen who knows how to and when to make the right decision. I feel that to do the same as my teachers did to me is my responsibility to younger generations.

I hold a Ph.D. in chemistry. With a strong academic background in science and math, I have successfully helped many students improve their academic performance in math and science through tutoring.

In recent years, I have also tutored students in standardized exams. My expertise is MCAT chemistry and physics, SAT, GRE, and GMAT.

I can hel
p you achieve the score you need to enter your dream school.

I enjoy having Fiona as a tutor for both chemistry and geometry. She is kind and makes the material easier to understand. Also, she is patient and takes her time in explaining the concepts to me, step by step. I love how she types some parts of the problems in the chat box. ~Genesis C.

Had our first lesson with Julissa and the experience was painless lol! My daughter was reticent at first but warmed easily. She thought she might not understan Julissa because of her accent but that was not a problem. All in all a great mathematic experience.

Is math stressing you out? It doesn't have to!

My goal is to help your confidence grow. When taking an algebra lesson with me, you will find that we will always go at a pace that makes sense for your needs. If you feel uncomfortable with whatever a "slope" is, we will work on slope until you feel like we can move on. I will not push you to move faster than you are comfortable.

On the other hand, I also adjust my pace depending on your skill level. Maybe you just need a few sessions for algebra review. In that case, we can move faster through concepts.

No matter what, as we work through this math, I strive to always have your best interests in mind.

My teaching personality is calm and friendly. I am interested in you as a whole student, and not just as a math student. I want all of my students to succeed in their subject, but also to feel heard.

Thank you for looking at my profile! I hope to work with you soon!

About Corinne
Hello! Thank you for checking out my TakeLessons profile. My name is Corinne, and my passion is teaching. Great teachers can have lasting effects on their students, and I cherish the possibility of improving my students’ lives through music.

When I'm teaching a lesson, it may seem on the surface that we're only practicing how to play their instrument well. However, with every student that I meet, my goal is to help them learn how to set and achieve realistic goals. A brand new clarinet student’s weekly goal may be to play their instrument for 10 seconds without taking a breath. An advanced clarinet student’s goal may be to master a piece for their college audition. Both students have challenging goals based on their skill level, but the goals look very different!

I believe that goal-setting is an important life skill that can set a
nyone on a path to greatness – as long as they know how to follow through.
My goal is to help YOU reach your goals.

When I am not working with students, you can find me working on my own goals! I practice all of my instruments often, and I am working hard to become a great tap dancer. My non-musical interests include learning about the coffee-making process, learning how to make costumes from scratch, and playing The Sims.

Thank you for your attention, and I hope to meet you soon!

Caitlin July 1, 2019

Ashwini assumed that I was married upon meeting her, and asked me when I was getting married as soon as she learned I wasn't married. She also asked where I was getting married, even though at the time I wasn't engaged. Even when I made it apparent I wasn't engaged, she continued to refer to my boyfriend as my fiance.

She would send me political things going on in India, even though I have no interest, and it has nothing to do with the lessons I was taking from her. She asked me if my boyfriend was voting, and many personal things that shouldn't be asked of a student learning Hindi.

She often moved my scheduled time around without asking, which meant that I needed to move my schedule around in order to attend her sessions.

As a teacher she was pretty good, but some things disappointed me there too. For instance, I made a sentence in which a jeweler was a woman, and she stated that can't be correct, because there are no woman jewelers. I'm a woman engineer, and it's really sad to see such a sexist thing. Even when I attempted to ask about how you would say something about a woman jeweler, she said it was impossible. Later she said nurses could only be woman.

Few teachers have the passion and enthusiasm that Ashwini has. She gives absolute attention to every student and takes keen, genuine interest in the child's learning and progress. The best part is that she adopts teaching techniques based on the child's needs, as she understands that every child's strength and learning curve is unique. Her patience and perseverance as a teacher have inspired students to keep doing their best.

I've been tutoring Algebra for several years. My students have gone from struggling with the material to surpassing their peers on tests.

About Angeline
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Pre-Medical Biology major and psychology minor. Shortly after I graduated, I tested into the American Mensa organization (an organization open to those with IQs in the top 2% of the population). Prior to becoming a full-time tutor, I worked in various industries, including healthcare, IT security and web development. I have taken the SAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT and the MCAT, so I am familiar with the major tests and their associated strategies.

I decided to become a tutor because I understand how important it is to invest in our youth's education. With my particular background, my professional interests involve the math and sciences as well as standardized tests. I predominantly work with high school children to young adult college students, especially young ladies, as we need more of th
em in the STEM fields.

I'm a down to earth, easy-going tutor. In my sessions, I make learning fun and accessible whether your goal is to understand Calculus or improve your SAT score.
