I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker. I can teach you the "real" spoken Brazilian Portuguese from Rio de Janeiro. I have been teaching Brazilian Portuguese since 2013 in NYC.
It is time to achieve your goals, and I definitely can help you with that. I dedicated my life to the "Art of Teaching", and I have been helping people to improve their music skills ever since. I LOVE to teach, and because of this passion, I know how to listen to you, design a perfect lesson that will be exactly what you are looking for, and make your learning process enjoyable!
I have worked with Bill as a vocalist for several years, and have always been impressed with his singing voice. Now having studied with him privately, I am even more impressed with his teaching skills—fun, encouraging, and informative, his lessons are not to be missed! Also, very reasonably priced!

I've worked with Bill in multiple capacities since we met. He has an incredible instrument and a fantastic attitude. He is always willing to help you with whatever your particular need may be, and he's a very kind and engaging vocal instructor. He is passionate about what he does, and equally passionate about helping you with what you do!

Bill is an awesome instructor! He's versatile, so I can go to him for arrangements issues, vocal coaching, choir questions and whenever I need to record an accompaniment for a song. AND he's also fun! I highly recommend!
I lived in Manaus, Brazil for 2 years as a volunteer proselytizing missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a result of talking to people all day, every day, I attained full fluency and command of the Portuguese language. I further polished my abilities in the language by taking an advanced Portuguese grammar class and Brazilian history class (both taught exclusively in Portuguese) during my Bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University. I know the language intimately, and can provide the highest quality of instruction to students of the language.
As a recent recipient of a Master's Degree in Flute Performance from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, Drew Powell is a promising young flutist and highly sought after flute teacher. For 15 years, he has participated in numerous music competitions, festivals, and performance opportunities, both as a soloist and part of ensembles, and actively continues to do so. He is an advocate of the arts and passionate about spreading the gift of music, which has lead him to teach over 30 students (and counting!) in just the past 3 years.
Drew won the 2017 Myrna Brown Artist Competition (an international competition with no age limit) hosted by the Texas Flute Society. He was recently invited to be a guest artist at the 2018 Texas Flute Society Annual Convention, where he taught several masterclasses and gave solo performances.
**My Vision*** I seek students who share a love of learning. I am not looking for the finest musicians or highest IQ's, because those gifts are not required to learn and grow. My greatest experiences as a teacher have come from when I work with students who just want to learn more.
***My Requirements*** I hold my students to high expectations when it comes to practicing. Each week, I give students individual assignments that I know will improve their learning and playing abilities, and I expect those assignments to be fulfilled by the next lesson. A failure to do so will result in frustration for both myself and my student.
However, I know that nobody is perfect, and I myself have had my share of weeks where life happens, and I simply don't progress as much as I would like. As a teacher, I understand this perfectly, and I will always strive to listen to my students, and work with them through their difficulties or struggles.
***What To Expect From Lessons*** I bring a lot of energy to lessons! I am very passionate about teaching and helping students grow, and I make sure to bring that to every lesson. I give concise, direct feedback to students, making sure to give them the information they need to understand how they can achieve their goals and grow.
I am very perceptive of students' feelings, and I take care to be sensitive to their needs each week. My worst fear as a teacher is to cause hurt feelings, so I will do everything in my power to avoid that!
I am an expert in the field of music and the flute, so you can be rest assured that the quality of instruction will be the highest.
Drew is always polite, patient, and professional. I would definitely recommend his lessons to anyone wanting to learn to play the flute. I am looking forward to our future lessons.

In the few months that I've had flute lessons with Drew, I've grown so much. As a beginner in flute, I was completely scared and overwhelmed with taking band for the first time. Knowing I needed lessons, I'm so glad that I was paired with Drew. On my first lesson, Drew asked me what my goals were and I told him that it was to just simply read the notes on the page. That's all I expected to learn from him, but he taught me so much more! Drew taught me about musical expression, tone and all the little details behind flute playing. His teachings challenged and motivated me. My peers and band teacher have noticed my improvement and progress. Thanks to Drew, I can now play with confidence and poise. -Emma
Gina has a BA and MA in Portuguese language and literature. She has family in Brasil and teaches both Brazilian and European Portuguese. She is very active with the Brazilian community in her city, promoting the Portuguese language and culture. She does translation and interpretation work as well as tutoring and teaching. Gina travels frequently to Brasil and Portugal and is very happy to share her passion for the Portuguese language.
Hello! I am Gina and I am a specialist in Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and French. I have been teaching and tutoring foreign languages since 1990. I teach adults, college students, high school and elementary students. I have taught in schools, community programs, language classes for businesses, in person and online. I can help you prepare for an exam or class, teach you language for business or travel- or just for the love of the language.
I have been multilingual since a young age and have always had a passion for languages. I studied multiple languages in school and went on to earn both a Bachelors and a Masters degree (University of Connecticut) in Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and French language and literature.
I am an active member of multiple foreign language groups in my community, including the Alliance Française of Ch
arleston, Nuovo Cinema Italiano film club, Dante Society of Charleston, Cercle Littéraire, Brasileiros em Charleston, Conversemos en Español, and other conversation and language groups.
I do translation and interpretation work, travel extensively, do foreign language tours and am very passionate about sharing my love of the Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and French languages.
My focus in teaching is how to acquire a foreign language just as one acquires their native language, making that language a part of one’s life.
Whether you are brand new to the language or have been studying for awhile- I would love to be your guide on your language journey!
I Connected very well with Gina. The fact that I’m Brazilian and she also speaks Portuguese is perfect.
She can show the difference and the mistakes we Brazilian do when we speak Spanish. Looking forward our next lesson.

Gina is very flexible with her teaching approach. She meets me at my level. She slows down when I may not be grasping a concept and speeds up to keep me engaged.
I would whole-heartedly recommend her!
I'm a native English speaker who learned Brazilian Portuguese on the streets, as I like to call it, while I lived in Brazil for a couple of years. I have attained full command of the language, with intimate knowledge of the grammar structure as well as an extensive vocabulary. I've been speaking fluently for close to 5 years now. In that time, I've successfully convinced many Brazilians that I too was a Brazilian, meaning that I've completely gotten rid of the American accent. I did this in both Brazil and the U.S. I still consistently speak with native Brazilians and always am seeking to expand my own vocabulary. To add on, my girlfriend is a native Brazilian, and her father is currently seeking his master's degree (well, the Brazilian equivalent) in Portuguese (like, somebody here in the U.S. receiving their graduate degree in English). Each lesson is catered to the individual's needs and goals. So, as Ice Cube and his crew, NWA once famously stated, during lessons with me, you're ...
I teach/tutor a myriad of topics and love doing it. I'm currently attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, studying aerospace engineering and Russian. I love science and math (particularly when it has to do with space stuff). I'm super outgoing and a very laid back, chill person all at the same time (being like this has produced quite the stories).
Working with others and helping them succeed has been something I've loved to do for a while now. While I was in high school, I was a coach for one of the local swim teams and had a blast getting to teach people how to swim and such, and the best part was getting to connect with those kids and seeing them succeed during the swim meets.
Once I graduated, I had the privilege to serve as a full time volunteer in Brazil for a couple years, where my sole focus, every day, was to help o
thers to improve the quality of their life. In doing so, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet new people everyday and see people's lives drastically improve. Another cool part of this experience was that I got to teach English as a second language to people who'd never spoken it before. They loved it, and in the time that I did teach it, students went from speaking no English to being able to form basic sentences and have simple conversations.
Now in college, I've strived to continue this pattern with the little free time that I get during the week and on the weekends due to my classes. Throughout all of this, I've discovered how easy it is for me to connect with people and how much fun it can be.
What I bring to the lessons: I always ensure to provide the highest quality lessons and ensure that the student easily understands the materials. I'll provide materials that I know will assist the student to master the concepts.
My expectations: Learning requires the student to put in effort. Any assignments I give, I will expect them to be completed. I understand that sometimes one of "those weeks" comes around where life hits us in the face, but it's not every week.
Your expectations: You've come to me obviously to learn something new, and I intend to go above and beyond those expectations.
I wrote 5 star review (would give more if could) But showing as 4 stars... not sure why. So writing another one! But I can't say enough great things about Andrew. After 1 tutoring session my son had so many "ah ha" moments. I am so thankful and full of joy. My son is actually "getting it" and may even see how math could be fun...lol.

Andrew was amazing with my 15 yr old son. I am full of joy! My son had so many 'ah ha' moments and actually starting to see math (trig) can be fun. Andrew is an amazing tutor and my son felt so comfortable working with him. I am so thankful and will definitely continue tutoring lessons. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I learned all the Portuguese I know from taking many different Portuguese classes at college, including grammar, linguistics, and literature and from living in the "Portuguese House" (at the Foreign Language Student Residence, part of on-campus housing at BYU) for two semesters. I specialize in teaching Portuguese to speakers of Spanish, but I can also teach anyone who wants to learn, even without any other prior language experience. I have grown to love the Portuguese language and the people of the various Portuguese-speaking countries around the world.
I hail from Walla Walla, Washington, home of the "famous" sweet onions. I can't begin to express how much I love languages!! I have studied 8 so far (Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, and Dutch) and I teach 5 (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Japanese), and want to keep learning new languages throughout the rest of my life. I love to work with students so that's why I've kept my rates low--to make sure more people can have the opportunity to learn these languages. I have a down-to-earth style and I allow my students to guide their own learning in a student-structured, individualized way. As of June 2019, I have taught multiple students different languages, among whom are three students I have been teaching between 7 and 9 months, who have all improved considerably and continue to progress steadily
. I am positive I can help you come to understand the wonderful world that is language and to learn how amazing it is to be able to say the same thing in so many different ways, and how much better it is to be able to communicate with someone in his/her native language instead of having to resort to English. Let's do this!!
Note: I have not had any connectivity problems for quite a while now so be assured that I can provide quality instruction with no issues.
Since I'm absolute beginner in Japanese, I found Paul to be the perfect fit for me. If you are young or adult (me) I would highly recommend taking classes with Paul at least for your beginning classes. I'm sure he would be the perfect fit for you too.

I am making amazing progress with Paul as my Instructor! I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to become proficient in Japanese! 5 Stars +!

My son was excited to have a real singer as an instructor, and hasn't stopped bouncing and singing scales since! We're looking forward to growing with Mr. B's help!

I hired Bruno to help me comprehend my book for class. He showed up and genuinely cared that I was getting it. He showed me a note taking idea that to me seemed that if I just wrote a couple of ideas down I’d go back and know where I was as far as going back and studying. He asked if I needed to write this point down and basically showed how to do the job. Great work.

Mr. Barbosa is a very outgoing person who always checks in on his students before we begin the lesson. At the
beginning of the lesson, we start with warm-ups so our voice is
ready to sing high or low notes. When you first start with Mr. Bar-
bosa, he will have you sing multiple songs and scales so he can
learn your vocal range. Mr. Barbosa makes sure that you understand
the content and if you don't, he is helpful and explains it in a way we
can comprehend. Lessons are a great way to improve your singing.
I’m becoming more comfortable performing in front of my peers.
“Carmen’s lessons really make the Portuguese language come alive! She identifies her students motivations to learn the language and designs lessons that targets vocabulary and expressions that are really useful to rapidly advance proficiency.”
Aaron Spencer, USA, (United Nations & Rockefeller Foundation)
“I have been studying Portuguese for 2 years and I have had a few teachers but Carmen has been by far the best. She is attentive and her learning programs work.”
Erin Liefeld, Australia, (kinesiologist)
“Very professional, interactive approach simulating real-life situations with great variability. High degree of customization leveraging my Spanish skills and the synergies with Portuguese.”
Harald Gunia, Germany, (Engineer)

Our lessons have become one of the things I look forward to every week. Carmen is amazing and if you want to learn Portuguese you won't find anyone better!
July 24, 2019
One of the amazing things about Professora Carmen is that during our lessons I will often times ask a question about something I am stuck on or curious about, and she will flawlessly use my question as a teaching moment. As an example, I mentioned how in a song I heard a phrase that didn't make sense to me. 15 minutes later we had use that phrase to help me learn more about Brazilian culture, grammar, and different meanings to similar words. Honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had in my 16+ years of schooling!
Olá! My name is Ozioma and I am SO stoked that you are interested in learning Portuguese! Learning a foreign language gives you glimpses into a different culture, its customs, values, and how they see the world. I have had the pleasure of living in Belo Horizonte, Brazil for two years, working with a non-profit organization as a translator. Portuguese is a beautiful language, with many nuances. It’s speakers communicate not simply through their words, but with their tone, their emotion. I get that learning a new language at times, can feel overwhelming, which is why I would love to help! Vamos?
Hello there! My name is Ozi! I am a native of Nigeria, but raised in Atlanta, Ga. I love music, photography, and travel, and would love to be your tutor!
