I graduated from the University of South Florida where I received my BA in Theatre performance & Communication with a minor in Dance. My Music and Performance experience started when I was 6 singing in choir, school productions, and taking piano lessons. I continued on with group ensembles, musical theatre shows and later on touring with the Spanish Lyric Theatre in Both English and Spanish in throughout Florida after college.

I have been teaching one on one and group lessons for 15 years in various subjects, Including Music, Dance, Theatre, Academic Tutoring (Eleme
ntary/Middle School subjects: English, Writing, Reading, Math, Social Studies, Reading, Writing, Learning Skills, Civics, French, and test preparations), and Culinary Lessons.

*for travel to location lessons please contact me prior to booking to check location and availability, due to designated areas I already have established teaching and only travel to.

Cooking Lessons I conduct online, and all subjects can be done online also.

I like the combination of relaxed and goal oriented. I like to get to know my students and learn about about expectations and goals they have for themselves. Then I set up a plan that will help them achieve their goals and get them closer to what they want from their lessons. I take into consideration their interest, style, and help them to find their unique learning style.

I do have some guidelines for parents and students. If the student is a minor, I ask that the parent be in the house for the lesson. I also ask that the lesson be performed in the Living room or Music Space.

Voice & flute students age 10 and up
Piano students age 4 and up

(I've taught age 3 and up before, however the ages I've listed above for lessons is what I have found to be most effective. Group classes may be a good alternative for very young students seeking voice or band instruments.)

Hello, fellow music lovers! My name is Nicole and I would be honored to have the opportunity to help you take your music skills, whether beginning to advanced, to the next level! I am a singer with 25+ years of experience with solos, small ensemble groups, and large choirs. My singing styles range from opera, musical theatre, jazz, gospel, and christian contemporary, just to name a few. : )  I am also an experienced flutist with 5 + years of study and an intermediate-level pianist with about 5 years of study in the classical technique, and playin
g chords to follow most any style. I also enjoy teaching some music theory (the rules of music) in written, sight singing, and piano chords, if requested. Music theory along with voice and instrument lessons can provide a further understanding of each musical concept.

My training first began in elementary school, in Virginia Beach, VA, when I took my first group voice lessons and concert band classes as a beginning flutist. I continued my study with a large home school band in the 7th grade. I was then chosen to play the flute in an All City Band in Virginia Beach, for excellence in my performance skills. From there I continued my study at a private school in Virginia Beach with many chorus, band, and youth band classes to further my music reading and improvisational performance skills. At age eighteen I moved to Tampa, FL and became a Liberal Arts major with a concentration in Music at Hillsborough Community College (HCC). I graduated from HCC with an AA in Liberal Arts/Music. I was then accepted to further my music study at the University of South Florida (USF). I studied voice and a sampling of other instruments in the Music Education program. I graduated with two and one-half years of music education training and another four years of voice training with a BA in Music Studies. Also, during my college years I participated in the elite USF Chamber Singers, the University Singers, the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, and many studio recitals.

In 2013 I completed my fourth year of music teaching in a small private school in Tampa, FL. I have sang with Opera Tampa since their 2012-2013 season in the professional opera chorus for productions such as Carmen, The Magic Flute, and Madame Butterfly. I have continued to add new performance jobs with The Princeton Festival in Princeton, NJ (2014), St. Petersburg Opera in St Pete, FL , and the Tampa Spiritual Ensemble performing in the surrounding Tampa Bay areas. In addition, I continue my studies part time at the Patel Conservatory in downtown Tampa.

I look forward to working with you to make all your music dreams come true! So, let's make beautiful music together very soon!

*** Lesson Details ***
When taking lessons with me you can expect to learn in a very positive, encouraging, and laid back environment! I believe that learning is fun, very rewarding, and never stops. I plan to continue learning more about my craft for the rest of my life and I would encourage my students of all ages to adopt this mentality also.

For voice lessons I like to begin with warm-ups and breathing exercises that can be modified to any style of songs. Then to song selections that will be enjoyable, yet helpful in making your voice better. For opera style I primarily use the G. Schirmer Opera Anthology books, and Hal Leonard published anthology series' for different art songs. For all other vocal styles I enjoy using various published individual-song sheet music or CDs and accompaniment tracks. Along the way giving all applicable tips for producing better sound, projection, breathing, phrasing, and musicality.

For flute lessons I would begin with scales or simple exercises. Then to specific pieces that you would want to work on or techniques from the Accent on Achievement or Standards of Excellence book series'.

For piano lessons I would begin with finger stretches, scale warm-ups and/or easy chords or pieces to get the fingers ready to practice. Then I would progress to your chosen pieces or a book from the Alfred or Bastien Piano Book series', which includes books for all levels and styles.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide CDs and/or lesson books, if needed.

*** Specialties ***
Vocal: Up to advanced level Classical, Jazz, Musical Theatre, R&B, Pop, Gospel, Sight-reading
Flute: Up to Intermediate level Classical, Sight-reading

About Alexander
As a violin teacher, I always aim to set goals for students, to guide students towards them, and to be direct as possible so far as is appropriate. I also try to stay results-oriented throughout the process. Even if not all of a student’s progress is directly attributable to me, the most important thing was that he improve. I teach from the personal perspective of a traditional, technically founded approach to classical music, but I also love to arrange simple songs from any genre for each student, chosen by me or upon request. On the side, I enjoy playing fiddle music with my family and friends.
As a math and standardized test tutor, I strive to stay results-oriented and based around the student's needs. In past experience as a tutor in college, where I was an undergraduate math major, I would often see shortcuts to problems that to me
were simpler than the methods taught in class, but I became acutely aware of the need to approach learning from students' point of view in addition to my own. Putting students first calls me to help them directly with their needs and to meet them where they are.

I really appreciated Alexander teaching me violin. He was basically my first instructor and he was always patient and motivating. He accommodated my unique needs as an adult beginner and brought me far in a short time. He was a little challenged to balance teaching with his heavy school load, but I appreciated his willingness to take the time to teach and help others.

About Rob
I am an easy going, knowledgable and creative teacher. I strive to put the students and their personal needs first. I'm very aware that each student/person learns differently and I incorporate various strategies of learning into my lessons. There is a lot of humor and dialogue with my lessons, allowing my students the freedom to be themselves while playing.

As a school teacher, I have lots of experience in building student confidence and knowledge. If you aren't confident then you aren't progressing!

I like to record my students at different intervals of their education so they can hear the progress! I email a lesson recap after every lesson so that the student can see what we learned that week, including any notes/attachments for the student to review.

I also encourage my students to text/email/ or call with any questi
ons/concerns between lessons. This gives my students the ability to get through a challenging or difficult concept/strategy when its happening and not have to wait till the next lesson.

About Leonardo
Doing what I love: teaching, training, interacting with people. I retired from the army after 28 years of active and reserve military service, so now I have time to do privately what I did for the army for so many years: teach and train people. For many years I presented seminars in Spanish and English in Central and South America as well as the Caribbean on many subjects to adults of all ranks. I am a Florida State Certified Spanish teacher. My Bachelor's degree is in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico, and I hold minors in History and French. I am (since 1993) a financial adviser (stock broker, RIA) and a licensed insurance agent, which is my other passion and area of expertise. This tutoring for me is not a job; it is a passion, just another way I do what I love - teaching, advising and interacting with people. I

I have always had trouble with Spanish, I have been trying to learn how to speak it for 7 years on and off but I am making huge leaps in this language thanks to Leonardo. Leonardo is excellent at teaching, he will push you to do better and give you practical assignments. Most importantly Leonardo is patient, I mess up all the time and mispronounce words quite often. Leonardo loves to teach and he doesn't keep his eye glued on the clock, He will stay with you until you understand the material. I can tell that he is great at teaching since he has been doing this for a long time. Leonardo can sense when you are bored or stressed and he will switched the exercise and make it enjoyable. The hardest part of his lessons is saying bye at the end, other then that each minute is enjoyable. Take him and you will go far, probably farther then you expected.

Jennifer is a wonderful tutor that personalizes instruction for the child. My fifth grader loved working with her and not only learned but also gained confidence and enjoyment in reading. Even though he no longer needs reading support, Jennifer continues to be in contact with us and is a reading buddy to my son. They pick a book every quarter to read outside of my son's school books and talk about it. Who has a tutor who does that?

Jennifer taught my third-grade daughter who has Dyslexia. She came to the house twice a week and used a combination of Orton-Gillingham and Wilson to teach my daughter. The combination made it possible for my daughter to work on phonemic awareness, phonics, and comprehension in a way that builds on my daughter's skills which gave her confidence and success. She also gave my daughter diagnostic assessments to pinpoint her struggles and periodic assessments to see her progress. She wrote up reports for myself and my daughter's teacher to further build her success. Jennifer ended every lesson with an academic game which my daughter loved so much we had to get some of them for her. Jennifer was wonderful and got my daughter to grade level and helped her to pass her EOGs. She is also very flexible and so supportive. She took interest in my daughter's likes and even came to her dance recital. You can tell she loves what she does and loves working with children.

I am an adult student who was studying at a community college. I was looking for a tutor to help with my math but was having trouble finding someone since I have a disability. I found Jennifer and she was wonderful. She met with me twice a week for an hour each time to help me work through my lessons. She was also always available by phone or email in between lessons to help with anything I needed including motivation and support. I tutored with her for two years and officially graduated from college. Jennifer came and supported me and was more than a tutor but a friend. She is extremely caring, patient and smart.

About Maddy
Hi there!

My name is Maddy. I'm from California, but I've spent the past few years since I turned 18 to study and move around the world. I've picked up some skills along the way that I would love to share with you!

I have a great amount of experience teaching and working with people. I have been teaching music since I was in high school and working as a writing tutor since I started college. I have worked extensively as a nanny, babysitter, camp counselor, and university student advisor, so I have a lot of experience coaching and inspiring kids from three years old to 23!

I was selected by professors in the English department of the American University of Paris to work as a peer writing tutor, coaching college students from around the world in crafting academic essays, research papers, and even theses in a wide variety of subject
s - everything from literature to politics to business to philosophy, and beyond! I was trained extensively for this position over the course of months by two English writing professors.

I am an independent musician and singer-songwriter, performing, recording, writing, and sharing music since I was in middle school. I have booked shows in San Francisco, held successful crowdfunding campaigns, recorded in a studio, built social media platforms, and, of course, written many songs. With a great deal of experience teaching music (which I grew up around because my parents own a music school), I love to help others develop their songwriting and kick-start their music careers.

I am both organized and creative, structured and encouraging. While I have a natural tendency and understanding of constructing clean, clear writing, I also value imagination, innovation, and fun over all and hope to teach you structures and methods that can guide you, giving you the opportunity to develop your own voice and style without the frustration of not knowing where to start writing, or how to continue.

More than anything, I love being able to share my passions with others, and encourage people to reach their full creative potential! I really believe we can all write (whether academically or creatively) and create, and I am here to support you along the way and provide you with the necessary tools to overcome that writer's block and other frustrations to achieve the final product you can be proud of!

I am so excited to work with you!
