I teach every level and prepare students to take ACT, SAT, GRE tests. I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make the learning interesting and fun.
All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary.
I am experienced (3 years) in home school tutoring. I mostly work with Florida Virtual School students. I overlook their tests and assignments, and help them with preparations for Discussion Based Assessmemts (DBA). I also help parents with required annual evaluations and how to sign up with home education department. For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make them interested in learning and have fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I show how to use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as learning opportunities.
I have Masters in Education (2018) with specialization in English, Curricul
um and Education; and Masters in Arts (2012) in Teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as a degree in violin performance from Chicago. I studied piano in Chicago for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program. I have taught music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am fan of the Essential Elements method and I Can Read Music book for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards. For teaching music theory I mostly used Fundamentals of Piano Theory (9 levels) combined with Master Theory (6 levels) books.
I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach Piano competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions. I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs. I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.
*** Lesson Details *** All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary. All my lessons include technique and reading music. I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both. Music theory: I use Master Theory and Fundamentals of Piano Theory books for younger ages, Alfred's music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.
Besides Essential Elements for strings I also use String Tunes and I Can Read Music to add more fun to the lessons as well as support reading music during the lesson. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.
*** Studio Equipment *** I always bring violin with me to be able to show what I teach.
*** Travel Equipment *** The students need to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books, flashcards & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I always bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.
*** Specialties *** I tutor most K-12 subjects and prepare students to take ACT, SAT, GRE tests. Music genres: Classical, traditional, Suzuki, Popular, Celtic, fiddle, Blues
I'm sorry, I cannot handle this Instructor for my children. She wasn't me but she's not quite the people person I expected. Her personality is not a good match for a high school tutor. Unfortunately her English is not good enough. Her accent is entirely too strong. Also she does not know enough Geometry to help my kids.

I love teaching, and I love Math. I've been preparing students to succeed in the SAT Math for the past 5 years and my students have master the subject. I specialize in online lessons. I use the student's book or my own materials. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
I love teaching, I can teach you at where you at and take you where you need to be. I only need a student with the desire to learn and to practice.
I like to help students realize they have the intelligence and ability to solve the problems on their own, they just need the right direction. Nothing is too difficult once we understand how to do it!

I have been teaching since 2008 with some of the best online teaching companies in the world. Experience of 10 years is more enough to show my teaching skills to different types of students from different countries. My subjects of expertise are Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biologywith the class range from Elementary level to college grade. it will be really great to work with you if you need some best teacher that can explain everything from the easiest level to hard.
Studying is serious business. We will write essays. We will analyze passages. We will laugh in the face of all that is boring about standardized tests.
Ultimately, my paradigm as a teacher will be to make myself progressively unnecessary.
The most important attributes of any teacher are empathy and patience.
I currently attend Harvard University and work as a professional writer and tutor. I've lived all over the United States, although I grew up in Scotland of all places. My scores on the SAT and ACT were perfect (1600 and 36 respectively), though I too had to work hard to get there, so I know what it's like when you're just starting out.
Over the years, I've worked with students suffering from ADD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, speech disorders, and depression; I personally grew up inured to social anxiety, so I can always empathize.
Some tutors will tell you that they know all the tricks and shortcuts. But really, there are no tricks. No shortcuts. Just hard work and sleepless nights and talking to yourself while brushing your teeth in the morning
I have a decade of experience and a vast collection of study materials that I can share with you for free. I've had the privilege to help hundreds of students with everything from college applications and essays to Creative Writing and Calculus, not to mention the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, ASVAB, and AP and SAT II subject tests, like Literature, Statistics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry as well.
I absolutely love writing, of course, so I can teach you how to write an action scene or listen to a poem.
Simeon has been an absolutely invaluable resource for my SAT prep. His encouragement is appropriately supplemented by challenging material and (appropriately) challenging expectations. He manages to make studying for the SAT fun rather than a laborious task and I could not recommend him more.

My daughter's score increased by 130. Thanks SImeon!

Simon has somehow inspired my granddaughter to work really hard to prepare for her SATs. She is finding studying fun again, but more importantly, she is once again more confident about her intelligence and her ability to learn. His style and quirky humor is a perfect match for my granddaughter.
As a Comparative Literature major recently graduated from Colorado College, reading and writing are my strong suits. I am also good at SAT Math and scored 800/800.
Hi! I am an undergraduate student at Colorado College, majoring in Comparative Literature and Music. I am from Shenzhen, China, and moved to the U.S. when I was 18.
I play the banjo, do all forms of arts, and have a never-dying crave for traveling. I lived in Brazil and Finland for a little while. I have a talent in learning new languages and am passionate about teaching them.
I have taught Chinese to people of all age. I specialize in teaching listening and speaking. If you would like to take lessons with me in person, then I am good at teaching reading and writing as well. My strength is in my patience for my students. I understand that learning a new language, especially Chinese, is not an overnight progress. As a language learner myself, I emphasize with the frustration, yet the excitement of learning the language and the cultu
So trust me! Let yourself or your child be in good hands.
I'm really enjoying my lessons with Yuexin. She's very patient and is able to answer all my questions. She's also happy to customize the lesson to suit my interests; for example, we took some time to go over voice lines in a video game that were in Chinese and then work on the pronunciation and pinyin for them.
The textbook and workbook she had me get have been helpful, and I've been supplementing by practicing on my own using Duolingo. I think the combination has been really effective for learning the language. Yuexin has been great for correcting my pronunciation and teaching me how native speakers would actually speak and write.

Yuexin is an excellent Mandarin teacher for kids. My 8 year-old has started lessons and is progressing well. Yuexin researched and picked out a good textbook for kids. She is patient, clear, and easy to schedule with. We are happy!

Yuexin is a fantastic teacher. She is very good at teaching all things China, whether that's teaching mandarin or giving out helpful tips about China. Great teacher.
I would love to become involved and help strengthen the math skills of your high schooler! I am currently tutoring a number of high schoolers and have seen a huge boost in their confidence and abilities and would love to work with yours. In addition to reinforcing the fundamentals, and dissecting advanced material so it is more easily understood, I plan to initially is to examine their thought process, and then deconstruct their approach so it becomes more systematic and methodical.
I had a near perfect SAT math score (780 when it was scored out of 800) and also attended UPenn. But most importantly I can get him/her to raise her math score! I dont like to make guarantee's but in general in a 1 month time frame i have been able to raise my students math score 100 points. If given 3-6 months i can raise their math score 200-350 points. My general strategy is to identify the type of question (Alg, Trig, Geometry etc) s/he struggles with and to examine hish/er thought process ...
Welcome students and parents: You may not know it yet, but stumbling upon my page may change your life for the better. With me, your immersion into the world of science and education may open up opportunities that may alter your children's future path.
I have tutored students at the junior/high school, and college levels. As a teaching assistance for undergraduates at the Ivy league, the Univ of Pennsylvania, I teach pupils to dissect problems and challenges into manageable components. This was my stepping stone into a professorial role. I am originally from NYC, and attended Stuyvesant, so I also help tutor students with the SSAT and SHSAT. Knowledge and understanding alone does not make a good educator, it is the ability to transmit such skills which is remarkable.
I have a Master's of Science of Biochemical Engineering from the
University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor's of Science in biomedical sciences from King's College, University of London.
Craig's teaching is quite impressive. I'm a math teacher myself, but when I caught moments of him teaching my daughter struggling in algebra 2, I thought his approach was better! His instruction is excellent and she is now doiing great in Algebra 2.

Craig has greatly helped my daughter struggling in chemistry! She now consistently achieves in the 90's. Without him, she would not have found an appreciation for chemistry and has now decided to sign up for AP Chem. His explanations are clear and easy to understand.

Craig is a marvelous tutor. For my twins, he brought up their MATH SAT 130 and 150 points respectively. With my middle schooler he has helped bring up her SSAT to the 94% (percentile) getting her into our top choice. He is thorough and meticulous tutor teaching them how to find and fix their own mistakes.
I have helped students for over 10 years with tackling the toughest problems on the SAT, including the Math, Writing, essay, and Reading sections. It is a fantastic experience helping students to learn and grow with each session.
Hello I am passionate about teaching software development and coding skills to those who are eager to learn it. Come with me on a journey that you have never experienced before and learn the vast world that is computer programming.
"I hired Matt based on positive reviews. What a great choice! My daughter had taken the SAT 3 times before contacting Matt. She was 30 points away from qu
alifying for a substantial scholarship. With only one more chance and 3 weeks to prepare, I decided to give Matt a chance. He was very professional, punctual, and made my daughter feel at ease. He provided study materials and gave very helpful instructions and tips. Her score went up an unbelievable 60 points in 3 weeks! She was able to get the scholarship and is set to start college in 3 weeks. I would recommend him to anyone and will definitely use him again."
"Leona was a very patient instructor and made sure that I understood the material covered before moving on to the next topic. Her teaching style helped me
to understand the structure of the SAT better."
"With a few painless lessons, Chris was able to raise my son's ACT scores significantly. Most impressively, he taught him a few easy strategies for the rea
ding section, which had been his weakest area, which resulted in a 34 on that section. We were very pleased - it was time and money well spent."
"Akib is very patient and connected well with my daughter Ashley! The first lesson went very well."
"Craig has been tutoring our daughter on the SAT Math and we have seen a boost in her confidence and her performance. He has been able to decisively shown
her how to tackle questions she would normally struggle with."
"Matthew explained his approach to coaching and the plan so we were able to make an educated choice on the best tutor for our son. Matthew was responsive,
organized and worked very well with our son. He communicated directly with our son and cc:ed me so that I was aware of the plan and f/u. His scores did improve on the SAT and we were pleased with the investment."
"Aleksander helped my son prepare for Regents Exams in Math (Algebra, Geometry and Trig.), English and SAT. The results were spectacular. He graduated hig
h school with 98% average in Math and English. He scored above 1500 on the SAT and was accepted into a school of his choice with a scholarship. Aleksander guided us through with college application process, helped fill out FAFSA, and helped my son select a major he is happy with. Great instructor! Great person!"
"Gerardo shows excellent handling of the subject. He is able to easily explain current lessons in the context of the greater subject at hand. In addition,
his passion of the material shows and he makes the sessions both exciting and applicable."
"Craig has been tutoring 2 of my children, one a junior prepping for the SAT and the other a freshman needing help with Bio and math. From the feedback I g
et, my children love him. He is patient, and systematic and methodical and from the brief glimpses I get, he is very interactive and genuinely nurtures a love of science in them"
