I've been teaching ballet for over twenty years. My ballet teacher was a Bolshi alumnai. He and his dad both danced for the Bolshi before they came to America. I teach a combination of Vaganova and my own updated style to keep my students interested in the style. I use classical music and pop to help students gain a love and appreciation for the style.

Meet your dance instructor. I have my bachelors degree from Chapman University in Theatre & Dance. My training includes Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Folk Dance, Dance History, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Improv, and Kinesiology, among other dance-related subjects.
I grew up in a small Illinois town. Lessons were few and far between, so I would copy dancing off of movies and videos in order to perform at local dances, or for other community events. As a youth, I took country line dancing classes. Always drawn to anything involving dance and movement, I auditioned and performed with a Disney Showcase Troupe. By high school, I was choreographing for the Show Choir, as well as, performing in theatrical productions, including the musical “The Wizard of Oz”.

When I wasn’t onstage, I could be found backstage working lights, sound, costuming, or stage management. I searched out other educational opportunities at Cypress College and the Taggart International School where I studied West African dance and Russian Ballet Technique. After performing a liturgical dance performance for my graduation ceremony, I toured the United States and a portion of Canada, researching dance around the world. This eventually led me to Jacmel, Haiti, where I studied cultural and social dances of the local people. After that I took up Bellydance and studied folk dancing in Chicago, Illinois.
Since 2001, I have taught classes for all ages from infants to adults. I have also studied child development and have a special love for bringing an adoration of the arts to the youngest artists in our communities. It is imperative that all my teachings highlight body positivity and the belief that everyone can dance. A life-long learner and dance aficionado, I continue my dance studies in Ballroom, Baroque Dance, and Scottish Country Dance. My influences include Isadora Duncan, Katherine Dunham, Sean Greene & Misty Copeland. I love being a part of the DA Dance Family.

As a former ballet dancer, I know first hand how dancers are always pushing their bodies to the limit and constantly challenging themselves to be better. This mindset transitions into my teaching style and classes. I am a professional ballerina with the American Contemporary Ballet in Downtown Los Angeles. I have experience teaching ballet for 9 years to all ages. I have a strong passion for teaching ballet and am comfortable teaching beginners, intermediate and advanced levels!
My students can expect to improve after just one class, and will continue to improve more and more with every week. Every student has their own strengths and weaknesses and I will help with their confidence in their own dancing. I believe that dance is a wonderful art form that can be taught to anyone at any age. I also teach a barre workout class which is a blend of Pilates and ballet. It’s less of the artistry in ballet, and more of exercises that target the little muscles that you don’t even know you have! With this class, you’ll see a change in your body in just a few classes.
I trained professionally in classical ballet under the Vaganova method from age 5 to 18 at Manassas Ballet Academy in Northern Virginia. While training there, I had the opportunity to compete in an international competion (YAGP) where I placed in the top 12 five years in a row, and received numerous full ride scholarships to several of the top ballet schools in the country.
After high school, I went on to further my studies in ballet at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. While there, I spent four years intensively learning to teach ballet to all levels. I am very comfortable teaching any level of dancer and am confident that I can coach any student to where they want to be!
Once I graduated from school, I immediately moved to LA to dance for American Contemporary Ballet. While with the company, I have performed numerous soloist roles such as Lilac Fairy from Sleeping Beauty and Snow Queen in the Nutcracker.

I started dancing at the age of 7 in Japan. At the age of 17, I attended to Arts Educational school in England and at the age of 18, I moved to New York city to attend Joffrey Ballet school.
At the age of 20, I was accepted to Dance Theatre of Harlem in NY and danced as a professional ballerina for about 6 years. Performed many principal roles and toured all over the US and overseas.

At the age of 17, she moved to England to attend The Arts Educational School. Here she mostly practiced RAD ballet method and Cecchetti ballet technique and she got a Cecchetti teaching certificate. She also had exposure to tap, jazz, contemporary and modern dance forms while she was there.
After a year, she moved to New York to continue her training at Joffrey Ballet School.At the age of 20, she was accepted to Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble under the director Arthur Mitchell, where she performed many principal roles in such as Joplin Dancers, New Bach, Concerto In F, South African Suite, Le Corsair, Nutcracker, and Glinka, among others. When I was dancing professionally I was so focused on the techniques that I forgot how fun is and how much I loved dancing. Then after my career, I was able to approach dance from a more relaxed and fun-driven perspective and it made me realize that everybody should be having fun dancing, especially if not dancing professionally. Also, when I started dancing as a kid, I didn’t have “the ballerina body” (e.g. not flexible enough, closed hips, no adequate feet) so ballet did not come natural for me. I always had to work so much harder than the other girls in the studio to achieve the same results. Thanks to my hard work, the shape of my legs changed completely after many years. This struggle, to get a better dancer, taught me how hard ballet could be and made me understand more about the details of techniques and the steps necessary to perfectionate them. I am happy to share all the knowledge accumulated over the years to allow my students to improve their skills while still having fun.

I’m a professional choreographer with specialization in ballet (Russian school), with over 13 years of teaching experience. All levels are welcome. I teach proper ballet techniques and customize my class based on student’s physical abilities and goals (from preparing for a recital/competition or doing it just for fun). I also help with the development of proper physical apparatus needed for ballet by means of special set of exercises aimed to help my students become more flexible and stronger, which gives them more freedom to express themselves. I teach all levels of ballet and all ages. Everyone is different, therefore I plan my class in accordance with such differences. I encourage my students to be the best they can be and improve their own abilities instead of trying to be better than someone else. Everyone has their own light to spread and I help each of my student find their special light.
Ballet is a hard work and requires a lot of discipline and dedication. It also requires a great amount of thinking ability and coordination of both brain hemispheres. I believe that this art develops not only your physical abilities, but mental abilities as well, and such impact can help anyone in every day life - in school, at work, with self improvement, in goals achievement. While I give a lot of information and challenge my students, I keep my classes light and interesting at the same time, combining education with fun.
Standard ballet class consists of warm up, barre and stretching followed by exercises in the center of the room - including jumps, turns and dance movements. Advanced levels use pointes shoes as well. Upon request I can also teach ballet variations, create solo or group routines, prepare for a competition.

I began my training at Sveltana Stanova's Baller Academy. Where I gained my love of ballet through the Vaganova Method. I am currently certified in Cecceheti Level 1 & 2.
She began her dance exploration at Svetlana Stanova's Ballet Academy, where she gained her knowledge of the Vaganova Method.
