The instructor was very professional and extremely well prepared. She tutored me for the GRE exam for about five months, and I can honestly say that my preparation was boosted by her great teaching skills as well as careful lesson planning. The sessions were planned in detail in order to work on all of the three sections of the test, paying particular attention to those topics that needed extra practice first. Weekly material was brought to class, and homework were regularly assigned and checked. The tutor was reliable and could be reached by email during the week for any questions and/or clarifications regarding the course work. Would recommend to anyone.

Paul was my favorite teacher at the New York Film Academy.
Unlike most of the teachers, Mr. Paul put a lot of effort and creativity into planning his classes, which made them both stimulating and fun for us.
I also loved the fact that Mr. Paul always respected our opinions, and never made us feel stupid when we didn’t understand something. He was always very encouraging and willing to keep explaining until we got it.

I highly recommend him to anyone interested in extra lessons. He is definitely worth it!

An SAT score is more of a measure of preparation than it is of intelligence. Of course, a thorough understanding and competency of the math and English on the test is necessary. However, more important is the familiarity with and the development of time-management strategies for the SAT. Working with me, we will gain this familiarity and learn the time-management strategies while answering representative problems from the official SAT study guide.

Hello there! My name is Colin, and I have four years of experience tutoring math and science. I began tutoring on college campuses, but have most recently been tutoring students – ages 12 through 50+ – from all over the country through online video chat. I am a UC Berkeley biomedical engineering graduate, and as such, both math and science are a significant part of my daily life. In college, I excelled in mathematics up through differential equations, as well as in science classes such as physics, general and organic chemistry, general and molecular biology, and programming. In addition to my coursework, I was an undergraduate researcher in a bioengineering laboratory for three years. Here, I used a cutting-edge gene-editing technique, known as CRISPR, to correct DNA mutations in mouse models for muscular dystrophy. My work, along with th

My strong background in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) qualifies me to tutor math and science up through lower-division college courses. However, I believe that it is my genuine passion for STEM that makes me a good teacher of math and science.

As a tutor, my goal is not to impress students with how much I know. Rather, my goal is to impress my students by showing them how easily math and science concepts can come to them when they are presented the material in a straightforward way. The late physicist, Richard Feynman, posited that the ability to explain complicated ideas in a simple manner is the true mark of understanding. I agree with this assertion, and I make it my goal each tutoring session to explain even the most complex phenomena in a simple way, so that my student will come away from the lesson invariably understanding it. Additionally, I emphasize a strong understanding of the fundamentals, because both math and science are heavily inductive disciplines; many of the theorems and laws are founded on other, more fundamental principles. I have personally experienced the discouragement of trying to learn material that is beyond my foundation level, and so I can empathize with students who are in that boat. Fortunately, I have learned that the remedy is always a return to, and a strengthening of the basics. That is the approach I take with students who find themselves struggling in a course.

My online teaching platform is a “black board” drawing program that my students can follow along with as I explain concepts and solve problems. I simply share my screen with them during the session, and at the end, I take a screenshot of the notes and email it to my students for their reference. I hope this brief explanation of my qualifications and teaching style has provided a clear image of what you can expect from me as your tutor. Colin's vast knowledge in so many subjects allows him to find unique approaches to teach and tutor. He knows the material so well that he is always able to find ways in which to break down the process of understanding the material. Colin will also breakaway from the point at hand if he feels that there might be some basic knowledge that I might not be aware of, but will contribute to my understanding. He also provided me with techniques that have helped me restructure the way I learn. Overall, a great instructor that has helped me come a long way in my ability to learn.

As a violin teacher, I always aim to set goals for students, to guide students towards them, and to be direct as possible so far as is appropriate. I also try to stay results-oriented throughout the process. Even if not all of a student’s progress is directly attributable to me, the most important thing was that he improve. I teach from the personal perspective of a traditional, technically founded approach to classical music, but I also love to arrange simple songs from any genre for each student, chosen by me or upon request. On the side, I enjoy playing fiddle music with my family and friends.

I really appreciated Alexander teaching me violin. He was basically my first instructor and he was always patient and motivating. He accommodated my unique needs as an adult beginner and brought me far in a short time. He was a little challenged to balance teaching with his heavy school load, but I appreciated his willingness to take the time to teach and help others.

I spent 10 years working for a test prep company in DC, the most competitive SAT/ACT region in the country, and now I'm a private tutor in Los Angeles. I'm a Johns Hopkins University graduate who has earned multiple perfect scores on the SAT. In the decade I spent working for a test prep company, I taught students of various abilities, ran prep courses, wrote class materials for all three subjects, advised families about every aspect of the standardized testing process, and gave SAT and ACT presentations at local high schools. I doubt you'll find anyone with more experience!

I often work with students whose SAT scores don't match up with their grades, so if that sounds like you, don't worry! The SAT is a unique test that asks questions about familiar topics that you've learned in school, but it does so in a way that disguises those topics. For example, you might be staring at a Math question that makes you feel totally lost - like you don't even know where to start. In fact, you probabl
y have all the knowledge you need to solve it. My job is to help you get better at searching your brain for the right strategy.

I use real practice tests so that you can see more questions and get more comfortable with the format of the exam. But I've also written my own study materials that break the SAT and ACT down into manageable "packets". Each packet is meant to narrow your focus to a certain question type. I think you'll see pretty quickly that the SAT doesn't change all that much from test to test, so once you know how to recognize each question type, you won't be surprised when you see it on the next exam. That's why they call it a standardized test - the questions don't vary all that much!

By breaking the test down into manageable chunks, I can make it easier to learn the material because you won't have to memorize hundreds of formulas, grammar rules, and vocabulary words at once. Small goals are easier to achieve. And accomplishing those little goals will boost your confidence, making you more willing to try the hardest problems that you used to give up on. As you take practice tests, you'll see those scores go up, and you'll actually be excited for test day!
