About Kay
I have been teaching Piano for 16 years now. I have taught students from age 2 1/2 - Adult. I was self-taught when I was a kid and begun taking formal lessons as a very young adult in my early twenties. I graduated from CSULB with my BA in Music with a concentration on Voice. As a Music major you spend a lot of time at the Piano. I became a member of MTAC in 2004 and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota in 1998. I have a great passion for Music and a bigger passion for the Piano and sharing the wonders of how beautiful the Piano really is.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my opinion, piano is the hardest instrument to learn but the most rewarding. If you can play piano you can pretty much play any instrument. I believe that a piano lesson should be fun. I'm a strict teacher with a smile and a giggle. I push my students to greatness while helping the
m love the piano through the good times and the bad. I'm a very encouraging but honest teacher. I compliment when warranted and I assess not so good performances in an honest but encouraging manner. I always let a student know that though their performance was not their best, they can and will improve. It's always only a matter of time. I use the Schaum and Nevin series depending on the student's personality. I teach Classical and Pop Music. It's important for a student to learn the Classics just as important as it is for them to play things they like. I find the happy balance between the two. I teach Beginning to Intermediate levels. I also like to incorporate Music theory into the lessons because understanding the mechanics of Music helps make playing and creating Music much easier to accomplish. A typical lesson will start off with a hand drill warm up. We then will move on to the lesson book and repertoire. Theory will be assigned as homework. I look it over at the beginning of the lesson and discuss it and answer any questions in the last five minutes of class. Baby lessons go as followed: 15 mins. of play time and 15 mins of Music theory. I like to keep structure in my lessons but sprinkle a little joy and laughter to keep the atmosphere light. It makes for a much more attentive Piano student.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have a Piano or Keyboard of some sort. I may provide music on occasion.

About Johanna
Hi, my name's Johanna, and I am a friendly, easy-going, passionate 22 year old seamstress who has been sewing since age 15!

I began teaching sewing lessons at a needle arts shop, Stitchers' Dream, in my hometown in June 2010 when I was 15 years old. I taught informative and professional yet laidback and stress-free lessons to both children and adults of all age ranges and skill levels. Now, a graduate of Boston University living and working full-time in Los Angeles, I teach two kids' sewing classes every Saturday at Miss Shannon's Sewing in Valley Village, and am looking to expand my class schedule!

I am very knowledgeable about the art of sewing, can operate just about any type of sewing machine, and am extremely patient and dedicated to my students' success. Sewing students can work on my own personal machine (a Husqvarna Viking -
a great quality machine!), or use their own if they have one. Students will learn everything from machine operation, cutting and reading patterns, garment construction, taking measurements, adding finishing touches, and so much more!

I sew my own clothing, accessories, and home decor for fun, and also have my own Etsy shop where I sell my handmade goods. In college, I was a costume designer for several theatrical productions, and made plenty of costumes for the shows. If you'd like to see some of my completed projects, don't hesitate to reach out - I'd be happy to show you photos!

Although I never officially taught knitting lessons at my old job at Stitchers' Dream, I am a skilled knitter who is able to provide beginner lessons to knitters. I taught several people the basics of knitting during high school, and have created several garments and accessories throughout the 8 years that I have been knitting, including headbands, hats, scarves, slippers, and a sweater. I am able to help students understand knitting patterns, and purchase the correct yarn and needles for their project.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.

I need to improve my spoken German for business and Marcel has been invaluable in helping me improve at a good pace while being incredibly flexible on lesson planning.

I've been working with him for about a month now and I've grown to feel more comfortable speaking with my colleagues who are native German speakers.

If you want a native, professional teacher who can be fun...Marcel is your guy.

I am an intuitive, Jungian-based astrologer. A life-long yoga practitioner, I presently run a yoga nonprofit. Daily meditation is essential to me. I had my astrology chart done on a whim in the early 90's and immediately became enthralled with the art.

I began my daily blog, featuring Street Art from around the World, in April of 2013. I published two of my novels, written in the late 90's, this year as well. With an MA in counseling Psychology, and a PhD in Philosophy and Religion, I bring a psychological and philosophical perspective to my work. My PhD, from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, concentrated on symbol systems and Jungian Psychology. With over twenty five years experience in astrological counseling, I impart a unique, artistic vision, to my workshops and readings.

She is meticulous with her work and very patient while explaining all the information she gives, you can clearly see this in her weekly blogs. What I loved most about Ainslie readings is that you really feel how passionate she is about Astrology and this makes the experience so much more meaningful and fun! Thank you Ainslie!

I have been consulting Dr. Ainslie Faust for online tutoring in the subject of astrology for the past two years. I won't see anybody else for my lessons.

She makes learning astrology easier because she breaks the subject matter down into simpler terms. She makes learning astrology fun because she is a brilliant storyteller.

I maintain my own astrology website, but I continue to educate myself about Astrology. When I need another lesson, I contact Dr. Faust. And I refer all of my friends to her as well.

She would be a tremendous asset to any organization.

About AHMED
I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.
