I am a fashion designer/instructor and former social worker. I am very patient with students and passionate about sewing. I get excited watching students build skills gradually from basic through advanced level techniques.
Also, I am one of the few teachers in the country who teaches the exclusive "Freehand" sewing, which is sewing without ready-made (commercial) pattern, like our grandparents did.
As a social worker, I taught participants in a homeless shelter, how to make various items geared towards independent living. For six years now, I've been teaching at a fabric store in East Harlem where patrons sign up for group sewing lessons as well as private lessons. I teach garment construction, alterations, home decor, and various sewing projects.
Taught and built sewing clientele from a handful to over 1000 students and repeat students over the last 4years.
Lily is an exceptional teacher. She is very passionate detailed, organized, and caring. I am a person that needs a lot of detail and ask a lot of questions and Lily was so paitent with me. Before meeting Lily I felt unsure of my abilities to sew, but with Lily's guidance on how she structures her lesson I was able to grasp what I was learning. I definitely will be registering with Lily for more courses she's Awesome!+ Read More
