About Lily
I am a fashion designer/instructor and former social worker. I am very patient with students and passionate about sewing. I get excited watching students build skills gradually from basic through advanced level techniques.
Also, I am one of the few teachers in the country who teaches the exclusive "Freehand" sewing, which is sewing without ready-made (commercial) pattern, like our grandparents did.
As a social worker, I taught participants in a homeless shelter, how to make various items geared towards independent living. For 9years now, I've been teaching at a fabric store in East Harlem where patrons sign up for group sewing lessons as well as private lessons. I teach garment construction, alterations, home decor, and various sewing projects.

About Tom
Hello everyone, I'm Tom.

I have always loved teaching people things that I enjoy, sharing my experience with others, and helping people realize their own potential.

I am a musician, a martial artist, and a general IT guru.

Music and martial arts runs in my family, and I was raised around them from a very young age.

As a child, I was always fascinated with computers, and had to know everything I could about them.

My teaching style is a bit unorthodox, focusing more on philosophy and personal introspection than traditional "memorize and practice" methods, and is very mind, body, and spirit oriented.

Feel free to ask me questions for more information.

I look forward to hearing from you.

About Maureen
I have been knitting for more than 35 years, and was taught by a neighbor when I was 12 years old. I found it fascinating and rewarding to transform something disorganized (a ball of yarn) into something purposeful and beautiful. As I grew up, and my world expanded, I found the world of fiber was bigger than I ever imagined.

There are so many options for pursuing the craft of knitting -- whether one chooses simple natural fibers, high end fibers, or inexpensive yarn from the discount bin. Regardless of what you knit with, it always comes back home: knitters everywhere are united by the inner stillness of sitting with needles in hand, the yarn passing through the fingers, watching an item take shape from the knitter's own hands.

The act of creation on the small, humble scale, in meditative fashion is what keeps drawing me in, and
I welcome you to be drawn in, too.
