Unlike most of the teachers, Mr. Paul put a lot of effort and creativity into planning his classes, which made them both stimulating and fun for us.
I also loved the fact that Mr. Paul always respected our opinions, and never made us feel stupid when we didn’t understand something. He was always very encouraging and willing to keep explaining until we got it.
I highly recommend him to anyone interested in extra lessons. He is definitely worth it!
I've been teaching SAT preparation for 10 years and my students have increased their SAT scores over 500 points from their initial scores.
I create a personalized daily syllabus that caters to each student's individual strengths and weakness, and check in with my students daily to make sure that they are completing their homework assignments and have no questions.
My program is rigorous and demanding, but leads to significantly higher scores very quickly. I do not give my students a chance to slack off or to stop doing their homework assignments because students are required to enter when they have completed their homework assignments, their scores, and their vocabulary words daily through a virtual tracking system that I have created.
I provide a book list including Collegeboard and Kaplan books, though can work with whatever books students already have. I incorporate technology to keep students engaged.
I can't wait to begin!

~~~~~~~~~~~ My Personal Message to You ~~~~~~~~~~~
One of the wisest teachers once said that poor grades, study habits, and test scores are not life-threatening, but they are college-, job- , career-, and quality-of-life threatening. The most competitive students take a pro-active approaching to academics and tutoring while the least competitive take a reactive approach. All you need to do is watching the documentary 'Two Million Minutes' by Bob Compton to realize why students in other countries such as India and China surpass American peers in almost every subject, especially language (writing, grammar, etc.), math, science, and engineering-related subjects. They attend extra classes and tutoring from 6-7 AM in the morning to almost midnight.
In today's fast-paced and competitive job market, there is simply too much to lose by not investing now in your child's or your education. If a student is struggling, it makes sense to get him/her the help needed so that the time spent in school is worthwhile. Great grades and test scores can open doors that may have been previously closed and are also significant factors when determining scholarships, so investing time and effort now can pay off substantially in the future. Finally, let's not forget the most important part in all of this: the student. The confidence, knowledge, and skills that a student gains through effective tutoring can last a lifetime.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch. Every day spent waiting is another class or lecture's worth of material that you might potentially fall behind or another low quiz/test/exam score that will only make it harder to recover from. I have had too many students who could have received the grade(s) they wanted had they contacted me from the beginning.
Students take a diagnostic exam to determine strengths, weaknesses, and whether or not the ACT or SAT is best for them; brief interviews also occur. Afterward, personalized strategies are developed based on abilities, needs, goals, budget, schedule, learning styles, and interests.
While I love a good challenge, it's still heartbreaking to be approached by students (or parents of students) who earn A's and B's at school, but can't earn 850 on the SAT, or who take an ESL course, but can't (or are afraid) to speak English (when nece
To help personalize your experiences and ensure relevance of sessions:
1. Written and oral assessments are used to gauge your strengths and weaknesses.
2. Periodic quizzes are administered; their regularity depends on the how often you meet with me.
3. Exit exams are administered at the end of your programs.
All I ask is that you are ready to:
1. Shift your priorities, and invest adequate time and energy into getting the results you really want.
2. Be on time.
3. Openly communicate your needs, pleasures, and nots.
4. Understand that while you may notice improvements as early as the first session, total success will take time.
I have a degree in English (with special emphasis on secondary education), and an ESL certification. My 10+ years in the educational arena, and ongoing professional development, have taught me the importance of helping students shift from lower- to higher-order thinking, which is really only coaching you to learn to want to think about the synergy of things, before deciding and acting on them. Primarily, I teach English and language arts at the secondary and post-secondary levels (i.e., middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults), but I have a knack for teaching math and algebra, so I offer lessons in those areas, as well. Prepping students for standardized tests -- GRE, SAT, ACT, HSPT, CBEST, CSET: English -- is a love a mine, too.
Whether for summer or winter enrichment, test prep, help with the naturalization exam, or just a general safety net, be sure to contact me, and we can determine how to work together to create the results you or your child need.
Peace and best,
P.S., Be sure to bring all of who you are to your sessions. Creased, crumpled, crimped, or saggy: I don't care. Just be ready to do better.
I attended Seton Hall University for Education and Spanish. I attended Rutgers to study teaching English as a Second Language. I am certified in New Jersey.
In our first lesson I like to see what level students are, ask what their goals are, and begin lessons that target those goals. I love to help my students accomplish their goals and enjoy the process!
I have experience tutoring for SAT for over 3 years. I have taught many students useful techniques and tips that resulted in tremendous progress on their SAT score. SAT score is depended highly on Student's ability to practice the materials. As a tutor, I like to sit down with my students and help them identify their strengths and weaknesses. After that, we come up with a plan that best fits the student's availability to work on the materials by themselves and with me. I am very understanding and do not judge my students on their previous performance. I believe, working hard and studying smart can go a long way. Therefore, as long as the student is willing to do his or her part, I can assure a very high score on the examination based on my experience.
